    Pantera is an awesome band out of Arlington Texas here in the US 🇺🇸 The guitar player Dimebag Darrell and the drummer Vinnie are brothers. Dimebag was shot on stage by a fan in 2004 his brother Vinnie died in 2018. Guitar World magazine readers voted the song's solo the 35th-greatest of all time. R.I.P. Dimebag & Vinnie!

    Dimebag was one of the greatest metal guitarists who ever lived. Not as technical as many others, but his rhythm, his ear for melody, and the passion and creativity in his playing make him the best in many people's minds. He is extremely influential. This band changed metal forever.

    I love seeing younger people discover Pantera for the first time. Especially people from other countries like Russia. Her face when she seen Dimebag Darrell's solo was so cute. I'd love to see her check out This Love by Pantera. Or anything from the vulgar display of power album. Rest in peace Dimebag Darrell.

    One of the best bands ever, just a collection of 4 amazing talents. Also Phil’s voice is a lot more metal and brutal in majority of their material, guy had one of the most badass metal voices, this is tame for him but it is some fantastic singing. One of the best bands ever in general. You should watch their live performance of Domination in Moscow, it’s absolutely legendary.

      Black Sabbath invented metal. Metallica invented thrash metal. Pantera invented groove metal. Sub genres of metal that Black Sabbath invented.

    • @igipop14
      @igipop14 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brownwestmoreland1077 That's debatable. Black Sabbath was a proto-metal band. Kind of like a bridge between rock and metal. Same goes with bands such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and of course Motorhead. Pure metal truly started with Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. There may have been smaller bands before them for a brief period of time but those two shot the genre to the stars.

    • @brownwestmoreland1077
      @brownwestmoreland1077 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@igipop14 yeah but by the time those groups hit mainstream, Black Sabbath had already pioneered the metal sound. Groups like Deep purple were just beginning to do what Black Sabbath had already done. There's no denying that Pantera invented the sub gene of metal called groove metal. Nobody had heard of groove metal or was even calling it groove metal until Pantera invented it. Plus Black Sabbath was doom metal, Deep purple was more of a hard rock band. And Led Zeppelin was more like Van Halen, cock rock.

    Pantera was a band that fit many genres during the run of the band. Hair metal, thrash, melodic metal, etc. Very genre fluid. The thing to remember is that in the 90's they were one of only a few bands with a heavy sound getting air time. So they were a bastion of hope that rock wasn't dead.

That riff, Dime's guitar solo, Phil and Dime matching triples at the end. Also when dealing with loss,, how the mellow parts capture the sorrow and grief you feel while the heavy parts capture the anger and rage. A masterpiece, the music, vocals and lyrics.

    For the guitar “getting high notes” at the end…check out some music theory about ‘guitar harmonics’, ‘pinch harmonics’, how ‘high output’ pickups work as well as Digitech Whammy pedals. They are “pitch-shifting” pedals that let you raise or lower or harmonize or etc the pitch.
    Pretty cool stuff. Dime was a genius. RIP.

    I was so glad to see this on my youtube feed. Pantera is my favourite band ever and nothing can change that. I mean Pantera was the whole package when you think about it, drums, bass, guitar and vocals all worked so well. It's hard to categorize Pantera but the term I heard was groove metal, kinda like thrash metal like metallica but with more groove. I love it that you reacted to this song, i love it!

    I’m sure they fit a variety of genres when it comes to metal. Pantera is an icon and has influenced so many bands in this decade and maybe more beforehand and probably more to come. I would classify them as more groove metal but putting them in 1 category is a disservice to Pantera.
    I just find their bass lines and riffs are so damn groovy, they make wanna move, dance, jump around and mosh!!!

    Everyone always talks about dime's solo, and it is amazing, but I always how vinnie attacks the drums immediately after dime's solo.

    I'm very happy to see you checking out my first metal love, my best friend introduced me to them in 1994 and they will always be one of my favorites. Phil has such an incredible voice, Dimebag Darrell is one of the greatest guitarists of all time ( RIP), Rex is an incredible bassist and Vinnie is arguably the most influential drummer ever ( RIP). This is such a beautiful, powerful and iconic song. Hope you check out more of there music. Loved your reaction alot bisscute.🤘😃💙

    Awesome you did this one Bisscute! 👍🤘🎸 It was a good one to recommend with showcasing Phil’s vocal range besides the badassery of Dime on guitar, Vinnie on drums and Rex on bass. R.I.P. Dime and Vinnie. 🙏 Believe it or not hun, Dime their guitarist was murdered on stage while performing in concert with him and Vinnies other band Damage Plan. Vinnie would pass some years later due to issues with his heart. I feel he was forever heart broken after witnessing his brother be killed on stage. Rock legends most definitely. Thank you for doing this one gorgeous. 🙏🎸🤘

    The official video cuts out the intro that has Rex Brown (bassist) playing acoustic and Darrell playing lead guitar and some of Phil Anselmo's best vocal work on any song. It doesn't really drop you right into the main riff on the album version of the song. MTV figured incorrectly that no one would want to sit through a solo at the beginning of a song. Darrell (Dimebag) was known for making guitars do that high pitched scream, to the extreme that he could make it sound like someone crying. The song is about a suicide pact that only one of the people follow through with and the clips in the video with the priest are of someone taking their pain and frustration out on the priest because they have lost someone they love and the priest is unsympathetic as it's blasphemous in many religions to commit suicide.

    While it wasn't called this at the time, Pantera created the Groove Metal genre. Pantera was to metal what Nirvana was to alt rock. The blew up and completely changed the way things were done. You can still hear Pantera's influences in new metal bands. It's been so long now that I see a lot of young guitarist's saying "What's so great about Dime? He's not that technically impressive of a guitar player." What they can't realize, as they weren't born yet, was that no one was doing what Dime was doing at the time. He was completely new and innovative. Very rarely in the short history of rock/metal music does someone come along that completely rethinks the instrument. Most just fall in line and follow suit. Those innovators will spawn millions of clones.
    Those clones and regular fan guitarists have since built upon the foundation Dime created, and that's the way it should be. Learn what you can from them and then make it your own. You can't take an original guitarist from 30 years ago and compare him to guitarist today that have had 30 years worth of refining and expanding upon his original ideas to absorb.
