Thanks for the video! I’ve been loving my Odin 2. I got the Pro version in Black because the Base was out of stock for so long. It’s so much fun and feels so good in the hands. I’m mostly playing PS2, GameCube, and Wii. I’m also loving streaming from my Xbox and PS5. I haven’t tried playing Switch games on it yet but that will be my next project.
I’ve had the Odin 2 in an open tab for like a week and think I’ll pull the trigger. Glad to see a review of the base model and to hear it still rocks. Torn between it and waiting for the new gen chip but it’ll be probably be a while before backers get a Pocket S, at a premium, with dubious ergonomics. I could play so many games on an Odin in that time.
@@zachgrimshawget it if you have the cash and want to play ps2, GC, Wii. I went cheap and got the rg556. It’s ok but there’s slow down on some GC games. Wish I had just shelled out the extra cash.
Good video! Can't wait to get mine shipped once CNY is over. I'll have to disagree with the steam deck ergonomics though. I find it the most comfortable out of my handhelds. Battery life improved on the OLED, getting almost 3 hours on AAA 60 fps games
Its a beast you can run upscale 3x PS2/Gamecube/Wii, 4x PSP, and everything lower easily. No need to ever change any settings or game specific settings, it just works full speed. Emulation Station is now available and there is also Daijisho. This device is so much fun and is a powerhouse for emulation, android games, streaming, and videos.

i've been wanting the Odin 2 since before it came out. I just got the ROG Ally. One of the main reasons i wanted one was for emulation. The benefit to the ROG Ally was it was at Best Buy. But feel like I spent too much for what I want. I love the power of the ROG. What is emulation like with the higher up stuff like Switch, Gamecube, Dreamcast? how are the FPS? Thanks for any info.
Dreamcast 60 fps GameCube 60fps switch 60fps is supposed be solid on every game that is fully playable etc on base model if use 4gb vram swap and on the pro and and max will just run it mate 💯 hope that helps you brother 🏆💚👊
I imagine this will only get better and better. It's so strong that it's only limited by software support. This thing could probably handle Wii U, and maybe even 360. It could definitely handle high end Switch, it just needs more development.

hi jacob I have a question regarding the model and in terms of price what do you recommend the standard pro or max version and regarding the ram what changes performance levels
When it comes to performance, nothing really separates the three models sure that Max has 16 GB the pro has 12 but the base models eight gigs is more than enough for all emulation tasks. You might get an extra anywhere from one to five FPS with the pro and max model, but it’s so far from being the problem that in the grand scheme of overall performance for all emulation it’s not gonna help you that much unless a specific color is exclusive to the higher and models that you want I recommend going to the base because it is 300 bucks the higher up you go the less of a good value. a fully maxed ayn Odin 2 max has you spending more than a steam deck on this device
I've got an Odin Lite which I'd say I'm about 90% happy with. I'm tempted to save some money for awhile and upgrade for better 3DS performance though. The Lite plays some games like DKC Returns, A Link Between Worlds and Ocarina Of Time 3D well enough, but struggles with some games like Super Mario 3D Land.

@@keepitshort4208 modded switch lite while super cool, just a pain in the butt to set up a Retroid pocket for pro is a decent choice but a little small personally I would do the Odin two mini that feels like a good size but I don’t really mess with using those devices for window simulation so you can play those old-school low and PC games so if you want to do that, I would say just get the steam deck. It will cover everything with tinkering, which from what you said you’re interested in the Oden two mini and the steam deck base model are very similar in price so I would choose between those two.

dolphin allows for two different ways to play multiplayer and allows you to either emulate local multiplayer or you can use an emulated Wi-Fi based connection so you can do like net play together. I’ve never done that one,
cant decide between this and steamdeck... I mainly want a good emulation handheld that will run gamecube and ps2 nicely, but I wouldn't mind my steam games on the go

And I own several devices including this one so I know the difference. Not complaining that it shouldn’t cost this much cause this device is very much worth every cent you pay 😅
That is true. I have some problems with its location too. Playing Mario for a long session or fighting game like Street Fighter can be pretty annoying for dpad is not working well from that location. However, you can order an Odin 2 grip online and help with that. Or do what I did and order the RP4 Pro to play dpad orientated games. RP4 is very pocketable too. If that matters to you.
