Controlling GrandMA3 Programming Encoders | A Reverse Engineering Project
I'm very happy with MA3 for controlling my shows, but I've been battling the on-screen programming encoders while programming.
Unfortunately, MA removed the ability to control these encoders over OSC, so I can't use ShowCockpit to control them with MIDI.
Follow along with me as a build a solution to this problem, and get some updates on my world along the way!

A Look at a Cheap Fiber Splicer - Signal Fire? AI9
มุมมอง 32Kปีที่แล้ว
This is a "No effort November" style look at a cheap fiber splicer that my little business purchased. I actually filmed this WELL over a year ago. The splicer has seen a good deal of use and is still going strong. Some of the little channel and personal details given at the end of this video are now different. Keep an eye out for another video to be posted very soon detailing the big changes an...

[Abandoned 🙁] Project Preview | Rotating Indexable Gobos (and more) to a Cheap LED Moving Spot
มุมมอง 7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi all, I've abandoned this project, as I've very rapidly outgrown these fixtures. I'm going to leave it up for idea spreading purposes. A few months ago I posted a video about creating custom gobo wheels for some of these dirt-cheap LED movers. The result was great, but I want more!
Cheap LED Moving Spot Gobo Wheel Upgrade
มุมมอง 50K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I bought a set of cheap LED moving spot fixtures. They're pretty decent, but I wanted to give them that extra little bit of usability, so I 3D printed custom gobo wheels for the fixture. Hi there! Welcome to the Ehrack Digital Arts Channel! This is just a video that I put togather for my friend Jimmy. Please keep in mind, this is my first skate video ever, so my camera work is not perfect... I had a bit of a hard time keeping focus on the fast moving subjects, and I don't have a fluid video head for my tripod, but I think it came out pretty okay. Thanks for watching! Music: Act...

    It's a shame that the project wasn't continued. I think the idea of incorporating such functions into the moving spot of size is really cool. I'm currently thinking about replicating the gobo wheel idea from the previous video for 5 moving spots. Maybe there will be another update to the modified moving spot in the future :)

      Thanks! A good, opaque white paint may be able to pull this off. It would come down to whether the little bit of heat wicking provided by the aluminum tape is actually needed, and that is something I'm not sure of. Worth a shot, I'd say! Thatns for watching!

    Very cool video! I have a few of these lights and never even thought about the upgrade potentials. I like the CMY colour mixing idea as well, it sounds very difficult to accomplish though. Have you considered whether adding RGB led modules along with the built in white one to get RGB colour mixing is feasible? I have no experience in this type of modding so perhaps you've ruled it out for an obvious reason, sounds more doable to me off the top of my head though

    • @ConnorEhrgood
      @ConnorEhrgood 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, thanks for watching! I've considered using an RGB LED, but I suspect I would struggle to source a sufficiently bright LED and know that my limited optical knowledge would likely not yield the nice even mix I'd be after, although maybe it's simpler than I'm thinking. Looks like there's room for others to improve these further!

    • @ConnorEhrgood
      @ConnorEhrgood ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that is the case. My understanding is that the entire MA2 integration in SC is through the web UI. I'm thinking it worked differently on MA2 in that maybe it had discrete commands and control instead of implementing a remote desktop type thing. Not sure, though. Thanks for watching!

    • @flashyStrobe

    • @ConnorEhrgood
      @ConnorEhrgood ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Thanks for watching! I was hoping I would be able to make these backlit like the ones on the console, but that opens a pretty big can of worms when using the web ui method because the console only sends back a video stream, no discrete data. That means we'd have to receive a video stream and try to process it to extract data. Possible? Yes, but we'd likely need more processing power and a whole lot more code. At that point a lua setup of some sort may be a better option. This is just the beginnings of a larger project I'm calling OpenSurface. Keep an eye out for updates on that!

    Hi, we are planning to use some leftover direct burial fiber in a project. This fiber is a 24 ribbon. If we separate the strands out and splice individually, I can't see why this machine wouldn't work. If it's 9/125 SM, the machine shouldn't really care about anything past the cladding, right?

    Hi, could you provide a little more detail about the split signals in your amp setup? I didn’t really understand this. Thanks!

    • @ConnorEhrgood
      @ConnorEhrgood ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure! Each set of speaker drivers in the machine is built to handle a specific frequency range. In this case, the upper ones are for high and mid frequencies (with components on the driver to separate them further) and the lower drivers are for low frequencies. There are dedicated pieces of equipment used to split out these signals called crossovers, but I cheaped out and did it different. All I did was use the amps eqs to remove the frequencies that aren't wanted from each set of drivers respectively. So, on the LF amp, turn the high end all the way down. On the HF/MF, turn the low end all the way down. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
