  • " Step-by-Step Guide: Replacing Your Caravan's 13 Pin Towing Electrics Plug"
Greetings and welcome back to Caravan Escapades. In this vlog we go through how to change the 13-pin plug used to connect y9our towing electrics to your car. I have to be honest. This wasn’t the best Vlog I have ever done, I recorded this over 6 Months ago and I have been in 2 minds whether to put it out there or not. There are a few Mistakes in there and the camera angles are not great. Only issue is you don’t replace the 13 Pin Plug very often, So what I will do is record a better one next time I get the opportunity. Please feel free to move on to the next vlog.

Although 'standard' wiring colour diagrams are published, the manufacturers don't adhere to them. So if you need to change your plug, take photos of the connection and be sure you know which wire goes to which connector before you disassemble the old plug.

Good advise, although I have to say up top now, I haven't come across one that doesn't adhere, However well worth taking that Photo before you dismantle so you have something to refer back to. Thanks for watching and commenting, Happy Camping James

This summer I had to do it, I accidentally broke it by unhooking without releasing the cable 😅

We drove home yesterday and accidentally left the harness trailing along the ground 🤦🏻‍♂️ Disconnected the caravan battery Positive, then managed to cut and connect back up using insulation tape, then connected the battery again and had a few small sparks. Everything is working connected to the Car apart from the ATC, any help would be good? Where is the ATC fuse?

Hello The ATC fuse should be located with the other fuses in the main fuse box, I would also check your pins in the plug to make sure they are all ok. Also there should be an electrical connector under the caravan for the ATC system see if that is connected ok. I believe the electrical feed for the ATC comes from Pin 9 on the 13 pin connector. I hope that all helps
