    GOOD VIDEO! Appreciated the live demo as babies can be challenging and refuse with their whole bodies. It was good to see the baby settle into the mom's arms.

    People whining over this: tube insertion is no or minimal pain and its uncomfortable, that's it. Feeding tubes can save the baby life and prevent malnutrition and have great results (if done correctly). Baby's cry over anything and everything, they also cry during diaper changes, car rides, outfit changes or when they are held still or when you take away their toy, does this mean these things hurt? Nope. It simply means they don't like it and they are uncomfortable, they will live! Also, to people saying this baby should be sedated, sedation comes with risks and side effects, especially for younger patients and they usually need to fast, sedation and making baby fast for 6 hours is NOT worth a procedure that causes 2 minutes of discomfort.
    15:35 Notice how baby started to get fussy and cry BEFORE they placed the tube? He did because they were touching him and not letting him stick his foot up and they swaddled him, he turned into a beetroot and started cackling like he was being skinned alive, was he is pain? Nope. He also calmed down as soon as he was picked up. He is fine! 🙄

    Thank you for making this. 3 years ago when our son was born, there wasn't a video that involved an actual infant that was awake and protesting. They taught us on a doll and then we dropped it in our paralyzed and sedated 3 month old. None of that compared to being alone in the middle of the day with a starving child, screaming and kicking and then I was forced to make it all so much worse before it could get better.

      Don't thank her this woman is nuts. She demonstrates the procedure yet makes the baby nervous and cries in pain. Inserting a tube is something foreign to one's body.
      Why even recommend tubes when you know it is going to cause pain and discomfort for babies?
      Knowing that the baby can't swallow food/fluids because of it's gagging reflex, why even make it more severe by pushing the tube down into their nose?
      I have seen infants in hospitals who have orogastric/nasogastric tubes inserted very gently and NOT ONE SOUND came out from them. How is that possible?

    So many people commenting who obviously have no medical knowledge. This is not a painful procedure. Uncomfortable? yes, but not painful. Many babies cry just because they are being held still, not because of the procedure. These tubes are not placed for the fun of it, they are placed because it is a medical necessity. Babies need to be fed, and if they cannot take feedings by mouth, it has to be done in a different way.

    Poor thing sounded like he was choking I feel so bad they should’ve given him a sedative and isn’t it said that if the patient starts coughing to take the tube out and comfort the child and restart and maybe GIVE THE POOR THING A SEDATIVE!

      Sedatives are not given during this procedure because this is a painless procedure but it's uncomfortable if we give sedatives it may have some cause to the patient. Ok answer me that uncomfortable is just for a moment and by administration of sedatives may cause risk to patients life which is better??

      You have a point right there.
      People in the medical profession relish in toying people's emotions by explaining a procedure that seems well-intentioned but the process is very disturbing.
      This is healthcare not a torture. They should understand the negative viewpoint of this.
      Of course, we're the only fools speaking against this but no one will listen or even validate our opinion.

That’s such a lie, I’ve had three NG tubes placed and they are ridiculously uncomfortable for hours and days when you first have them inserted, not to mention the constant feeling like you’re gonna gag. It can also be painful if it’s inserted too fast which happened to me and many other people, and it can irritate your throat obviously

    • @klv2500
      @klv2500 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Sedatives aren’t necessary for ng tubes. Sometime they can have numbing for the throat but theres no way to guarantee it covers the whole throat. It’s not a fun procedure for anyone, but it’s a medical procedure that helps them stay healthy in the long run

    • @ashlenz7033
      @ashlenz7033 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      He's uncomfortable, but see how he is immediately soothed by mom picking him up. It's not a painful procedure if done correctly and quickly. It feels terrible to see them scream and cry, but momentary discomfort is better than taking a risk with a sedative. Imagine if the child had a reaction to the medication or even worse an overdose? And sedatives may interfere with feeding and voiding schedules, as well as other medications the child might be on.

    • @ry.butterfly
      @ry.butterfly 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Unnecessarily sedating an infant is dangerous. It's a quick and relatively painless procedure, and he was very easily soothed when it was done.
