So the cigar thing. In the UK it's called 'topping off'. The chimney (when people had fireplaces) or final slate going in is when the outside of the house, or even the whole house, is finished to first fix and work can begin in installing electrics, etc- at least in the old days. There were drinks if the workers were lucky of, at least, a beer or even something stronger, and a cigar (again, the latter in the old days) as celebration of the event. Sometimes the unlit cigars or the put out ends would be ensconced in the tiles/chimney as a reminder of the 'ceremony'. Hope that helps! LOVE ALL your channels - me and mine are avid fans. I'm even learning Dutch now as you've made us want want to visit Holland!

I guess its an Australian thing not to be afraid of Spiders, otherwise you have a problem in Australia.
It is so nice to have great friends and great brothers to help out when they are needed. He is a very tough guy that is a lot of hard work.
I removed a chimney that was in the middle of a house. I had to knock a hole at the base and drop the bricks down the center to my crew so they could carry them out of the basement

Speaking from experience being in the construction industry, that is proper hard work. You guys are very lucky to have a very good builder as a very good friend. He knows his stuff and I'm pleased for you to finally get the chimney stack down. It must be a big load off your mind. Hope you are all doing well. Looking forward to seeing the next vid
It was crazy hard work, especially the last part where Hannie was working above his head! We couldn’t do this renovation without Hannie that’s for sure! 🙌

Great job especially working with the devils building material. We had the pleasure of finding it when renovating this place the first time
🤦♀ but safely got rid of it, thankfully it wasn't a lot.
Be great when you fill in the roof maybe a sunlight for the space or are you putting tiles there. Renovating is frustrating but the finished job is such a pleasure and brings so much satisfaction especially when you stand back and say "I did that" there's nothing like it. Keep going things are moving and the results are going to be awesome

I did asbestos abatement for years. You did good, nothing to worry about.
That is a true friend to remove asbestos for you. I was so afraid he was gonna fall standing on the outside on those bricks. Now you need to patch up that roof pronto! Awesome.

Not saying this for pity or sympathy, but my dad died from mesothelioma, the cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Glad you got proper masks and aren't mucking around!
