      Thank you for bringing this up! I should probably clarify that the clip used in that section 2:06 was stock footage. It was an oversight on the editors part that we used that clip that did not demonstrate proper hygiene procedures. We do not in anyway endorse unsafe and unsanitary practices.

    My first (and most recent, since it’s my only one so far) tattoo was covered with dermshield, and it healed well. No scabbing whatsoever, and didn’t get that “ink sack” under it. If I had a reaction to it, I definitely wouldn’t let an artist put it on me again in the future, but since I know it works fine for me, I’ll keep using it/saniderm for my future tattoos. I have 4 cats, so it’s very useful for preventing their fur, etc., from getting in the tattoo when chilling in the house/sleeping during those first several, most-vulnerable days. I understand why one should have caution around using it though, if they’ve never used it or anything like it before to know how their skin would react. But for me, the dermshield/saniderm (same thing basically) plus washing it with antibacterial soap regularly after I took it off and applying CeraVe moisturizer helped my tattoo to heal well. (Though ultimately, I will just do whatever the specific artist of each tattoo tells me to do lol)

    • @Tattooing101
      @Tattooing101  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say first and foremost to follow the aftercare instructions of your tattoo artist. But generally when it comes to washing your tattoo, just gently run it under warm water and use a scentless soap. You do not want to be soaking it or leaving it exposed in the shower for too long especially if it starts to scab

    • @Tattooing101
      @Tattooing101  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do not reapply the same wrap, if you've been given an additional piece of wrap to use by your tattoo artist then use the fresh pair.

    The reason why some have a reaction to Saniderm is because of the latex in it. Which if clients are allergic to, will experience redness/irritation.
    But recently there have been latex-free wraps like Derm Shield that you can buy. I really like adhesive wraps because it’s near idiot proof. It protects them for the next few days, even if they forget about it. Makes me less anxious haha

      good to know. I am allergic to sulfur and sulfates. whenever my skin came into contact with anything with sulfur/sulfates in it, (anything latex - related) my skin would start itching non-stop. which is why i have to use latex - free products.

    Hello
    I just got my first tattoo on my forearm and I work in a warehouse (amazon). You could say it’s a pretty dirty warehouse. I’ve been wearing the second skin for about 3/4 days now (artist advised this) and think it’s time to take it off. When I go to work do you think wearing long sleeve loose fitted dry/moisture wicked shirts are a good idea?My idea is that it’ll protect the tattoo from warehouse dust and dirt but I’m not sure if that theory is true? Thank you in advance

    anyone adivise using sandiderm just at night on day 4 or 5? Just got my tattoo on 4 days ago, had the original sandiderm my artist put on until last night, washed it and put a thin layer of aquaphor. Washed and aquaphored it again this morning but I’m wondering if I should continue to to cover it, especially at night as it rubs against my sheets and my cat likes to sleep in my bed?

      Hey there! Great question, we generally wouldnt recommend it as baby oil is quite thick. The skin wouldnt be able to breath very well and would generally affect the healing process. What we would recommend is unscented moisturiser 2-3 times a day for aftercare!
