    This is incredibly concerning me. I’m 26 years old now and I feel like my application won’t even be reviewed. It’s impossible to set goals when there’s likely outcomes you can’t control. This career as bad as I may desire it, the reality for me is may or may not happen. I’m concerned the driving record will haunt me, they will find unintentional inconsistencies on my resume or old applications, (mainly because I applied years ago randomly) without understanding how important and detailed these need to be . Nothing major, no criminal record etc but the negative thoughts about how likely it is to get dq is quite discouraging.

      You should not let any worries stop you from applying. Keep at it I know an officer who was told no 50+ times and is now a great supervisor

      @@Leadbyexample111 Hey man, i'm currently going through the process right now at 23. I would say not to worry about it, as Armogan said typically departments aren't entirely concerned with other agencies reasons for not hiring you. But if they do for some reason ask, just be honest. Honesty is key in my opinion, just keep applying and make sure your effort is the same across the board. Don't put in 110% for one agency and then half ass the next. Full send each, go in with the mindset that you WILL and SHOULD get hired. Stay consistent, honest, and keep trying if it doesn't work out. And this goes with out saying, don't disclose anything that isn't relevant to the hiring process or anything that they aren't asking about. Good luck!

      Hey David, I am also 26 years old, and I am going through the same situation here in California. I have had 10 agencies non-select me and another 2 DQ me. I literally have never been in trouble with the law, and I have been at the same job now for 7 years. I was a troubled teenager but not violent one. I was expelled my sophomore year of high school and that was the last time I ever got into trouble. I don't know why agencies are crying wolf for applicants but turning away those who are trying without even doing a field investigation on them. Just hang in there and hopefully something will happen for you soon. Someone out there will give us a chance one day and give us the shot we deserve.

    I’m in the middle of the background process. I’ve already passed the written and physical test. I’m approaching the 6 week mark of the background process. Haven’t received a letter or email saying I failed. The next police academy is 9 weeks away

    • @armogantraining7164
      @armogantraining7164  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I understand why that may be concerning to you. With the academy getting close it could be one of two option most likely. They are running behind and will be scrambling to get the rest of you process done. Be prepared to schedule quickly if this happens. Or the second option is you may not have been selected and they have not notified you yet. If you unsure about the second, given the short deadline, I think it's fair to reach out and ask about where you are in the process.

    I am planning on becoming a police officer. My record is squeaky clean. I am a shy, soft spoken, and nice lady. But for some reason how will the police ask my family questions about me when my family hates me. My aunt hates me. I left my jacket at her house and she threw it in the trashcan, my aunt's husband hates me, my cousins hates me, my cousins kids hates me, my oldest sister hates me, my oldest sister kids hates me. How can I become a cop if they say no they're not talking to the police? My cousin was talking to me last month but when I asked her what kind of person you will say I am? She said shy, very soft spoken, and I could tell you have a good heart, but I don't like you. And I was like what? So I asked her if the police ask you what kind of cop I will be would you tell them she said no because I don't like you. My mom, dad, sister, and friends will day I'm soft spoken and nice, but that about it because no one else in my family don't want to do it.

    Were you live and the past places that you have lived impact on your resume. This is the police force you are applying for not a job flipping burgers. For instance the police force are extremely strict on certain criteria. Your family for instance has to be squeaky clean. If you grew up in the hood and your Dad has a criminal record and your Mom had run ins with the law and your brother is into crime and your sister is running with drug dealers you can forget a career in law enforcement. You might say well I am not like that and I don’t want to be like my family well that’s all very good but your family and their history impacts greatly on your chances of becoming a police officer. I know it’s harsh but only a select few qualify. You basically have to have good law abiding family. So many people don’t get excepted. Also the choices you made in the past, any brushes with the law will be reviewed. You also need to complete high school, have good grades, be consistent in attending school, if you were a trouble maker at school and a rebel, starting fights in the playground and bullying other kids you probably aren’t going to be excepted. You need to attend college after you graduate from high school now. I think you have to attend college for a year. The jobs you apply for to earn a living can have a huge impact on you being excepted as well. For instance taking a part time job as a bar tender or working in casinos and bars with slot machines, the managers that you work with and their back ground all have an impact on your chances of becoming a police officer. It’s basically about certificates and diplomas now. They are trying to keep the force as clean as they can now due to the bad apples that slipped through years ago. Police officers are constantly put under the radar now and even the places they go to on days off and who they associate with when off duty all come under the chiefs attention if you mess up. They don’t muck around now they only want the very best people being excepted into the force now. Clean your act up when it comes to dating young women too because who you are having a relationship with is also questionable. Police officers have to be careful where they live also for their own protection and their family’s protection, it doesn’t look good if you are renting an apartment in a down town area that is known for crime or if your apartment complex is a known place where drug dealers, alcoholics and prostitution is going on there. It’s all about location. Basically you have to be an outstanding law abiding citizen to be excepted into both the academy and the force.

    • @armogantraining7164
      @armogantraining7164  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      While I appreciate the comment this is not completely accurate. Every aspect of your life is looked at but the individual is the one evaluated. Squeaky clean is not what we look for, rather someone who has both experience and can think well under pressure. College in not a mandatory for all departments, most do not require it and many are removing it as a requirement. Family is important but if you have a family member who's character is questionable that does not necessary affect you. Lot go into an evaluation and each candidate is looked at independently.

      Because it’s a waste of time, I need to focus on the academy not social media. Also, not having personal information online is smart and safe when you’re a cop. Growing up my father made sure not even our house number was not listed anywhere in any public phone book as he was a narcotics and homicide detective in the NYPD and put away some serious people. And it stayed that way for 20 years. I’m 35, there was no social media back then, but that would have definitely been a no go as well.
