Getting my third tattoo next week. My first one was nearly a decade ago now. This is one of the more comprehensive guides I've come across for aftercare. While I have two already and am familiar with the general process for healing, I've found it never hurts to refresh my knowledge beforehand and see if advice for care has changed.
I can see how that works for some people but it was too fast for me because I have ADHD. I had to rewind so much of it that I didn't even get to watch the whole thing, I just stopped. Although, from the information I did understand, it was helpful.

I got 40% of my body tattooed, I use baby lotion (no perfume) for my Long Term Tattoo aftercare. I've got a 22 year old tattoo that is still looking sharp up to now.
The tattoo films are similar to wound dressings we use after surgery, so to make removal easier stretch the film while removing. You'll find it comes off easier than simply peeling it off.
although iam not an expert I beleive ( at least for my body) that the washing gently+ moisturising twice a day is the most important part of the healing . the rest is great if you do it but it's not going to damage your tatoo if you are clean . I may be wrong but that's what works with my body.
Got my first tattoo last week. My artist said I had really nice skin.. I've been watching alot of true crime serial killer shows and it must of shown on my face 🤣🤣 he then clarified that my skin was absorbing the ink well 🤣🤣💀
I'll be getting my first tattoo pretty soon and I'm hella nervous honestly. The aftercare is honestly what's scaring me the most. I'm just worried that I'll mess it up and that it will peel off or something and I definitely don't want that happening.
Try not to stress too much, I got extremely drunk a few days after a huge tattoo and fell and got tore up by branches of a tree. Cuts all over my tattoo a lot of dark blood. Didn’t peel or pull any ink from it, still healed just fine. So unless you plan on taking a chainsaw to it you’ll be fine
Just be gentle, heigenic and dont rub it. Pretend you are washing a newborn baby, scoop the water, soap gently, more water, blot dry, cream, but not too much.
Use silicone based lotions before and after your tattoo. I found ponds anti-aging cream in my pharmacy . It uses dimecone. Anything with -cone is silicone based.
Some days ago, I got a big chest piece done and what I'd bring with me next time is a blanket. I start freezing when I'm in pain for a long period of time.
My last 2 ended late evening and were one 8h session and the other was 2 consecutive days of 8 and 10h sessions each so i slept w the film and cleaned it thw morning, usually do that in general - atleast 5h, just know my skin well enough now. Regular film was used. And i cream twice a day but oh boy is it a layer 😅😅 but again - thats what works for me specificly. Also always put a lil on when i get an itch, thats an obv one
@@JudgeBreddUK yeah It took 35 minutes to get done hurt more then the first one. Not a lot of people have my tattoo just a couple people in each state. What is your tattoo if you don’t mind?
Hey Jacob, I have two words tatted at the back of my elbow. I was sick for a few days and couldn't take care of the tattoo too much and now the peeling has started. I have just 2 small words " Be kind" so I hope I don't have to worry much about taking less care about it earlier.
Hello! size definitely matters, when it comes to taking care of your tattoo. So if you just take care of it from now on, you should be fine! :) Jacob - Team Sorry Mom
wash the tattoo twice per day using antibacterial cream or soap, after taking shower use a tissue not towel to dry it without scrubbing it then use an ointment. only cover the tattoo when you'll lie down on bed 🛌 to sleep. when you wake up, remove the cover immediately and let the tattoo to breathe
Hi guys, I use your balm for the healing process and I do the following: Keep the clear plastic for 2 hours, wash the tattoo area, dry it than apply Sorry Mom balm and just leave it to breathe. I do this for the next 10 days or sometimes depending on the area 11 or 12 days. After that I just use normal hydrating cream just to keep the skin from drying out. What do you think about this method? Or should I go with your film for the healing process? It would be much much easier for me to just use the film instead of the balm. Also another question: Balm or butter? Which is better for the healing process? Thanks
Hi Vlad :) Most of the customers that we are in contact with have experienced better results by keeping the tattoo film on the first 3-4 days. Then, after that period, they start their regular aftercare routine (wash + moisturize 2-4 times a day, depending on your skin) for 2 weeks. After those 2 weeks, to keep your skin hydrated and elastic, then they use the tattoo lotion, to make sure the tattoo is properly moisturized and looks fresh. Regarding the question about the balm and the butter: although the butter has proven to be super effective in the healing process, the balm was specifically developed for that purpose. Therefore, if you need something for the healing process exclusively, we'd say you should go for the balm. We hope this was helpful! :)
@@SorryMomTattoo Thanks , just what I thought and that is why I am going with your balm. After 10 days I found out that my tattoo is healed (with the exception of the knee area which is more delicate). After the days I think I will try the butter to just keep the skin elastic and from drying out. Anyways keep up the good work and the great products. Cheers
Very comprehensive guide, but what I actually came looking for was missing. My artist said to moisturize it 3-4 times a day, I wanted to check what others recommend on this and if I have to completely wash the tattoo 3-4 times a day everytime before I apply the cream anew (which I would.
@lufcbrice Ive been washing it 2-3 times a day (morning, afternoon, before bed) and I switched from the tattoo cream to unscented moisturizer earlier since I had a little reactive spot that was red. But it's been healing nicely now. I only wash it once a day now and put cream on when its dry. :)

Hi, before I put my wrap to seal the tatoo should i put and ointment? or put on the fresh tattoo dry? ive been tattooing on practice skin for 3 months now
Its like buying your first pair of really expensive shoes. You take care of them in the beginning, buy all necessary cleaning gear ect. After some month, you just let it fend for itself 😅😂
I usually take the cling wrap off right after i get home, wash it gently, pat dry with clean paper towels, (twice a day) and add my tattoo balm, and keep doing that till the swelling goes down and it’s now so raw, after about 2 or 3 days after i wash i let it air dry for about 30, mins then i add my balm so that way the tattoo has time to breathe and start to go through the “crusty” stage while i let it air dry, and then again like i said, still adding balm until it’s mostly all healed on top then i add my unscented, sensitive skin lotion on it to keep it from scabbing and only just peeling like it should

Hey can anyone give me some tips about what to expect for getting a tattoo? I mean I know it's going to hurt, I know I’m going to be nervous but can you tell what else to expect please?
Hello Aiden, most people overthink the first tattoo and yes its going to hurt, some places more than others :) However, eat before you go there, bring snacks/something to drink, bring something to watch on your phone or talk with the artist. I hope this was useful because in the end, its not that bad (most places) but thats it! Best regards - Jacob Team Sorry Mom
I just got a tattoo and the new type of film he put on it bubbled up..a bit of water got inside the film..Should I take it off and moisturize the tattoo and put old school wrap on it?
Hello, I'm not a dermatologist, however i would find out, if theres is any ingredients that your skin react bad with. What I can say is, that I have used both our lotion & balm for years without any issues :) Jacob - Team Sorry Mom⚓
What a great video atleast for me who just got a new tattoo. But i have a question if u dont mind to answer this, i asked my tattoo artist bout what am i supposed to do next when im taking off the plastic cover for the tattoo, and he said that i dont have to do amything after taking off the cover. I just got this tattoo this day on my tricep. Thankss

I got my tattoo last Wednesday. My skin is good and well moisturized bcs my habit is put body butter after shower. I can feel the itchiness which is so tempting to scratch, but thanks to the cream prevents me from doing so. I want to get more tattoos in the future 😂
While cleaning shall we wash it with water.. my artist suggested not to let it be in contact with water for 10-15 days after the first wash after one hour of making the tatoo..plz answer
I got very bad advice from the tattoo studio i went to. they told me to take off the wrap after 2 hours and apply the healing cream 4 times a day. I'm very glad i checked out a video because it felt a little odd. Im on the day after getting my tattoo, I have now cleaned and applied cream like you stated in your video. should i use plastic wrap more? and for how long? thanks in advance
Hello! The clingfilm/plastic wrap is only useful for your tattoo til and from the artist. Some people use the wrap while they sleep to avoid getting the excess ink and blood on their bed but other than that, you should not use it. Unless you are talking about Tattoo film :) Jacob - Team Sorry Mom⚓
Hi guys! Thanks for the great video. Got my fist tattoo 14 days ago and it’s healing great. My question is, how many after can expose the tattoo to outdoor conditions: sun, rain, wind, dirt, etc.. Thanks!
Hello David! when your tattoo is healed you can start to expose it to most stuff, however sun is never great for the tattoo, so use as much protection as possible however after a month you can pretty much expose it to whatever. We recommend you keep it from salt/chlorine water for 3-6 months. Jacob - Team Sorry Mom ⚓
Hey guys.. i got my tattoo on Tuesday kept the regular foil on for 2 hrs I took it off washed the tattoo and moisturized it with the tattoo balm… the next day I washed it again and I put the balm again… the same day I want back to my tattoo place they cleaned it and put the tattoo film on and told me to have that on for 7-10 days after that to start the cleaning process and healing… so my question is it’s been 4 day since they put the tattoo film can I take it off and start the healing process?

We are well aware of Barber DTS, they also sell our aftercare products and is one of our most important partners :) We are glad to hear, that you had great success with "Fade the Itch". But as i said, we cannot as a company indorse products that we know nothing about. Jacob - Team Sorry Mom

Can I use this Bepanthen Nappy care Ointment cream daily after done Tattoo
I have a question. After the tattoo is healed completely, i know i have to mositurize it twice a day. But when the sun is too strong outside, do i use moisturizer or sunscreen or both. I mean, do i have to apply sunscreen on top of the moisturizer ? Please let me know. Thanks!
Just use the sunscreen when you're exposing your tattoo to the sun. End of day I'd recommend using the tattoo lotion.
Is aquascream recomended to appy for after care
So how long do I use the cling film for like how many days and what time of days
Kan man egentlig anvende medicinsk honning? Til healings processen?
If i have the aveeno fragrance free body lotion is that ok to apply after the tattoo balm?
If the tattoo is fresh and new, use the tattoo balm on the tattooed area, and the body lotion on the rest of your body.
I love the way this guy talks so much. It's so mesmerizing

Hi have some questions. I hope you can help me out. I just got my half sleeve 3.5 weeks ago. It looks like my tattoo is done peeling. Should I stop washing my tattoo with antibacterial soap? Or when should stop washing with antibacterial soap? Please let me know.
Great video! Thank you!
The insane itch that comes with tattoos tho it's soooo difficult to not scratch 🤣
How long does it take to completely blend with the skin? I got it 17-18 days back. It is only partially blended with the skin. I am lil worried
I have failed at everything in this video
I just showered and removed the saniderm in the shower, cleaned it with the proper soap , now it’s clean and dry so I apply the cream? Or do I just put the new layer of saniderm
Brilliant easy to follow guide...thank you
I have a few tattoo today and it wasn't covered up.is that a bad thing? I went to a shop
Can i play soccer on the 4th day while i am still wearing the saniderm? Or should i remove it or i shouldnt play at all?
Sorry mom tattoos😂😂love it
We love you ⚓
And after how much time should we not use film anymore. Im doing it 5 of november and I will stay at home on vacations until 14 november. You think 1 week out I should wear it to work?
I just got my wrist tattoo yesterday and going to take the second skin off Tomorrow morning to clean it. What type of over the counter soap can I use that is safe for it?
If I use the adhesive skin do I put any balm on it before covering?
No, just make sure it's completely clean and dry!
But my tattoo is under my sleeves, how do I go about that?
Do you have to apply mousturiser on the tattoo before putting that second skin on
No! Make sure that the tattoo is clean and completely dry before you apply the Tattoo Film on it.
What moisturizershould i use i keep getting bumps n whiteheads on my tattoo
Hello, I'm not a dermatologist, however i would find out, if theres is any ingredients that your skin react bad with. What I can say is, that I have used both our lotion & balm for years without any issues :) Jacob - Team Sorry Mom⚓
What a great video atleast for me who just got a new tattoo. But i have a question if u dont mind to answer this, i asked my tattoo artist bout what am i supposed to do next when im taking off the plastic cover for the tattoo, and he said that i dont have to do amything after taking off the cover. I just got this tattoo this day on my tricep. Thankss
Hello and thanks for the great words! sorry for the late answer. However it depends if its tattoo film or cling film. However you should just keep your tattoo clean and follow a aftercare rutine :) Jacob - Team Sorry Mom⚓
Ik after 2weeks your tattoo will be healed, but dermatologist say on Google to wait 3 to 6 months till its fully healed
Your artist is on some serious substances.
So leave the tattoo film on for 2-3 days after the tattoo is done, only then take it off?
@@SorryMomTattoo thanks for the answer. ended up only using it during sleep for the sake of my wife
@@SorryMomTattoo thanks guys! So no pool for 3-6 months?
Hey guys.. i got my tattoo on Tuesday kept the regular foil on for 2 hrs I took it off washed the tattoo and moisturized it with the tattoo balm… the next day I washed it again and I put the balm again… the same day I want back to my tattoo place they cleaned it and put the tattoo film on and told me to have that on for 7-10 days after that to start the cleaning process and healing… so my question is it’s been 4 day since they put the tattoo film can I take it off and start the healing process?
I was told to keep the film on for 6 days after the tattoo
Hello Nilloc, 6 days might be a bit long, however nothing to be alert about :) Jacob - Team Sorry Mom
Thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you!
I got my first on my leg and I didnt wear the wrap or film but it looks the same its in the peelin process itch bad
But my tattoo artist said, keep it on for 4-5 days, no tattoo care within
Hi there! We would generally recommend that you always follow your artist's instructions - unless it sounds extremely off :)
So you only clean with water? No soap?
Stupid Question I have the wrap on and leaving it for 24 hours then washing it
Before I put the second wrap on for 2 days should I add lotion or what?
im really interested to take similar tattoo what you have in this video. can i get some more pictures of it somehow?
Hi, Can i apply cethapil moisturizing lotion on the 2nd day after session?
Hello Jones. We dont know anything about cethapil, however we made a video about which type of moisturizer, you can use and which ingredients is important for your new tattoo. Jacob - Team Sorry Mom
I’m confused. For 2nd day reapplication, should I moisturize before placing new film on?
No, no make sure the tattoo is clean and completely dry before you apply new film
