    For all of those inquiring, yes he removed the pistons and seals. This is the 3rd installment of a 3 video process. (How to remove the brake calipers[1], How to clean the brake calipers[2], and lastly, How to powder coat the brake calipers[3]). 👍🏻

      @h82crash 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why? Besides the exhaust, brakes are the hottest operating parts of the car. Seals can withstand much higher temps than a PC oven. Even to the point the powder coating burning is a concern.

    Eastwood's powder coating gun works GREAT for the money. But to make MUCH more efficient, you have to remove that diffuser and use very low pressure.

    Great video man. Very nice for a first timer. Advice: remove the tip of the PC gun, lower the air pressure, you were overspraying at some point and the air filter aka water trap works better if you use it closer to the gun, meaning the other side of the hose. Next time you’ll do even better 👌🏻

    Don’t need to remove the seals. They experience higher temps on the track. There’s a lot of supporting information on that. And, you can cure at 390F. And yeah - wear eye protection and definitely- a filter mask, kid. Long sleeves. PPE is important.

    • @Freedom_is_better_than_safety
      @Freedom_is_better_than_safety 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you’re saying there’s no need to tear down brake calipers to powdercoat them? I haven’t seen any literature on this, but I always assumed they had to be torn down to coat so nothing internal or the external seals would be damaged.

    • @reecemyrie1742
      @reecemyrie1742 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always best to remove everything, what he doesn’t say if there is any grease or fluids trapped anywhere when heated up they will drip over the part while in the oven

    I want to do this on my unfinished front Brembo brake calipers. Since they are Brembo would it be bad of me to paint the Brembo logo on the calipers? Could you even do that with powder coating?

    What about outgassing? This import with brake calipers they are porous and hold oil . Under heat these oils wil ruptsure and release to the surface .leaving you with an inferior spray job. So why not before coating ,you put in oven to outgass riding the deep porous pockets of oil , grease and grime. Then if you spray you get a better job in the end. Just look it up , you should already know.

    You should have NOT mentioned using the wife's oven period. It is very toxic, and it should be a dedicated over for powder coated parts. Secondly, the pistons and dust covers should have been removed, the part prebaked (to remove contaminates), THEN cleaned/sand blasted.
