T5.1 Caravelle Transporter 13 pin electrics and towbar fitting DIY

T5.1 Caravelle Towbar and 13 pin electrics All fitted by myself.
I have previously fitted a towbar on my old car so I already had a torque wrench
Towbar was a brink one supplied by euro car parts
And 13 pin electrics where from pfjones on eBay as slightly cheaper than their site
That’s all that was needed really
Hope this helps people as I couldn’t find a video anywhere to help with installation

Fair play doing all that on your own, big job! It’s persuaded me to get someone to fit mine for me 😅

I’ve managed to do the canbus wire another way, instead of using the “awkward” gromit (actually called it a lot worse) i used the grommet hole above the osf top mount. It comes out behind the dash and gives a bit more length on the cable.

Thanks for the vid. Been a great help to me as I'm in the middle of installing mine today and tommorow. Did you have to get this coded with diagnostics and where did you run the reverse wire (possibly missed that part. Apologies if so). My kit (wiring) is from right connection. Its identical to yours except when you wire up the blue socket under passengers seat. Mine went mental when I did that. Option 2 was what worked for my van. 👍 Thanks again

Why not trying to link directly to back lights instead rather than taking the cable or the way to the front?

I did get someone to code but for some reason my sensors still go off so dont know if done 😂

Is it only in reverse with a trailer hitched they complain ?

Its reverse sensors and also i think the braking system to change something when towing a heavy amount
