    My husband, daughter and I have jumped into at home tattooing (just us, no clients, just starting) and the tip for stability that I used on my first real skin tattoo is breath. I am a photographer and breathing is a part of keeping steady for macro photography detail. Keeping breath steady or holding during detailed spots I found key for me.

      It’s insane how well other skills translate into tattooing
      In archery I would have to pick a spot on my face and always bring my thumbs bone to that same spot as a anchor to keep me steady and my grouping very close together when I’d shoot and then I found out some tattoo artists use a a similar anchor technique to keep the same needle depth when pulling line except with their pinkie finger on the skin

    tip: some of us obviously use reelskins for practicing. best way to apply stencil - put some baby powder and rub it in, then put a little bit of stencil solution (it creates more like an actual skin feel) and put the stencil on. comes out more crisp. leave it to dry for at least 2 hours and your stencil wont wipe away anymore when practicing.
    also: if you have stencil marks left on reelskin that messes up with the tattoo or just want to clear the stencil out thats already solid in there - put some household bleach on top for few hours and the stencil will be gone.
    hope this helps someone !

    Your tip about having 3 points of contact was crucial for me! My lines were all over the place before. Now I have only maybe one or two lines I need to touch up at the end. The overall quality of my work easily doubled.

    I haven’t been doing this for very long, but hand stenciling has helped me a lot. I just get a design I like, but some stencil paper under it and trace it over and over again until it’s perfect. I’m using a pen with an old rotary attached to it so I’m getting two bird with one stone. :)

      Gum tip is 100 especially if your tattooing a smelly client 🤣. When I first went to the axys Valhalla with its adjustable stroke it was a game changer, that 4.2 just rocks lines in with no effort. I personally think I was able to move at least 25% faster with my hand speed while pulling crisp lines.

      He doesn’t want me to use fake skin and I don’t want to practice on people. He doesn’t want me to buy an inkjeta, I think because he’s trying to help me save money but still it would help to hear the feedback

    • @BadDecisionsJeep
      @BadDecisionsJeep ปีที่แล้ว

      I kind of understand a little of where it sounds like he's coming from but I disagree. While I feel like fake skin hindered me as much as it helped I still feel like it was worth doing. The actual feel is way different than human skin so it gives you a slightly different process which can be counter productive. Though I was able to make my setup and teardown process more natural and second nature which was the bonus I got from it.

Also remember that hygiene and safety is the no.1 priority! Building good habits and a strong foundation from the start will carry through to your end results :)
