Great tips, like them all, especially the 'get social' - part (being with a small group of family or friends), because that has saved me many times and is the best distraction for me, even when I'm severly depressed and initially want to be alone. I think it's also important that people know that we can never be perfect, we're all perfectly flawed haha. The not so pretty sides of you are also worth it.
My favourite mental health tip is that life isn't always happy. Don't expect it to be, so don't chase fleeting happiness, rather find things that are meaningful to you and chase those instead.
Favorite mental health tip: find a hobby. I did and it’s really helped me connect with others. Which helped my sense of loneliness. Thanks for this video it was really super awesome.
Help me find a hobby apart from playing the same game every day I need something to do with my life while I do my education and I also think about going to the gym but I get so nervous when I go to places like that or go on public transport etc
Animals are another great tool! I rescued an adorable pit bull in August and as hard as it's been to help her work through her past abuse it's been so rewarding and just as good for me as it has been for her! I rarely have been as proud in my life as I am of her. It's only been 3 months but she's already a totally different dog! She's helped my sleep too and brings me out of getting stuck on my bed in hard moments when she literally gets in my face.
A healthy body is one that is in good physical, emotional and mental health. Our health is more valuable than anything else we have. It is a secret of a happy man🌷
I’m realizing now that a lot of my mental health/imbalanced life came from not having a friend circle that I consistently turn to. And I tried to make up for that with some repetitive behaviors that really didn’t give me what I needed. I guess I’m just trying to figure out what I enjoy now and it’s been a cool process of self-discovery, even better having a Christian therapist!
I’d say my favorite tip that I share with my clients, and practice myself, is remembering to laugh. It’s priority for me to watch at least 30 minutes of standup comedy a day. It’s changed my life, and the clients I serve.
A old friend of mine who is not my friend anymore once told me “whenever you feel depressed/ anxious/ like giving up look at your hands. At the end of the day you do a lot with them, use them throughout the day think about what they have touched” well I can’t remember exactly everything he said but he said something like that. And ever since it’s stayed with me.
I have Mental iisues and it sometimes scares me. I have also been in a mental Hospital That was even more scarier. You see all kinds of Mental Hospital patients and what they go through.I am so glad to hear you on my iPad today. It gave me more ideas of what I can do to help me and may have an impack on someone that is willing to be helped.. I wasn't willing or was scared to get it when it was right there in frontofme.
Thank you so much, I'm 14 and I REALLY want to be a clinical psychologist when I'm older. I'm glad that this channel exists because I'm learning so much!
I make sure I take time out each day for myself to decompress & have some quiet time. Find this really helps to bring me back ‘online’ with myself and helps relieve the stress of the day.
Nice! I really enjoyed and appreciated this video. Thanks for taking the time to collect all of these tips and share them. Some of my favorites that I love using are making art, journaling, going for walks, and processing my feelings with trusted friends.
I recently discovered your channel and I am so glad I did! I am doing my Masters in Clinical Psychology and I really enjoy your content. My favourite mental health tips are: - spending time with loved ones - embracing a passion (fantasy for me :D) - healthy lifestyle without being overly restrictive (physical activity, lots of vegetables and fruits) Greetings from Germany :)
@@selingermann5599 By fantasy I mean my favourite fantasy books (and movies/ shows), drawing and dressing up as my favourite characters, talking about magical worlds with friends and family,...., and my imagination in general. We can find so many magical things and especially moments in our everyday lives, it is just a question of perspective and selective perception.
Love this, love all videos so far! I think acceptance is the master key . Acceptance put us in observer mode and not only recognize a feeling, emotional or thought but enjoy it and release - it could take seconds, minutes or days - but you'll have a full experience and this is freedom!
Really great tips! Getting regular sleep and exercise and meditation has been the most beneficial to me. Useful habits help breed automatic stress-reducing behaviors I think.
When I'm crying, I cry to my rabbit because she makes me laugh. I also have dance parties, watch comedy shows and, if I am upstairs by myself, I ALWAYS make sure I have my door open, as that's like a visual way for my thoughts to float out of my head.
These are all so important. I'm trying to get my anxiety down because I ran out of refills and its so high that I can't seem to calm down. I've been feeling like I'm in a dream, like nothings real and I'm so lightheaded and anxious AF. I just want to stay inside and wait until I can get to my doctor again. So shaky too. I hate this. The only thing that's gotten me to somewhat calm down is I learned how to finger knit. I had some chunky loopy yarn and made a scarf. That only worked for like an hour though. Then I ran out of yarn. So my favorite tip is find something you can give all your focus to. Even if its just an hour. It still helps.
Master Time. Put clocks in each room. Chimes in a couple of them, you'll fun time doesn't speed by with nothing in between, and you'll do more with the time you have because you are now more aware of how much time is in a day. Being productive is super important 👌
My old therapist told me to think of a word. I chose "Africa" as my word, as that's where I really, really want to work. He said that, when you choose a word that you associate with happiness or a good memory, it helps you to get into a slightly better mindset or something.
"connect with ppl" - Covid and the fact that everyone moved to a different country and Im the only left here and haven't made new friends because of covid IS an issue so that rly just makes me feel bad rip
I love this because it is realistic and human. So much in this area seems sterile and meaningles, like a set of photocopied rules, they maybe technically correct but they have no soul
"one of the best antidepressants is to get your body moving" yes, but it's also important to not overwhelm yourself, i can't stand for very long without pain bc of physical disability so i do sit down low impact exercises and don't go for longer than i can handle. it's important to be careful and not overwhelm your body when trying to help your mind
Because of this video, I thought that things would be less stressful than I expected, and that changed what I expected, which made things way more stressful than I expected...
My Mental health Therapist comes to my house for our sessions I'm agoraphobic and have many issues dating back to growing up leaving home at 15 due to abuse and things just got worse Life is a struggle at 72yrs old now I still struggle But my therapist Laura has shown me how to cope with many of my issues I could go on and on but then i would be writing my own book about life Good luck to all don't give up Don't like your therapist keep looking for a new one Who understands you And can learn from you
Mental health tip for people with depression : get moving. You don’t have to work out or go for a walk, even that can feel like too much a lot of the time. But if you find yourself in bed in the middle of the day, do something that distracts you from all the feelings inside, and after like half an hour get up. Even if you move to the couch. Change the scenery around you, go sit outside if you have a garden or a balcony. Being in a different place will help your mind get unstuck as well.
My mental health tips are to have a strong support system or a close group of people that truly care about you. Also, find something you are passionate about for work, and to grow as a person. But fist and foremost, love yourself and use kind self-talk.
I think anyone can benefit from watching this video. I especially loved your thought experiment to identify what holds value to you, I have had trouble connecting with things that are meaningful to me but using your experiment I can make a quick list and start to build around those things :D Thankyou.
I have been inpatient probably 20-30 times sinse i was 11 years old. A lot of the coping skills are the same, new treatments such as DBT and such do come out. My favorite Mental health tip is having a support system even though i believe it is the hardest to maintain for a long time. In this day and age i enjoy connecting to groups such as your you tube channel and vloging on my own to try to build a community where people can talk and help each other out even if its in a comments section.
