- It is a metropolis rising from the Atlantic Ocean. The Eko Atlantic city project is the ambitious plan to build a vibrant 21st century city that will stretch over 7 kilometers and will be built on over 9 square kilometers of land reclaimed from the ocean. This huge reclamation project kicked off in 2008 when the developer, South Energyx, began reclaiming land from the ocean that had gradually disappeared over the years as a result of coastal erosion.
Job well done, Lagos state is up to great thing and I believe this is just the beginning of greater achievement. May the strenght and wisdom of God abide with the leaders and project executors and his peace and love rest in your homes. Only with your eyes shall you witness the punishment of your haters and detractors. God bless you all and those who appreciate your relentless efforts.
He deserve an award and also Governor Fashola, my message to you is please seek for presidential election, I believe everyone of us in abroad will come home to vote for you and that grantee.May God protect you.

4.] This area in question is already populated mostly by the rich and affluent;
5.] These crops of high class individuals are also in the best position to foot the huge bills and high cost of living associated with living in the area. Remember that living in the Island is a cultural thing...a class thing now endorsed by the culture;

2.] With this in mind, over-inflated governments contracts designed to implement this project will be signed by the inner core members of the government for personal gains;
3.] Note that the government intends to provide as many infrastructural facilities in this area as possible-(facilities such as good roads, water supply, constant electricity, etc). This will then increase the cost of living in the area considerably-[including the cost of land, rent, property, etc.];

The answer to your question regarding why the government seems to be most interested in recovering land within Lagos Island when there is still large expanse of land within Lagos mainland and its environs is hinged within the points below:
1.] The prime directive/policy of the Nigerian government is to increase its ability to exploit the resources of the environment for personal aggrandisement;

I am just looking for answers. Now, the money has to come from somewhere right? So where does this state and federal capital come from exactly?

This is a private funded city. Businesses want to make money, and this is good for them. Eko Atlantic City will bring a lot of businesses to Nigeria. Yes, the government should focus on the other parts of the city that is undeveloped.

Too close to water may not be a good strategic position. It's easy for the ennemies to Attack. No big country apital city is located on coast except in Africa.

7.] If some other area in the mainland that has less financial gains-(e.g. Bariga or Agege) is embarked on, THE RICH may not be willing to patronise them since they have no high class socio-cultural status appended to these areas . When I say the rich, I mean the rich of the rich-(such as ambassadors, diplomats, governors, senators, foreigners etc.).
