    Well done man! I'm sad you don't have the big speakers that were designed for those machines, the floor or wall Altec Lansing are in the actual massive discotheque from then- but they are hard to find.

    Hi, could you provide a little more detail about the split signals in your amp setup? I didn’t really understand this. Thanks!

    • @ConnorEhrgood
      @ConnorEhrgood  ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure!
      Each set of speaker drivers in the machine is built to handle a specific frequency range. In this case, the upper ones are for high and mid frequencies (with components on the driver to separate them further) and the lower drivers are for low frequencies.
      There are dedicated pieces of equipment used to split out these signals called crossovers, but I cheaped out and did it different. All I did was use the amps eqs to remove the frequencies that aren't wanted from each set of drivers respectively.
      So, on the LF amp, turn the high end all the way down. On the HF/MF, turn the low end all the way down.
      Hope that helps!
      Thanks for watching!

    Did you ever make a kit for others to buy? I have a box similar to yours. it's a 1965 Seeburg Discotheque. I'm looking to make it an MP3 player because I can't get it to work properly. Any new information would be appreciated. Thanks.

      Hi John! I never got a solid kit together, but I've got a few plans floating around for a fully integrated "plug" (well, connect) and play solution on one board as opposed to a kit. just hook up the wires and go! I'm going to reach out to the others who've asked for help and see if they're interested too. If so, I'll do my best to get something together. Let me know if you're interested in this!

    I have this jukebox and would like to convert it to MP3. I think what you have done is fantastic and I would be interested in purchasing a kit from you if you could make one up to sell. Please let me know. Very creative and a job well done on this project.

      Hi there! I'm in the process of putting together a more simple sort of all-in-one solution. It's going to be a single PCB that handles all of the control and playback for the jukebox with purpose built interfaces. I should have something together pretty soon. Keep an eye out!

      @@Emiator Hi there!
      I am in the process! I'm putting together what I'm thinking is going to be quite a nice single board, plug-and-play platform adding all sorts of opprotunities to wirelessly add wall boxes, mobile device control, add on modules, and more! Keep an eye out for new videos! hopefully I'll have something together in the next couple weeks!

    I want to convert a Jukebox similar to yours to MP3 and to have it play with the use of the buttons. I have read your previous conversations with others. Sadly I don't know anything about raspberry pi or any of these programming languages. I was hoping for some type of conversion kit with instructions on how to install it. The Jukebox I was looking to purchase and convert is a Seeburg Lpc-1. Very similar to yours. Can you help me out? Thanks.

      Hi there! I can certainly help you out. However, I'm currently preparing for finals week next week in college, so I might have to wait until after I've completed my finals to get back to you.
      Thanks for watching, as well as your interest! I'll get back to you soon!

    any advice would be great or maybe if its not possible i might look to getting a pi
    really cool setup well done

      Thanks for your kind words!
      In all reality, I didn't need to use the pi, most of the interfacing is done with the arduino. When I started this project, the pi didn't exist, so I started building it around the arduino assuming I would be putting a standard PC in it. The arduino I used is an arduino Leonardo. I used that one because it natively supportd HID (keyboard and mouse) emulation, letting me take in regular keystrokes in python. But, you could use any of the other ones and use a serial link. By the time I got to the point that I was ready to get a dedicated computer in there, I had a few pis on hand, so I just used on of them. All the pi is really doing is running the python script that actually plays the tracks, and a few other little things that could be passed off to the arduino, which would be able to talk to a standard PC. Python will run on just about anything with a processor, including any remotely modern PC, and my script, with a few modifications, should work. The software this runs could definitely be run on a pi zero, which only costs $5. Keep in mind, that needa a few more things like a power supply, sd card, usb adaptor, sound card, and all, but it's well under $50.
      I've been considering making the code to this project available for a few dollars, but I have to come up with a way to (1) make it easy to set up, and (2) make it compatible with just about any machine. If you want me to, I can work on that tomorrow. If you tell me what machine you have, I can try to tailor the code to it. However, python is AMAZINGLY easy to learn, so you may want to give it a go yourself. I've gone through 2 main computers since I wrote the arduino code, but the arduino language is also very easy to learn. If you would rather me provide that as well, I could re-write it pretty quick (probably better, too! I've learned a lot since I was 12!!).
      If you Really REALLY wanted me to, I could put together a kit with a pre-programmed arduino, Raspberry Pi, all necessary pi hardware, and all the code necessary for an affordable price, but once again, you may enjoy doing it yourself. The arduino I used is an arduino Leonardo. I used that one because it natively supportd HID (keyboard and mouse) emulation, letting me take in regular keystrokes in python. But, you could use any of the other ones and use a serial link.
      Let me know if you want any of that, or if you need any more help!
      Thanks for watching!!

      hi thanks for replyingI am hoping to get my cab which is a nsm concert is quite big and a 80s machine but looks cool you can Google it or TH-camok will be using a pc with a ipac emulator as for arduino Leonardo im not clued up with but ipac is the same thing im sure you know that and python not got any experience with that and also a pi virgin that doesn't mean im not willing to learn or spend money however will really really need your help very experienced with pc's and mp3 jukebox software so got half a decent brain my keys order does not include letters just numbers starting from 100 I think will know when cab is picked up. Would buy set up of you if you don't mind and learn how to build it later with your guidance if that is ok prefer a pc version using xp or wins 7 if possible if not will order a pi which ever you think is easiest I want if possible to use flac files however if not mp3s will be fine and the mechanical record selection is a must just love thatlet me know soon as you can might be better using emails johnjuke@live.com understand were well apart with time zones im from the ukits cool to communicate with a like minded dude like myself is there a update video coming soon would love to see itcheers john

      You won't regret it! They are amazing learning tools! Working on a package for the software currently. I'll let you know when it's ready. I'll likely need more info on your machine to figure out how to interface it with the software. As far as the actual mechanism goes, computerizing that could be pretty complicated. That is, if you really want it to go through and select records and all. But really, if you just wanted it to move, you could just switch the drive motor on and off with a relay to just make it move. Good luck with the arduino! I'll be in touch soon.

      Closer than ever, but progress has been slow. This has been sitting on the back burner for, what, 5 years now? Some day! I have a new job now and will hopefully have a bit more free tome to wrap this up.

    I also have a ss160 that I am planning on doing something similar. is the record sleeve display 110v? any chance I can get arduino code and python programs?

    • @ConnorEhrgood
      @ConnorEhrgood  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, fellow Connor!
      Yes, the rotating sleeve display does run on 120VAC mains, which makes me VERY uncomfortable. I hope to change that someday.
      As far as the code goes, I had plans to try to sell it, but I'm not going to have time to deal with that. It's all pretty simple, anyway. I actually wrote the Arduino code way back when I started this project before the raspberry pi existed assuming I would be using a regular computer. I've since lost that code. If you're using a pi, I would recommend just using the on-board GPIO of the pi. I'll unblur my (bad) code, and it can be easily adapted to meet your needs, although, I would suggest you give it a go from scratch yourself! You can likely write better code than I can, as I am certainly no programmer. Python is incredibly intuitive, and there are a TON of resources available with a quick search, so give it a try!
      If you can, go ahead and put up a clip of your machine when it's all done. I'd love to have a look!
      Let me know if you need any more tips. Good luck!
      -Connor

      Hi Matt, I understand your point, and regret that I was unable to repair the original mechanism. However, you've got to work with what you've got, and that was my approach to breathing just a little more life into this machine. Anyway, thanks for watching!
