It may be that some people have taken umbrage at the use of red rubber grease (vegetable based, intended to lubricate rubber seals etc.) on the caliper pins when most opinions seen to favour a silicone based dielectric grease that won't wash away from the pins causing them to msybe seize. Or it could just be 6 tw@%$! 😁

I've always fancied a black and red Avon Acclaim Turbo, kinda a proto MG Montego, reminds me of my 85 Civic Sports S which was deep black with red highlighting and red panelled black seats and door cards. It was what the Acclaim could have been if they had factored in a 2 dr version or Triumph badged the Civic into a hatch. I swapped my Civic for a 3.0 Ghia MK3 Capri which had an insane blood red interior but the exterior was silver with a vinyl roof and a thirst that was unbelieveable, had enormous pulling power though and whipped up to the ton fairly rapidly, oh I did love that Capri.

I found the rubber grease far too slippy and resorted to clean brake fluid . i trust you replaced the retaining clips the correct way around . I always seat the brake pad stainless steel guides using copperslip grease . but what do I know I am a 76 year old and still mechanicing . Quite a lot slower now .But still enjoying it .
