House remodel deconstruction/construction is hard work and is very time intensive. It will be worth it in the end.
well done dear!! donmt stress so much, dutch saying: 'Haastige spoed is zelden goed" 😏
Awesome !!! 💙💞🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💞💙
Big Hello from Australia 🇦🇺 You are doing a great job you should be proud of what you have accomplished.Look forward to all your videos on both channels 👍😊
Getting there can’t wait to see it all done it’s going to be amazing xxx
Well have to upload another video for this week 😄
I will look out for it xx
I appreciate you doing double-duty...all that finish work, on a tight schedule, while taking the time for camera work added to the stress.
This is killing me! A cliff hanger! 😅
Dont be so hard on yourself. I know you are stressed, but life goes on. haha Im sur it turned out wonderfully. Cant wait to see it.
We’ll have to upload another video this week! Can’t wait to show the end result 😃
Oh my. I feel you are making it alot harder on yourself. Kiss little Johnny.😁🤟
You really make a nice opening to the video. Very nice 👌
Thank you! All because the mics didn’t work 😂
Hello mate. As you know I've been a painter and decorator for over 30 years. Don't use paint stripper. Get yourself a decent palm sander and sand over the paint. Any areas showing bare wood use a zinnser primer and then wipe over with a damp cloth. You'll only get off a layer at a time as each layer absorbs the liquid stripper. Also wear safety glasses and latex gloves next time. You don't want that in your eye or skin. It burns!
Never painted on that type of plaster. Over here we use the pink plaster. So i would always apply a mist coat first which is a watered down first coat to penetrant and stick to the plaster. For sanding down new plaster. If the plaster is good you shouldn't need to sand it over. Use a fine filler for any small holes. I would recommend toupret le reboucheur if you can get it and i always use Dulux trade paint. Its the best and covers in two coats. Hope that helps 😊
Thank you for the tips mate! It’s been a while since this video but will definitely remember for the future 😃 Hopefully we’ll never have to use that paint stripper ever again 😅
@NickyandLeigh I don't blame you haha. Honestly when my customers ask for liquid stripper I always talk them out of it. Your home is looking so good. You and everyone involved have done a fantastic job! Take care mate and see you in the next vid
Well done Leigh looking good xx
Thanks very much 😃
Hardworking Leigh! Chin up, carry on 😊. Doing great ❤
Thank you! 😃🙌
87 yo, and now this... this house is a "new" house, and i cant wait to see when it`s finnish.
The opening overdubbing is like an episode of Thunderbirds TV, or a foreign film with English subtitles 🤣
Eeeyoooooouuu!! 🤙
Haha! Hopefully it wasn’t too weird 😂😂
@@NickyandLeigh it was funny, love it.
You did a good job brother. You made me tired and you’re the one doing all the work. Lol.
Thank you 😃😃
Great, an early video. The house is coming along nicely.
Thank you! 😃
Incroyable le changement c'est beau bisous à Nicky
Parabéns linda sua cAsa
Also be careful that the old layers aren’t lead based paint!!!!
Too late now
Thanks for the warning! Actually haven’t thought about that 😬
13:13 Should have just used a block brush and a normal brush for dificult spots. Doesn't take long to put primer on the walls.
old paint is lead---just fine sand top layer and paint over
PVA GLUE is the go to plaster sealant, and a bloody site cheaper...
5:21 If the paint was good but only dirty, clean it, sand it and repaint. If the paintjob is ugly (thick, blobs, damage) or the paint doesn't stick, best to remove all paint. Use a heatgun and not chemicals. It's faster and cheaper.
Thank you! The paint was so thick so it has to go, but if I knew it would be such a big project I’d probably just sanded and repainted 😅
@@NickyandLeigh I have been there. Also tried chemicals, thought it would be easier. But it takes time, is expensive and the results are poor. The paintjob in my house was terrible, thick layers, damaged, drippers etc. I had to do a lot of wood, so bought a heat gun. All in all it was a lot of work redoing all the wood, but when it was finished it was all worth it and I will enjoy it for years to come. If the biggest part of the paint is good on your wood, clean it, sand it, repair where is necesarry and repaint. Always take your time preparing and doing a job, the results will be better, you work faster and you will enjoy your work everytime you look at it.
I used a paste to remove paint from my cast iron fireplace and it took off lots layers.
We sealed our paster walls watered down emulsion paint
The trim on stairs would look Lovely painted Black. It would make the stairwell Pop.
That could be pretty cool! Well have to consider it 🤩
@@NickyandLeigh , only a suggestion. I Love what you're doing with your place. Making it Majestic again. 👍🏻
Look over into the corner of my British bedroom. Paints cracked. Feels bad. Good technique learnt for next time.
Sorry to hear that! But glad to give some useful tips 😃 It’s always good to learn these things 😄
Hello 👋🤗❤❤
Leigh, don’t use silicone kit on wood that you had to paint.
Silicone and paint don’t match.!!!
Your floors are going to be awesome I’m so jealous… my floors are like ice from November to March it’s a rental that’s over 120 years old. Have fun painting it’s instant gratification you can step back and say I did that you just have to look at it from a positive angle 😊❤
Thanks Bev! Sorry to hear about your floor, cold feet are the worst! Putting down lots of rugs helps 😃
You looked so tired there!!😢
It’s been non stop!😅 Too much to do and not enough time but we’ll keep going 😃
you said how much the sealant was in euros and dollars, but what about the UK , we use the GDP sterling, so don't we deserve to know the price in POUNDS STERLING?
Just googled it, it’s about £16 😄👍
Don't try to have a too clean house, it's not good for children... Gut microbiome.... 😑👍
8:27 Dude you have a heat gun! Just use it properly. :-S
How?
@@NickyandLeigh You got to use both hands. One with the heat gun in it and the other wearing a (thick) leather glove which has the scraper. You usually can put the temp of your heat gun pretty high and blow the air over a small part of the painted area. But never blow the air in just one spot, move/wiggle the air over the area. When the paint begins to bubble, you can begin scraping it off. At the same time you begin heating up a new area. That way you can work fast. And also wear a mask for potential dangerous fumes and be sure to ventilate. Good luck!
Bro, you should wear a mask when using paint stripper. It’s acid and while it’s stripping the paint it releases acid vapour. (I mean when applying it wet and it’s in the air) Happened to me renovating my bathroom wallz. Ghastly!
Too late now. It was about 9 months ago.
@@bridgwllThey only bought the house a year ago, and other renovations have progressed before this. Why are you making things up?
@@ThexBorg they live in this house.
@@bridgwll Leave it to Leigh to clear it up, ok. Please don’t make things up to suit yourself.
@@bridgwll And, If you actually followed the timeline of Leigh’s magnet fishing and baby announcements and house purchase announcements on that channel as I’ve been watching for a couple of years, you wouldn’t say what you said.
Why arnt you using gloves it burns bad. Good luck
Too late now.
Thanks! It was okay, no burns but I wouldn’t leave it on the skin too long 😅
Hi Leigh and Nicky it's coming on really well now. I didn't realise these vids are that old. They must be 10 months old ?
Yes the videos are from last year, we filmed everything and started the TH-cam channel and then we just got too busy to keep up! We thought about canceling the channel but so many of you wanted to keep watching the progress😃🙌 So although it’s been filmed a while ago, we hope you enjoy the videos 😊
