The 'Real' Status Quo will always be best remembered for the solid driving bass of Alan Lancaster. It was great to see the original four back together on the reunion tours of 2013 and 2014. Without Alan (and John) they were never the same.
Pity that it seemed to escape Francis Rossi’s attention that musically, this is (was - RIP Rick) the best lineup of the band. I know that they made a far better living in latter years, after the departure of Nuff and Spud, with the other guys and that’s fair enough. I suppose they couldn’t keep playing the same hard/heavy boogie blues rock for 50 years. They had to diversify and progress into what became known as “Quo Lite”. But again, this is certainly the best incarnation of the band.
I was the biggest Quo fan of all time, but Quo Lite was a housewife group. Such a shame but hey, Rossi and Parfitt went where the money was I guess. Shame because the music was too diluted for hardcore fans.
@@pauljones9061 Rhino doesn't have a bad voice; he just has a terrible voice _for Quo_ where a cleaner sound is wanted (tho Roadhouse is a bad example). He and Bown actually have good voices for certain specific types of hard rock, like the kinds they play in their own bands.
Francis Rossi is a heartless and mega annoying bloke. Never shed a tear when Rick parfitt died. Rick suffered a lot carrying this stubborn weird Rossi throughout his career. I believe this is what eventually took a toll on Rick
The nearest thing in a group with a 25% split that you will ever see. 3 different lead vocals, songs written and co-written by 3 of the group (mainly) and all driven along by great shuffle drums
Yes it is the real Quo. I saw them in Wolverhampton during the reunion. Not great playing from Lancaster and Coghlan admittedly but a Great sound. Miss 'em!

Quo have always been a "pop" band - POPular - that's what it stands for...the difference is that in the 70's - Rock music was the POPular music of the time. Quo have always done "light" music (the awful Joanne for a start) .
Francis definitely didn’t like this reunion you can tell, he just couldn’t bully rick as Rick was a joint frontman. Francis said he was seen as number 1 by the others...but I don’t think so

Alan Lancaster passed 21st September 2021 in Sydney Australia. RIP. It is clear he wasn’t in the best of health when this was recorded, but he gave it his best shot.

This is quo , not that other stuff whatever it is, saw employed on the final tour at Manchester, went with my bro ( orrible Umberto) aka Brian Robert sheldon, master musician , mimic, comedian, thespian now sadly of late, he went not long after Parfitt r.i.p. boys. I miss Umberto bitterly and have to keep forcing the idea of not seeing him again into my brain on frequent occasions , but the concert was superb and not even the guy on the door filching my half full bottle of cane trader could put a damper on the night, thanks for all the top listening which commenced when I was 13 and carries on to this day. RIP lovely Alan! The voice at 2:42 gives me goosebumps, the sound made by these four sounded incredible. No one can reproduce this magic again.

Despite Rossi and his ideas, Lancaster helped define Quo. Everything great was defined by that line up.

Alan Does dispute this, he says he had an allergic reaction to hair dye and also something to do with tensing up.

Peter Coles I have also seen this in interviews apparently when he gets stressed his muscles all tense up and lead him to look really poorly.
