This procedure seems WOEFULLY lacking. You have a helicopter in the *SAME AREA* as an approaching flight is landing and you have a helicopter AT THE *SAME FLIGHT LEVEL* In addition, this is *AT NIGHT* with *LESS ATC Controllers in the tower* possibly because of a smaller labor pool to choose from due to previous *DEI demands*
It wasn't the controller's fault at all. The chopper pilot took control of separation. Even after responsibility was relinquished, the controller messaged again when the chopper was maneuvering closer to the plane. The chopper veered straight into the plane, clearly indicating that they had lost visual on the plane. This is all on the chopper pilot sadly.

I'm a figure skater and this has really rocked the community. There were 14 young talented skaters returning from a national development camp on board plus coaches and family. So a high percentage of those lost were from the small figure skating community.
My daughter is a figure skater and all the parents part of the community . Everyone is devastated .

And they were incredibly talented. Particularly, Spencer. All loss of life is tragic. But that young man was a figure skating savant. The rarity of his natural talent makes this tragedy all the more sorrowful.
Wouldn’t be surprised if the copter was one of the autonomous drone types that Lockheed has worked on. What Blackhawk pilot wouldn’t see a commercial airliner in an area where planes are landing?
They practice air maneuvers in the same area ...not allowed to go above 200ft... Why is there military base that they practice these maneuvers next to one of the busiest airports in America.... Just STUPID
The helicopter was supposed to be following a route along the river below the flight path of the fixed wings approaching the run way, The helicopter should have been below 200ft, staying below the landing aircraft.
The chopper pilot was female with only 500 hours of flight experience. The average is between 2000 to 3000 hours for any pilot in a theater of operations.
That is not correct. In the UK, we do this to expose aircrew in a gradual way. It is crucial so they have the knowledge to transit airspace. In war, military work near civilians and are trained to do so. Military follow civilian rules also, so you should disregard the difference. The police helps and ambulance do the same. But military or civilian.....all human. We make mistakes, accept it !!
And those pilots who did take the jab, paid dearly because they developed side effects and were exempted from flying ever again. It ruined their hard-earned careers. I feel bad for all of them.
You can read into this whatever you want, but this is a case where Occum's razor applies. Besides the helicopter, there were two other aircraft on final. I believe the helo pilot saw the airplane in front of him and to the right, but not the one to his left, which he hit. They were likely doing NVG training, so the safety pilot may have been focused on the wrong airplane when he called traffic in sight. All you need to do, is look at the PSA crash in San Diego -- this is a carbon copy of that accident. For the record, I am a retired ATC, and I fly both fixed-wing and rotary-wing (Army) professionally -- I have been a pilot for over 50 years.
Apparently the copter was tracked narrowly missing two other aircraft. I also heard the pilot of the copter was a M to F transexual and went kamakazi to show Trump the middle finger, but not 100% sure if this is true or not
They were NOT flying with NVG. There is entirely too much ground lights to even wear night vision gear as it would amplify the already existing bright landing lights that are extremely intense for landing. It would impossible to wear them as the image would blinding the user even after adjusting. 33 Masonic Ritual with DIE subtitles. Remember the FBI who were on a “training mission” coincidentally at the same time as the Broward County School mass shooting..? Who remembers the 2 Fighter jets that were coincidentally “on a training mission” the morning of 9/11? Just another Cohen-cidence huh?
The training route for the helicopters is going south over the Potomac River. The final approach for aircraft landing on runways 1 and 33 crosses over the Potomac River. Both the helicopters and the aircraft are flying a few hundred feet above the river. This was an accident waiting to happen. Whoever decided to have the helicopters fly there has blood on their hands. This was beyond stupid. The air traffic controller did nothing wrong. 100% of the responsiblity lies with the helicopter crew.
Military choppers flying in that area are restricted to 200 feet altitude. The blackhawk in question went from 200' to 300' then at the last minute to 350' as the plane was descending. WHY? Till we meet again!
How do you maintain that strict of a altitude restriction, while at the same time scanning the dark night for potential aircraft, while wearing night vision goggles that may not have the best (as in, what we're used to from cameras) auto focus capabilities? Even normal pilots will have busted their altitude assignment. Maybe more than once. In ideal conditions.
150 to 200ft is to little vertical separation even if both pilots were on altitude. The controller should have sequenced the Heli between the airliners allowing for normal lateral separation, not allowed the Heli to pass just under the airliner. I suspect the controller was grossly overloaded due to staff shortages.
President Trump was not saying the ATC was a DEI hire, but rather that due to DEI policies, the ATC workforce across the country as a whole is severely understaffed. There was indeed a memo circulated among FAA specialists indicating that many qualified persons were not hired because they were essentially too white to meet DEI standards of hiring a more diverse workforce. Also blaming President Trump's hiring freeze is ludicrous, as he had only been in office for ten days at the time of this horrible tragedy. The hiring and training process to establish a single new fully qualified ATC takes an average of two years. The systemic shortage of ATC nationwide dates back to the Obama presidency and was substantially worse under Biden's DEI policies. These are facts, and if the legacy news media were not so far-left biased, they would be reporting as such.
@@tania0070 No, dear Tania. This is true and documented. Out of 3,000 hires, 1,800 are DEI hires. Fully qualified controllers were not hired when DEI were. FACT.
Washington is surrounded by three commercial airports and other private ariports. Also it is surrounded by military bases. It's inevitable that you will have to mix commerical, AND military in that airspace. Is it done the best way? Probably not, but we don't know the pressure the DOD may put on the FAA to allow the routes right next to DCA for expediency, etc.
You are absolutely right, and "mixing" is not allowed. The military helicopter was flying a designated flight path that had an altitude cap of 200'. This collision took place at 300' plus, the helicopter was flying way above his airspace, and obviously at fault. This entire situation is difficult to understand for me as a pilot. Exceeding an altitude cap in congested air space is exactly like speeding in a school zone right after school lets out. Strangest to me was ATC warned him of traffic, when this happens you check traffic visually and your position, both visually and instrumentally. About one second after I received that ATC traffic warning I would have looked at my altimeter and been in a steep dive.
There's audio of another traffic controller the day before. And the amount of information he was giving out was far more extensive than what we heard from the TC in question. There was a helicopter in the region and he gave coordinates, altitude, direction to the plane. He did the same with the heli. I think we can all agree that asking someone, do you see the plane and do you see the plane north bound at 300 altitude desending into runway 33 will give you a different outcome. I think we need to take a closer look here. Had the TC given that information to the heli, the pilot that was looking at a different plane could've corrected their view. Also, when it was painfully obvious that he was not seeing the plane TC didn't tell him in what direction to go. Go around and change flight path is too broad and not really helpful in an emergency situation....
Did you see the $50 million Darpa/Lockhead contract? It turns the Blackhawk choppers into automatous drones. They can be controlled remotely or by AI. Testing started last year and is continuing today. Look it up. Also, they have released the names of 2 of the 3 chopper passengers, but will not release the 3rd. I want to know who the 3rd passenger was.
The male pilot requested visual autonomy to make any maneuvers they wanted based on visuals and they confirmed they had the plane in their sight. It was a male. Listen to the recordings.
@ It's just an audio recoding. It proves nothing. There are multiple safety protocols programmed into both passenger and military aircraft, that stops these things happening, and they can not be over-riden. That Blackhawk made be-line to the front of the plane. Plus, show me another time an air disaster happened, where they released the audio from the 'pilot' to the public, the day after. Coincidently, about 2 hours after the news of the Darpa/Lockhead contract went viral on twitter.
Something no one is acknowledging Neil. Most UH-60s have proximity warning systems. The VH-60 Gold Top used for VIP transport would certainly be equipped. It should have been blowing the flight helmets off the crew's heads. Monkeywerx has shown PAT25 originating out of Langley. Might be nothing but considering the words used by reporters (etc.) I can't help wondering if there might have been personnel on the helicopter that weren't soldiers? Possibly alphabet types. Merely speculation but... One thing certain, we don't have enough info at this time to determine anything except 67 (or more) are unalive. Prayers for their families and may they rest in peace.
Helicopter black hawk pilots should be 10X superior to AA commercial pilots .. who were on their designated flight path ... if only pocahantus bernie and the other politician squawkboxes had been on board instead of the ice skaters and other INNOCENTS
Have you seen the erratic flight path of the Blackhawk.? It missed two others beforehand..or it seemed to, it may have been lower altitude. Does a “continuity of government” flight have them fly erratic all over to possibly avoid ground to air?? Missiles??
Three military pilots killed in three months . All three were females. The october 15 crash was a $125,000,000 EA-18G Growler that they flew into an active volcano. Whats going on ?

They're hiring based on a checklist not qualifications
So no crashes in 16 years from DEI but the only thing thay changed is Trump. He ran out there to say"it's not my fault. " Lie all you want but facts are facts. BTW if you listen to left wing media where truth matters they say they were understaffed right away.
@@TimNelsonProfessional OK, assuming that's true. Why? Could it be that they were unable to hire enough qualified talent? If so, why? Could it be a problem with money? Nobody wants to incur all that debt in skool, only to get a badly-paying job, when they could earn far more in another line of work that's less stressful.
People are so very easily fooled and deceived nowadays. There are two main issues that really need to be focused on, regarding this case. First; the BH helicopter is equipped with the absolutely most advanced security system in the whole aviation industry. So that it doesn't collide with other aircrafts midair. It simply can't. It's impossible. Second; the BH helicopter is very well known to be one of the specific aircrafts to be able to control and maneuver remotely. From the ground. Without any pilot in cockpit. Or with any crew on board. Just like a drone.
Last paragraph: Or if the crew were “asleep.” And AI is perfectly capable of mimicking a pilot’s voice to talk to the tower. That sudden rise of 200 feet to hit the plane was just so strange.
I think its more likely the forced medication policies during covid caused it. We still have pilots having "rare" heart attacks frequently. PS: I am referring to the chronic understaffing that has already been acknowledged publicly.
Question/Staement: There’s a lot of things that just don’t add up? This type of crash is beyond rare. My heart goes out to the victims😢 Now, I know my mind likes to think “broadly about theories” especially around these current state of event(fires, hurricanes, plane issues.. etc)?, but this is really truly giving mass Masonic ritual! Hear me out. Trump always questioned these “events” aswell. But now, being president he also said as he addressed the nation, that he signed into law an executive “powerful executive law” to change what Biden messed up about the FAA/ ATC DEI hiring just last week. I think that if DJT makes a case that laws need to be “rushed” through faster than sitting and waiting on congress and bureaucracy, these types of tragedies could be “avoided” by him making the “swift changes” . Watch for this kind of case to be made. If this type of action is pitched by his office in the coming days/weeks…This new law is going to be the last of the Mohicans with regards to America being a “free land of liberty” so to speak. The “checks and balances” would be permanently alleviated and remember Elon in an interview said when speaking about this “Universal HIGH INCOME” that most federal employees can go on permanent vacation and find other things to do with their life soon. I think this is the move that presents that as the federal employees layoffs have already begun. Because if you’ll take notice when Trump address the nation about this, he starts to read the newspaper articles about DEI likely being the issue for this tragic loss. Mentioning (less that qualified people with less than quality attributes, are essentially sitting in the position of FAA and flight controller based on DEI hiring. So, if you can pull at the heartstrings of people, then this is how laws can be changed quickly based on the quote “ emergency” need! Will ai be introduced in the ATC/FAA space? Pay attention! Also, The fact that there were figure skaters from both Russia and US onboard this “American Eagle” plane is actually very interesting as well. There’s a lot of things that just don’t add up? Then Nancy Kerrigan does a press interview that seems very theatrical in my humble opinion. I believe that at this point now people will google “who is Nancy Kerrigan” then a plethora of folks will get lost in the rabbit hole sauce and start to watch her movies. This is a way to use more entertainment to deter us from even more what’s going on. From a Christ Following gal that studied politics, sociology and criminal justice in University and at one point had the desire to work for intelligence, this is just how my investigative mind works and this kind of large scale event large makes it feel more like a sacrifice/ritual for swift law changes rather than an an “accident”. And all the 'players' on their positions. Also, one of the goals of the '1 WG' is total ban of flying. (for us, not them). The easiest way to destroy it is to make it 'vulnerable'...
We’re not being told that one of the helicopter pilots was a female with less than 500 hours she was an extreme rookie. She disobeyed ATC and flew over 200 feet and lied about having visual contact with the aircraft that she then hit. They are purposely not letting people know that the pilot was female.
The fly over for the 2023 super bowl was forbidden to have any male pilots . The pilots were selected based on gender , one of which flew into 14, 410 foot tall mount Rainer on October 15, 2024. There was an analysis report posted after the two pilots' deaths in October which indicated 95% of female pilot crashes are due to their own human error.
This totally stupid idea of selecting people for responsible positions or functions according to colour, creed, or gender is beyond lunacy and should be stopped immediatly. All that counts is qualification and ability, thats it.
@@chelsea_1961I looked it up. The crew in the mount Rainier crash was female Lt.Wileman and Lt.Cdr Evans. Crashed in October 2024. He's not lying just look it up.
Maybe one of the questions should be why is there a military base with full on air training next to one of the busiest airports in America?... Not enough space in your big country?... Is that why you need Greenland?
That was my thought too! And then there’s the thought of was it intentional given the Guard member who killed and injured all those people in New Orleans.
Hence the numbers reported on Fox?..... "Sikorsky UH-60 helicopter while on approach to Runway 33 at Reagan National Airport (DCA) around 9 p.m. local time." "which can carry 15 people, including two pilots, two crew chiefs and two rescue specialists" "According to American Airlines, there were 60 passengers." "Army UH-60 helicopter from Bravo Company, 12th Aviation Battalion" "flights will resume from the airport at 11 a.m."
Killed just one person on the plane? That's government inefficiency for you. Bill Clinton would never waste a whole flight to kill just one person. Ask Ron Brown. Oops, never mind.
@@TubelessXP There was an aborted landing the day before because of a chopper in the flight path. I cited the source in my other comment. How freaking often does this actually occur? You're right, tragic no matter what was said or done but there clearly is something that needs to be done about it.
Helicopters are not supposed to go above 200 feet and are supposed to stay along the river edge. This helicopter broke both of those guidelines Wonder if it was hacked as these choppers can run remotely
I thought it was weird the helicopter pilot didn’t do any last minute evasive maneuvers. If it’s really that hard to see other aircraft in the dark, we have to change a lot about how things are done.
If the pilots were “asleep” or something, AI would have no trouble subbing for them with their voices to talk to the control tower. Not that I think that happened… just throwing forth possibilities.
What needs to be pointed out here is that, twice the ATC questioned the helicopter pilot regarding his visual separation. This clearly because, on Radar, the ATC could see that there was not separation taking place. To this end then, why did the ATC not take control of this situation by directing the helicopter pilot to reset his course so forcing adequate safe separation.
I heard a recording of the control tower telling the helicopter to pass behind the airplane. I've only heard that portion of the recording once and haven't heard it since. I wish I knew the source I heard it from.
I thought it was disturbing how long the contact alert was flashing red and the ATC didn’t say anything to alert the plane or helicopter. The helicopter didn’t seem to make any last second evasive maneuvers either. How did the pilot not see the plane when it was right in front of him those last seconds just before impact?
Did you listen to the recordings? The pilot requested visual separation to fly the plane without radar assistance. Tower ask them are you sure and they requested visual separation a second time saying they had the plane in sight. Pilot was a male. This vastly superior, male military guy insisted they see the plane and they can do this by themselves so tower allowed it and they struck the plane. One of Trump’s first executive orders was to fire every DEI higher. They all got laid off the week before. That’s why they were short staffed in the tower.
The last that is similar to this happened back in 1978. But near mishaps between 2022 and 2023 numbered 503. An increase of 65% from the previous year. A number of months earlier, a push for more diversity in hiring ATC came up.
What I found strange is that somebody was filming the radar screen at the time of the crash. I don't believe in coincidences when it comes to things like this. Very odd.
Unfortunately nearly all the atrocities are likely thanks to this. People have no idea, even when they are parroting the exact words said on tv it never occurs.
Interesting numbers from Fox News: "Sikorsky UH-60 helicopter while on approach to Runway 33 at Reagan National Airport (DCA) around 9 p.m. local time." "Army UH-60 helicopter from Bravo Company, 12th Aviation Battalion" "flights will resume from the airport at 11 a.m."
I've tried freezing cold water in the mountains once - you can't image how much that hurts. I was quite young at that time. The pain of very very cold water on your skin is something that you can't imagine at all. It's pain on a level that you never experienced. Very sad to die like that way. Think of the incident in the Potomac on January 13, 1982.
I'm not a helicopter pilot, but there are several military helicopter pilots and crew masters who have commented on this. They say there's a lot of difficulty flying around this airport due to lots of air traffic, lots of ground lights which make other planes harder to see, and lots of other tasks the helicopter pilot is doing. That said, the helicopter was more to blame than the civilian plane, but air traffic control was understaffed at this busy location, so it's a failure of FAA management to adequately staff this airspace, assuming the details know at present are accurate.
The training route for the helicopters is going south over the Potomac River. The final approach for aircraft landing on runways 1 and 33 crosses over the Potomac River. Both the helicopters and the aircraft are flying a few hundred feet above the river. This was an accident waiting to happen. @@larryross1819 Indeed. But in the US nothing ever happens *prior* to a disaster. The airport (position) and congested airspace have been under heavy critique for a long time due to many near misses.
The helicopter was flown by a DEI female higher with less than 500 hours she disobeyed ATC flew above the maximum 200 feet and lied about having visual contact with the aircraft. Typical pilots in the airlines have over 15,000 hours. She was an extreme rookie, and no white male with that little experience would’ve been in the same situation
It’s a twisted government event. A woman was the pilot. The helicopter was at 375’ elevation. Not at 200’ where it’s supposed to be. Looks like the helicopter intentionally aimed itself directly at the airplane.
Yes, thanks captain. For implying white males are the only qualified air traffic controllers. Thanks for not knowing Trump rescinded DEI in his first day of office and all of them had been laid off, therefore creating a shortage in the tower.
DEI makes sure that veterans get first consideration at any jobs they apply for, at least it does in the US. I think that’s important after they served our country.
@@natalieenglund2871 The DEI mandate promulgated by the Biden administration was absolutely NOT created at all for the benefit of veterans. It might work to an individual veteran’s benefit sometimes in hiring, but the idea that it was INTENDED to be helpful to them is part of the “cover story”- the plausible deniability, now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t ruse which the Biden admin carried out SO often, though not always so well.
I did the dunker training before an internship with Mobil Oil back in 1994. We used to take helicopters to oil rigs off the coast of New Orleans Louisiana. Back then, they put you in a seat and flipped you over 180 degrees, and you had to release the seat belt and swim underwater to a designated point. I was 19 at the time.
he def did! and when he was made to look like a fool because the hiring policy had been around since obama he then lied and said he switched it... not true.. sad day.. he better get his shit together or its gonna be a long 4 years
I'm glad Capt. Steve said, "What I think." has a SMR screen shot without the data blocks. The part your expert fails to mention is while ATC is talking to the Blackhawk if he is looking at the situation screen the data block shows aircraft#, groundspeed, altitude, and type of aircraft. It shows the same information of the American RJ. ATC sees both aircraft on screen. Now would have been the time to point out to the Blackhawk of its altitude The confusion of which plane the Blackhawk may or may not be looking at and says he sees it does not matter. The ATC can see the two aircraft and their data blocks, and they are still closing in on each other with the altitude they are at. This is when ATC should have told the Blackhawk to come to a hold and maintain or divert in the proper direction because if he is looking at the screen waiting for a correction to happen, he watched both data blocks close in, collide, and disappear off the screen in real time when they hit the water.
Then why did a male ask for visual separation and confirm visual of the plane twice? Didn’t hear the audio did you? Hate is always sourced from ignorance.
I saw an interview with a AC controller months ago. He said he always asks the pilot "how many planes do you have visual on?" He said he did that in case there was more than one aircraft that they should have visual on. It doesn't seem like that happened here.
@@HumanErrorCrashReport I keep seeing people writing that the pilot saw another plane, I've questioned one of those people, and the explanation was the tower didn't ask if he had eye contact to the plane with the coordinates of the one they've crashed in. Anyone, I find it strange, as that plane was right in front of them!
@@amiraxperimentalx The other plane was coming from the opposite direction so I do not buy that story. The fact that they suddenly climbed altitude is suspect, in the video it looks like they are aiming for the plane...the helicopter shoots upwards towards it, I don't know all just seems fishy to me.
It's nothing to do with air traffic control. Both planes and Blackhawks have computers that talk to each other, to give precise readings of where each aircraft is. There is an auto adjust on all Blackhawks, that would over-ride a pilot if a collision was imminent. This wasn't an accident.
One issue with ATC is this radio comunication: DC TWR "Pat25 do you have the CRJ in sight?" There were several CRJ's visible to Pat25. The correct radio communication should have been: "Pat25 do you have the CRJ in sight at your 11 oclock?
I was wondering why the controller didn’t say anything like, “ you are on collision course“ and direct the helicopter away from the plane? Like, make SURE the helicopter sees the danger?
You "forgot" to mention that although they were short staffed, the person directing helicopters was allowed to "go home early". Does that sound professional to you?
500hours is not a lot. They said she had more than 500 hour exp in helicopter flying or on a black hawk? Remember 500 hours would be less that 10 hours a week for less than a year
Unless in deployment, you typically only accumulate 175-200 hours annually. Minimum is 96. 500 is pretty decent, especially if on type. Certainly not "rookie" levels. Even if this was only 50 hours on type and mission practice, still need that training.
Thank you, Neil. I always love listening to your common sense. I also listened to Monkey Werx US on TH-cam and he said that the Black Hawk was coming out of a place where they fly important people and he felt that there could have been someone on the helicopter that they were flying and that it wasn't a training mission. Others have said that there was someone who was going to testify. I do agree with you that the Black Hawk was watching another plane and didn't know that the plane that they hit into had just been asked to change their landing area and came in from a different direction. Whatever happened there were so many people affected. So sad. May God be with you and your family.
Surely the Blackhawk crew heard the tower REDIRECT the plane they later hit to runway 33, so they would know that the runway would soon be in use? That sudden climb (against regulations) was just extremely odd.
Being A Retired Air Traffic Controller my Take on this is that the air traffic controller dropped the Ball because he has the Final Responsibility for Aircraft Separation.
I agree. It’s sickening seeing how long that red collision alert was flashing before impact with nothing being done. To be fair to the controller though, there was supposed to be a second controller minding helicopter traffic. I think this accident wouldn’t have happened if the staffing was correct.
@@TheVisitors44 because you don’t know that happens all the time during visual separation incidents, especially with the military and he deals with that all the time. You trust the military when they say they see the plane and you don’t think that the helicopter is gonna climb to 350 outside of their allowed airspace and smack the plane as if on purpose.
Annoyed Trump to Reporter: “That was not a very smart question. I’m surprised, coming from you.” I had to laugh. Hard to know how to take that one. Criticism often gives way to encouragement when Trump is talking to individuals. Unless their “error” has been egregious, he wants to lift them up before he leaves them.
My criticism is that there was no urgency whatsoever in the airport controllers voice at the extremely soon collision if the helicopter did not move out of the flight pathway of the jet. That would have avoided the helicopter crew in thinking it was another plane.
I just wanted another video showing how common it was for helicopters to fly under the planes or close to them. As long as the helo said it had visual the TC didn't have to actually worry as much since they've done this many times.
The pilot had requested visual separation to fly without radar by visual and had said he sees the plane. Tower made sure and pilot repeated visual separation, and he sees the plane. Tower has other flights to manage and this military pilot reassured tower. They’ve got it under control and don’t need towers help. So he trusted the military pilot and this is what happened. Furthermore, Trump stopped DEI and laid off all of the DEI hires and that’s why tower was short staffed.
Trump never blames DEI for the tragic event. Trump clearly says they are working hard to figure out the cause. Trump then clearly emphasizes that if accidents can occur like this, it’s important to focus on the best qualifications rather than diversity initiatives.
Especially the lights that are not moving across the windscreen. If you're focused on the ones that are, you're already toast if there are more than one. If heli was also not on altitude hold mode, but on full manual flying, maybe busting altitude assignment is easier when all focus is outside? Through NVGs.
The DC airport has one of most congested air traffic space in the world, with constant flow of military helicopters flying around commercial air traffic 24/7! Just 24hrs before this crash there was an incident of rerouting due to a conflict with a Helo and airplane flight paths. But in this crash, the Helo pilot verbally took visual responsibility .... but he was grossly negligent by flying in restricted airspace at the wrong altitude ....he was at 300ft...not the required 100-200ft at moment of impact (if reported data is confirmed) ! The airplane was on final glide path, was flying on instruments and at point of landing, and had all rights of way, while the Helo is required to fly visually within this restricted airspace and take special precautions to steer clear & away from any aircraft in its area of flight. This includes the pilot, copilot & crew to be observing at all times. It was a tragic event ....that was entirely preventable if the Helo pilot would have remained below his restricted altitude of less than 200 ft.
The full facts have been explained in the ATC recording of what took place. Trumps statement was prior to having knowledge of the ATC recording. The pIlot on TH-cam explaind it word for word. Military Helicopter pilot was clearly to blame. Have a safe weekend everyone😊 from Paul & Kathy in GB🤝👍😊 Update: Capt Steeve is spot on. Turns out the Hawk pilot has issues and these were expressed prior to this flight.
@@brendaS1533 I've just learned that the Black Hawk pilot was a transgen with issues. That wont help any other sexes that are not Male or Female. Total tragedy
DEI is not an issue as long as the person pass the test. So dont blame the DEI. If the manager employ a staff not base on merit, then is the system fault not having a right manager.
Despite whatever cut backs the Trump Administration is making in government (Which I support, our government is hugely bloated with useless positions) these cut backs are only days old and would have immediate impact on ATC operations at this time.

No, the key point is that the helicopter was flying higher than it's allowed to fly on that route, 350 feet instead of the required 200 feet. Even without visual contact there would have been no collision if the helicopter had followed the rules.
In 88 i studied to take the faa air traffic control test. U had to make 95% or better to be considered (i scored a 92 and didn't get it) but since affirmative action and now DEI, the standards have been lowered and the results are seen. A few years later, maybe 90 the score went down ro the 80 percentile because they couldn't get enough ppl who scored almost perfect scores....for a reason ---safety
The Air Traffic Controller was busy working with the Plane and Helicopter on different frequencies so neither Pilot of Plane or Helicopter could hear what the Air Traffic Controller was communicating to each Pilot. The Plane was request to use a shorter run way prior to preparation to land…this was not a problem. There were other planes making preparations to land. Again the Controller was in communication separately with Pilot of Plane landing and Helicopter. Just prior to collision He communicated with Pilot of Helicopter to drop 300 feet. 3-5 seconds later was the collision. This is a very tragic situation. Will let investigation play out. We know there so much involved that will come up. Thoughts and prayers to all the Souls who lost their lives. May all the families, loved one and everyone involved be given the love, support, comfort and all their needs met 😔❤️🙏
🤔 Who was the DEI hire that caused this crash? Who was the Pilot? Air Traffic controller? Head of FAA? What was there Race, Gender, Testing/Licensing Status? And what actions of theirs caused *This* crash, specifically? 🧐 Know all of that before blurting out "It's DEI"....

IF night vision was involved it's worth remembering that it gives a significantly limited field of view. At night, it could simply be that the helicopter pilot(s) mistook one set of lights for another, and perhaps ambiguous communication is also a factor.
It may take awhile, but I think we are going to find out the Blackhawk helicopter should have had a crew of four instead of three. The missing crew member would have been in position to spot the airliner and notify the pilot of its presence. A Blackhawk has a lot of blind spots and the other crew members have responsibility for covering those blind spots. 🧨
The DEI comment is spot on, for years the government has placed making employment select based on ticking certain personal traits rather than on the ability to actually do the job in a safe and efficient manner.
Trump ended DEI in his first days and laid off all DEI hires. That’s why they were short staffed. Helicopter pilot was male and asked for visual separation and said he saw the plane twice. Helicopter pilot literally climbed outside of his airspace to reach the plane.

From what I have also seen most people in this field of expertise agree helicopter pilot era.
This procedure seems WOEFULLY lacking.
You have a helicopter in the *SAME AREA* as an approaching flight is landing
and you have a helicopter AT THE *SAME FLIGHT LEVEL*
In addition, this is *AT NIGHT* with *LESS ATC Controllers in the tower*
possibly because of a smaller labor pool to choose from due to previous *DEI demands*

Why are helicopters allowed to go into the flight path of commercial airliners landing, seems madness.
It is due to the difficult air space restrictions in the D.C. area.
@@fiennesite Good question though and one not being addressed by media.
Why is there military base
that they practice these maneuvers next to one of the busiest airports in America.... Just STUPID
The helicopter was supposed to be following a route along the river below the flight path of the fixed wings approaching the run way, The helicopter should have been below 200ft, staying below the landing aircraft.
The military should not be doing drills over a busy public airport
DC airspace is always busy so it isn’t a choice of flying elsewhere if a base is located in the vicinity.
The chopper pilot was female with only 500 hours of flight experience. The average is between 2000 to 3000 hours for any pilot in a theater of operations.
@@BlahBlah-l4c DEI military. Another female pilot reportedly flew her aircraft into an active Volcano.
I also heard the pilot of the copter was a M to F transexual and went kamakazi to show Trump the middle finger, but not 100% sure if this is true or not
On purpose, imo
They were NOT flying with NVG.
There is entirely too much ground lights to even wear night vision gear as it would amplify the already existing bright landing lights that are extremely intense for landing. It would impossible to wear them as the image would blinding the user even after adjusting.

Military choppers flying in that area are restricted to 200 feet altitude. The blackhawk in question went from 200' to 300' then at the last minute to 350' as the plane was descending.
WHY? Till we meet again!
!!!!! 🫣 Now THAT’s a big deal. Did the pilots go to sleep?!?
If there was a pilot on board
As with driver less cars,so too has been admitted with helicopters

Mixing commercial air traffic with military is lunacy.
No one is "blaming" the airline pilots. They were exactly on the correct approach path...
Yes, I want to know that.
The male pilot requested visual autonomy to make any maneuvers they wanted based on visuals and they confirmed they had the plane in their sight. It was a male. Listen to the recordings.
@@chelsea_1961 I thought he seemed amused as he said this, but I could just be reading in.

They say there's a lot of difficulty flying around this airport due to lots of air traffic, lots of ground lights which make other planes harder to see, and lots of other tasks the helicopter pilot is doing. What the hell is wrong with a meritocracy? Best person for the job….and scrap ridiculous DEI which is solely a box ticking exercise.
DEI makes sure that veterans get first consideration at any jobs they apply for, at least it does in the US. I think that’s important after they served our country.
Trump rescinded DEI and laid everyone off over a week before this happened. They were shortstaffed because of Trump.
@@natalieenglund2871 not anymore Trump did away with DEI. They were all laid off the week before. That’s why they were short staffed.
@@natalieenglund2871 It's important that they get an opportunity, but no one should be hired for THIS job unless they're qualified. Period.
Clearly you have good survival skills. Good luck.
The same training is still carried out in Scotland. Even those whom work on rigs, now carry out the same training.
Offshore powerboat racers had a similar test
Oh so this whole story is about you. Got it.
I was wondering if you had dunker training
He didn't blame DEI, he said it was one of the issues they would investigate.
But all of his followers are running with it regardless of investigation or facts. It doesn't matter, he presented it and that's all it took
he def did! and when he was made to look like a fool because the hiring policy had been around since obama he then lied and said he switched it... not true.. sad day.. he better get his shit together or its gonna be a long 4 years
@@rockswapna he fully put the blame on it and now is backtracking it
But Trump ended DEI & ordered all DEI hires laid off. That’s why short staffed.
These helicopters have the ability of being flown without a pilot , so now potentially a hack scenario is possible
here we go
Helicopter pilot error. Too high above 200 feet.
Lesbian pilot training DEI
Then why did a male ask for visual separation and confirm visual of the plane twice? Didn’t hear the audio did you? Hate is always sourced from ignorance.
@@chelsea_1961
you understand that the pilot is not necessarily the one talking to atc, right?
How about the traffic vertical separation rule at that location for military helicopters? Who thought 200 feet was a good idea?
Crash occurred around 400 feet, I thought.
Yes, but required separation is 200 feet, which is crackers.
I saw an interview with a AC controller months ago. He said he always asks the pilot "how many planes do you have visual on?" He said he did that in case there was more than one aircraft that they should have visual on. It doesn't seem like that happened here.
Chopper saw the wrong plane.
You think they were supposed to crash into a different plane?
No, I mean they looked too far ahead on the plane taking off.
@@HumanErrorCrashReport sounds fishy to a lot of people : (
It's nothing to do with air traffic control. Both planes and Blackhawks have computers that talk to each other, to give precise readings of where each aircraft is. There is an auto adjust on all Blackhawks, that would over-ride a pilot if a collision was imminent. This wasn't an accident.
THANK YOU! 🙏 Finally some intelligence on this page. ☮️
tell us about the moon landing and JFK too
One issue with ATC is this radio comunication: DC TWR "Pat25 do you have the CRJ in sight?" There were several CRJ's visible to Pat25. The correct radio communication should have been: "Pat25 do you have the CRJ in sight at your 11 oclock?
👍
I was wondering why the controller didn’t say anything like, “ you are on collision course“ and direct the helicopter away from the plane? Like, make SURE the helicopter sees the danger?
The Helicopter shouldn't not have been above 200 ft .
I thought the same but I think the assumption is that TC doesn't need to warn you about traffic moving away from you.
@@TheVisitors44Absolutely “You are on a collision course - you need to increase altitude NOW”
You "forgot" to mention that although they were short staffed, the person directing helicopters was allowed to "go home early".
500 hours for a woman is like 250 for a man ... just saying
DEI was ended by Trump and all laid off causing a shortage. Pilot and tower were men. This guy has got supremacy issues.
Surely the Blackhawk crew heard the tower REDIRECT the plane they later hit to runway 33, so they would know that the runway would soon be in use? That sudden climb (against regulations) was just extremely odd.
Being A Retired Air Traffic Controller my Take on this is that the air traffic controller dropped the Ball because he
has the Final Responsibility for Aircraft Separation.
but he was alone , maybe just too much going on to maintain control.
I agree. It’s sickening seeing how long that red collision alert was flashing before impact with nothing being done. To be fair to the controller though, there was supposed to be a second controller minding helicopter traffic. I think this accident wouldn’t have happened if the staffing was correct.
So neither the plane nor the helicopter having collision avoidance on board that failed is a factor?
@@TheVisitors44 because you don’t know that happens all the time during visual separation incidents, especially with the military and he deals with that all the time. You trust the military when they say they see the plane and you don’t think that the helicopter is gonna climb to 350 outside of their allowed airspace and smack the plane as if on purpose.
@@chelsea_1961👏🏻
The mask nonsense would drive me crazy there😂
Annoyed Trump to Reporter: “That was not a very smart question. I’m surprised, coming from you.”
I had to laugh. Hard to know how to take that one. Criticism often gives way to encouragement when Trump is talking to individuals. Unless their “error” has been egregious, he wants to lift them up before he leaves them.
All the holes in the Swiss cheese lined up
My criticism is that there was no urgency whatsoever in the airport controllers voice at the extremely soon collision if the helicopter did not move out of the flight pathway of the jet.
@@chelsea_1961 Trump had not laid off all the DEI hires. He was complaining about all the DEI hires there.
Reagan airport needs to be given to the military & closed to commercial aircraft.
Why not the other way round?
Surely if the Canadaire was on finals, then that Chopper should not have been on the Final approach track.
The Help pilot took responsibility for VFR separation.
Totally the Blackhawk responsibility in my view as an ex instructor
Trump never blames DEI for the tragic event. Trump clearly says they are working hard to figure out the cause. Trump then clearly emphasizes that if accidents can occur like this, it’s important to focus on the best qualifications rather than diversity initiatives.
But Trump ended DEI and laid off all DEI hires. That’s why they were short staffed.
@ no credible source has reported that DEI layoffs or recent executive orders were the cause of this event.
Depressed trans pilot of the helicopter might have had issues.
DEI-Kills!!
No matter the cause, it's an incredibly tragic loss of innocent, promissing lives. The sorrow of the families is certainly immeasurable. 😔
Chopper crew were using night vision kit that restricts peripheral vision. Ground city lights can make aircraft lights at that location indistinct.
But they were right in front of the heli!!!
Especially the lights that are not moving across the windscreen. If you're focused on the ones that are, you're already toast if there are more than one.
If heli was also not on altitude hold mode, but on full manual flying, maybe busting altitude assignment is easier when all focus is outside? Through NVGs.
Military: ......crickets.......
CCP: DEI, LGBTQ+, uh you first!
FAA Director QUIT on January 20th. He wasn’t fired. He was DEFINITELY DEI. Look up his confirmation by the senate.
Trump ended DEI in his first days and all DEI were ordered to be laid off. Find another excuse.
The helicopter was SUPPOSED to be at 200 feet but was AT 350 feet.....
Apparently CNN announced the crash 6 hours BEFORE it happened. How did they know this would happen??????????????
Because CNN is connected to the CIA!!!!
here we go
The DC airport has one of most congested air traffic space in the world, with constant flow of military helicopters flying around commercial air traffic 24/7!
Random question but what is your opinion on George Galloway? Keep up the great work sir thank you
Truth giver George Galloway
If ATC gave the responsibility to the pilot to maintain "visual separation" then the helicopter pilot was the responsible party.
The full facts have been explained in the ATC recording of what took place.
Trumps statement was prior to having knowledge of the ATC recording.
The pIlot on TH-cam explaind it word for word.
Military Helicopter pilot was clearly to blame.

Update:
Capt Steeve is spot on.
Turns out the Hawk pilot has issues and these were expressed prior to this flight.
Then the question from the reporter wasn't so dumb after all.
The radar showed CA, Collision Alert for sixteen seconds. The controller should have said turn left to both of them.
It was so disturbing to see how long that alert was flashing. That ATC must feel awful they didn’t intervene.
That happens all the time when military choppers request visual separation.

Lovely colours

IF night vision was involved it's worth remembering that it gives a significantly limited field of view. At night, it could simply be that the helicopter pilot(s) mistook one set of lights for another, and perhaps ambiguous communication is also a factor.
Niel you are the first TH-cam channel to use this analysis.
The only thing that sticks out to me is that all pilots and crew have been named besides the female pilot of the copter. Why won’t they tell us? 😂
Haven’t been able to contact the family maybe?
Do they not realize the diverse people that they hire for their lovely rainbow also die in these accidents?
