And PS Phil is example A of what happens if you don't sing healthily, unfortunately. His voice is basically rocks now. He sacrificed it to give the world Pantera.
Vulgar Display of Power is one of the top 10 Heavy Metal releases EVER. Live? There has never been a band before or since that has come close to capturing the power this band had live.
Also, Phil sounds like he eats nails, now. He went heavier with vocals as time passed. The band just got heavier and heavier with each album. The guitarist (Dimebag Darrell), was shot and killed on stage playing with another band (Damageplan), and his brother (the drummer Vinnie Paul, who was also in Damageplan); died of a heart attack in 2018. Check out Mouth For War, Shedding Skin, Floods, and Goddamn Electric by Pantera. It shows the progress in each album until their end.
Totally agree, up to Far Beyond Driven he still worked that higher register, and by the time of Grwat Southern Trendkill, he was just growling. He admitted himself he couldn't do Cemetary Gates or even the majority of Cowboys From Hell after a while. Heroin, booze and trying to it those high notes clealy took their toll. Shame, because in my opinion, there were very few better than Phil on his good days man
Lengendary, Iconic band of the '90s. Sadly, no longer together. Both the guitarist and drummer (brothers) are no longer with us. Miyako was highly inspired by the guitarist. She has the same model guitar. Enjoyed the reaction.
I am so glad you finally reacted to some Pantera and this is definitely one of their iconic songs. This was an important band for me, and still is, in the 90s. I got the opportunity to see them live a couple of times in the 90s and both were some of my most memorable concert experiences. I even carry a battle scar from one of those shows to this day, lol. The first time was in 1991 at the Fox in December with Skid Row. Only got 9 songs from Pantera as they were the opening act but they ended their set with Cemetery Gates and Cowboys from Hell. The second time, Pantera was the headliner with guests Sepultura and Prong at Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta... hotter than freaking blue blazes. Everyone was a nasty, sweaty mess, but we didn't care. For a live show/song, I'd recommend Pantera - Cowboys From Hell (Live, Moscow '91), Pantera - This Love (live Donington 1994), or Pantera - I'm Broken [Live in West Palm Beach, CA]. Dimebag was just a unique guitarist and musician, and the lineup with him, Phil, Rex, and Vinnie was something very special. R.I.P. Dime and Vinnie \m/ \m/
Phil didn't record too much of his impressive high end, unfortunately. He had crazy range and power. Maybe check out Message in Blood and Shattered (the demo version has some insane high notes). You should hear Phil speak. His voice is so low. For live stuff, check out The Art of Shredding at Foundations Forum, This Love 1996, Yesterday Don't Mean Shit at Ozzfest 2000. There is tons of awesome live footage, but it was mostly recorded on people's handheld cameras so the sound and video quality sucks. Pantera were trendsetters for metal. This song was written in 1989 and released in '90, not the early 2000s, but that's easy to assume since their influence is all over everything from the moment they hit the scene. Pantera split and Dimebag, the guitarist, was murdered, so Pantera is no more. We've also since lost the drummer Vinnie, who was Dimes brother. If you want to hear Phil now, he has a lot of bands. En Minor has a cello and keyboards and plays Gothic rock, I guess I would call it. My favorite tune is Knock Me Cold. They did a killer set at The Orpheum which was livestreamed during Covid. Down is a southern rock/sludge metal band. They also recently livestreamed a concert for their first albums' anniversary.
Vicky ALWAYS spits Phil knowledge. I love the fact that this album has Phil sounding like Rob Halford but then a few albums later we have songs like Slaughtered - so yeah, Phil is arguably one of the best known frontmen in ALL of metal. From these days to Down to Scour to Philip H. Anselmo and the illegals - this guy does it all. Also, extra nugget - he owns his own record label - Housecore Records - I got my "eyes" shirt 🤘
Pantera is my favorite of all time. Cemetery Gates is maybe one of the best songs ever recorded. But! The Art of Shredding is amazing. Hollow and Planet Caravan as well. So much good stuff.
Cemetery Gates is probably my favorite Pantera song. I used to blast Pantera while driving my 1967 black Camaro in my teens. I thought I was so cool. However, I stumbled across this reaction so I subscribed and liked.❤️
It's unbelievable that you don't know. PANTERA. Wow the best heavy metal band from the 90's. Phil ANSELMO THE LEAD SINGER. rip to the guitar and drummer. They were brothers. The best Song from pantera.🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Halloo Anastasia..maybe you will also be interested in rock metal bands from Indonesia..'Voice Of Baceprot/VOB' with their original song( lGood allow me please to play music) & 'Burgerkill' with their original song( Killchestra- an Elegy).Greetings from Baladceprots & Alipers! Let's rocks!!!😄😎😉👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍
If you want more of Phil's high's, if you can get your hands on Pantera's first album with Phil, called Power Metal, shows their hair band roots, with a vision of their future domination
Do "Broken" and "Five Minutes Alone". Half the band has passed away. Only Phil and Rex remain. Dime Bag was shot on stage in Ohio and his brother Vinnie had a heart attack or something a year or so ago. But Pantera is still one of the best. Also "Cowboys from Hell", "Walk", and "Domination"(especially the concert in Moscow in '91)
This was rarely ever played live. I saw them 5 or six times and they never played it If you want to hear him sing like this you have to go for anything from the Cowboys From Hell album, it only gets heavier from there
You should check out anything from the album "vulgar display of power" walk is a awesome song. So is Hollow on the same album. Pantera was the greatest metal group of the 90s period.
Nice song choice but album track has two more minutes than official video . That missed time is simply the best way to get the perfect feelings with Pantera
More Pantera?? The sleep, five minutes alone, living through me, revolution is my name, regular people, the underground in America, yesterday don't mean shit live at ozzfest, walk, cowboys from hell...you're welcome 😄
Find, Pantera Hellbound btw the video is from 1991 there is also a Tales From The Crypt Demon Knights version...Panters is no longer around Dimebag Darrel was shot on stage Vinnie Paul died from heart attack
There's a few songs based on what you wanna hear but Phil performances are more extreme than highs but his range it's amazing!! You should def react to jinjer she will blow you away in my personal experience I think she is the best female vocalist at the moment..in the likes of nighwish arch enemy etc..please check them out
Wish I could see Pantera live again. But unfortunately the guitar player Dimebag Darrell was killed on stage. And his brother the drummer Vinny Paul died in 2018. But Pantera literally saved metal in the 90s when grunge was trying to take over.
The guitarist, dimebag Darell was killed on stage and the drummer Vinny passed away due to natural causes. The vocalist does things on the side nowadays with other bands like features. This song was made in 1990
Pantera was formed in Texas in the early 80's by brothers Dimebag Darrell (guitar) & Vinnie Paul (drums)... Rex Brown (bass) and Terry Glaze (vocals) were the original band... they started as a glam metal band and recorded 3 albums before they decided to fire Glaze and embraced a heavier sound w/ Philip Anselmo (vocals). Around 1989, they decided to ditch the glam look and embraced a more extreme metal sound and a casual metal image before they were finally signed by a major label in 1990. This album 'Cowboys from hell' (1990) was their 5th album, but first major release... they combined Metallica & Slayer's thrash metal sound w/ the grooves of Van Halen and Kiss... the next album 'Vulgar display of power' (1992) was even heavier, and sold platinum in the US... Dimebag Darrell was recognized as 1 of the greatest metal guitarists 🤘🤘 'Far beyond driven' (1994) hit #1 on the US charts and was the the most extreme metal album to do so... Unfortunately, Philip Anselmo began suffering from back problems, and turned to prescription pills... booze... then heroin, to cope w/ the pain. His addiction made his behavior erratic on stage. After the album 'The great southern trendkill' (1996) was released, Anselmo survived an OD that year on tour. Pantera kept touring into 1999, and then released 'Reinventing the steel' (2000) which would be their final album. Pantera's 2001 tour was cut short by the 9/11 attacks, and that was the end of the band. Footage of Pantera playing Russia (opening for AC/DC and Metallica in 1991) is available. By 2003, both Philip Anselmo & Rex Brown were working on various projects, while Pantera was on hiatus... after years of waiting, Dimebag & Vinnie finally decided to form a new band Damageplan and released a debut album 'New found power' (2004) w/ vocalist Pat Lachman and bassist Bobzilla... Tragically, at a Damageplan show in Ohio in late '04, a deranged gunman broke into the club and shot & killed Dimebag Darrell (and 3 others before police killed him). Vinnie Paul held a grudge against Anselmo for years after losing his brother... In 2007, Vinnie Paul joined the band Hellyeah! and recorded & toured until his death in 2018. Phil Anselmo had been recording and touring w/ a few projects... Rex Brown released a solo album recently. Pantera songs u can check out - 'Psycho holiday' ... 'Mouth for war' ... 'This love' ... "I'm broken" ... 'Floods' ... 'Becoming' ... 'Cowboys from hell' ... 'Domination'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Better not to say anything. I can't understand how a singer (rock singer) didn't knows a band like Pantera. I mean, next reaction is going to be about Queen? Bah...
Well, Phil Anelmo himself has said he couldn't do that high pitched stuff nowadays. It wrecked his voice going from that high pitched cemtary gates stuff, to the more growly far beyond driven stuff or great southern trendkill. So yea he killed his voice, but we who loved Pantera back then were blessed to have his voice as long as we did
"I wonder how someone could sing like is and not cause damage. I also wonder if they're still together" Well, the greatest guitarist of all time was murdered and the lead singer has cochlear implants and his voice is a shadow of it once was 30 years ago. You have to give it all if you want to sing like the greats.
Everyone always reacts to the music video of this song which cuts out the opening part. It gets annoying. It's a big part of the song. By cutting it out they don't get the same appreciation for it.
the best live song i can think of is domination live from Moscow. but he lost his high range voice tho. he ended up with a raspy deeper voice that actually worked with the band style
you say you want to hear what he sounds like now, most people will say terrible because he was for a long time, singing like this destroyed his voice but he actually did a few live shows since 2020 where he sounded really good, and i do mean really good, i guess hes finally learning to use his new voice same goes for the original vocalist of queensryche interestingly, maybe they are getting some sort of modern surgery to fix their voices lol
'Cemetery gates' was from Pantera's 1990 album 'Cowboys from hell' ... this video was heavily edited - it had an acoustic intro. Unfortunately, Pantera ended in 2001, and any chance of a reunion ended when Dimebag Darell (guitar) of Pantera was killed in 2004 by a deranged gunman in Ohio. His brother Vinnie Paul (drums) of Pantera passed away in 2018 from heart failure. Watch Philip Anselmo (vocals) perform Pantera's "I'm broken" recently: th-cam.com/video/uHN2zFLLNd4/w-d-xo.html
This is early 90's. The guitarist Dimebag Darrell was shot in the face live on stage in 2004. His brother vinny Paul happened to be the drummer and seen the entire incident unfold. Dimebags riffs and phils vocals have always been legendary but Pantera fell completely apart when that happened. Pantera isn't Pantera without dime.
Phil Anselmo begun to lose his voice by overextending and drugs, he still sings and while he retains strength, he's a shadow of himself. The vocals aren't GREAT, in Domination in Rusia, but they do their job and are pretty good at that point in time, though the song has no cleans. It's funny, because he also uses the parts he doesn't sing for the people to sing in Rusia where nobody knew their songs. And you'll be blown away by the guitar solo, and watch Rex, the bassist, trying to encourage the fans between verses and you'll also see Vinnie Paul, the drummer, demolish every preconception Rusia had in music. And the breakdown is the mother of all breakdowns.
Asamusician you would think she would avoid the shortened version of the song. If you look up the song it’s very clear that the other versions are almost 2 minutes longer. How can you be a metal musician and not know Pantera? I don’t even see how it’s possible.
what i dont get if your a rock singer and this is the first time you have heard of them or this song as the band and the song is a rock metal icon like smoke on the water i guess you have never heard that song either wow that all i can say.
His high register didn't last too long - like this anyways. His voice is so metal, but not this kinda stuff anymore. A better representation of the sound he usually makes check out I'm Broken OMV or something from Down - Eyes of the South live th-cam.com/video/IJjL4sT9J_0/w-d-xo.html Phil is an amazing "face of metal" and has been for 3 decades.
Domination live in Moscow
R.I.P. Dime & Big Vin.
This song was recorded in the early 90s. Domination live from Mascow is the absolute best Pantera live video there is.
Moscow
Wrong, they used to put out their own VHS tapes from their tours. Best Pantera Videos, hands down... They even made dumbass advertisements in them.
@@LibertySpam holy shit its the satanic falcon
Wish we could still hear them live today ☹️
You have to listen to the full version. This is the video version and cuts off almost two minutes of the intro. An entire verse is missing as well.
"I want to hear what they sound like now, if they are still together..." *crys*
It's sad this video has the intro cut out. It's such a big part of the song. Most reactors miss it.
And PS Phil is example A of what happens if you don't sing healthily, unfortunately. His voice is basically rocks now. He sacrificed it to give the world Pantera.
Proof 101 is one of the best live albums ever recorded
Vulgar Display of Power is one of the top 10 Heavy Metal releases EVER.

I just saw them last September on tour with Metallica.

The official music video cuts about a minute of the beginning of the song.
Pantera live Ozzfest 2000
“The Art of Shredding” Live 1990 is a great live rendition of an amazing song. Peace from Big Island Hawaii 🤙🏼
Cemetery Gates is probably my favorite Pantera song. I used to blast Pantera while driving my 1967 black Camaro in my teens. I thought I was so cool.

I saw Phil in Western NC about couple years ago he's still rippin the tunes out. Also no offense you need to study up on Metal more. 🤘🦆🏴☠️
Phil Anselmo's speaking voice registers 8 .0 on the Richter Scale!
Anselmo's regular talking voice sounds like if Testosterone and cigarettes had a kid.
Domination live Moscow 1991 next time!
Watch the live in Russia. They do a few songs and the whole thing is amazing
Cowboys from hell shows how deep Phil's voice can get which is crazy.
Watch some interviews of Tati from Jinjer. Best voice in the game with no formal vocal training.
When she said "Cemetary of gates", that hurt ngl
Wish I could see Pantera live again. But unfortunately the guitar player Dimebag Darrell was killed on stage. And his brother the drummer Vinny Paul died in 2018. But Pantera literally saved metal in the 90s when grunge was trying to take over.
Never gonna see dime or vinnie unfortunately, but rex and Phil and zakk wylde are doing a tour!!!!!!
You wait till you hear jinjer you’ll be blown away!! Unless you already done a reaction to her????
Yes Domination Moscow 91
rex is under rated bass player
RIP DIMEBAG AND VINNIE
The guitarist, dimebag Darell was killed on stage and the drummer Vinny passed away due to natural causes. The vocalist does things on the side nowadays with other bands like features. This song was made in 1990
Geoff from Queensryche is a better vocalist than Phil, but am a huge fan of both bands!!! Listen to Queensryche!!!

Since the topic is vocals I would say Medicine Man next
Better not to say anything. I can't understand how a singer (rock singer) didn't knows a band like Pantera. I mean, next reaction is going to be about Queen? Bah...
This song from the cfh album actually is the only one whit this type of vocals the later ones are very very heavy
its early 90s.
Well, Phil Anelmo himself has said he couldn't do that high pitched stuff nowadays. It wrecked his voice going from that high pitched cemtary gates stuff, to the more growly far beyond driven stuff or great southern trendkill. Domination live Moscow 91
U missed the intro the first two minutes weren't played in the music video.
This is not early 2000’s. It released in 1990.
Топчик))) но все равно - даёшь Saphath - Outcast of Eden 😆
P.S. - помада кайф
Everyone always reacts to the music video of this song which cuts out the opening part. It gets annoying. It's a big part of the song. By cutting it out they don't get the same appreciation for it.
The intro is missing .
"I don't know the band because I only listen to rock and metal."
Bwaaaaaaa
the best live song i can think of is domination live from Moscow. but he lost his high range voice tho. he ended up with a raspy deeper voice that actually worked with the band style
If you loved the format of the song i suggest Avatar- Bloody Angel live, great vocal range and song format that goes soft to heavy
I'm obsessed with Avatar!!!
Well...if you are you defenetly need to check out CHAOSEUM.......My Wonderland !!!!
you say you want to hear what he sounds like now, most people will say terrible because he was for a long time, singing like this destroyed his voice
but he actually did a few live shows since 2020 where he sounded really good, and i do mean really good, i guess hes finally learning to use his new voice
same goes for the original vocalist of queensryche interestingly, maybe they are getting some sort of modern surgery to fix their voices lol
He did destroy his voice. What a warrior, sacrificed it for our enjoyment!
I'm from Fort Worth, I actually helped them set up once at Joe's garage in 1988. I was a kid then
Did this lady just call Pantera a vh1 before school special?!??!?!
They played them on MTV.
'Cemetery gates' was from Pantera's 1990 album 'Cowboys from hell' ... this video was heavily edited - it had an acoustic intro.

You did the wrong version. The record version has elan entire guitar into and verse that makes the entire song.
This is early 90's. The guitarist Dimebag Darrell was shot in the face live on stage in 2004. His brother vinny Paul happened to be the drummer and seen the entire incident unfold. stop the cap. Pantera is well known metal bands all over the world.

You said it sounds like 90s or 2000s. How do you know? I don't believe you haven't heard this song before
what i dont get if your a rock singer and this is the first time you have heard of them or this song as the band and the song is a rock metal icon like smoke on the water i guess you have never heard that song either wow that all i can say.
