5 Minute Maternity Workout - Second trimester, no equipment needed!

    Alternating reverse lunges (:45) - Tip: Keep front knee behind toe
    Sanding Side Crunches (right) (:30)

    Push-ups on knees (:45)
    I'm a busy, full-time working mom expecting my second. I made this quick workout to add to your daily walk or to do alone when you feel like there's too much going on to fit in a workout. Everyone has five extra minutes.
    Remember, if your heart rate gets too high or you're having a tough time with a move, modify to make it easier. You can always press PAUSE, get some water and continue.

    As a beginner I thought this was perfect. Exactly what I was looking for! I’m in my 2nd trimester with no bump yet so that made it a lot easier

    Don’t do these exercises while pregnant unless you were conditioned to doing them prior to pregnancy and listen to your body. Stop when fuzzy, headache, something doesn’t feel right or with discomforts more than slight elevation to heart rate. Always clear exercise with your OB and don’t do higher intensity or new things you didn’t do prior to pregnancy either. Squats safe and helpful!! Listen to your balance and body on everything- not every pregnancy is the same. Hydrate extra well and eat before and after exercise to maintain blood sugar. Just helpful tips from a pregnant woman myself and personal trainer learning to navigate my body VERY differently than my normal. So tune in and ask OB!

    Currently 5 months and this workout was perfect. Loveeeeee the format of the video (stop watch, next exercise name, and exercise selections). Easy to follow and do. I did opt out of the push up and did more squats. If I was near a wall I would do the wall push ups. But other than that it was great! Thank soul much! Much gratitude. 🙌🏽🌞💛

    I want to tell you ladies to not be discouraged and hang in there. I was in the Marines and am super fit but right now while I am pregnant this five minute workout it wearing me out like I never was in shape in my life! Keep at it ladies it seems carrying a child is more work then carrying war gear and working out lol!

    love this! Thank you to those people who stated this was hard... I was surprised at how hard this ended up being for me(couldn't do all the push-ups), makes me feel good to know I'm not alone! Could you put like a "Ding" or something between each timed section? That would help so I'm not staring at the screen. Thanks for this!

    I use to exercise and i was in really great shape till i got pregnant. I stopped exercising because I didnt know what types of exercises were safe for pregnancy and *just* yoga wasnt helping. I gained alot of weight in a short period of time(approximately 5-6 months). Thank you for uploading this video it gives me a little bit of guidance what to do.

    Hey! I’m 26 weeks and was getting sick of doing just cardio and found this video! I worked out all the time before becoming pregnant but when I found out I was expecting I stuck to only cardio unsure of what to do! Thank you so much for this video!

    I'm a Fitness Trainer, you should avoid push ups in pregnancy. The corect way is push ups against the wall

      These are only knee push ups... If you are concerned about diastasis recti, make sure to activate the transverse abdominal muscles while doing the exercise. In the third trimestar you want to do wall/chair push ups.

    I did this workout throughout my pregnancy and kept in really good shape. In fact, after I gave birth I weighed less than before I got pregnant...
    Do you have such a non-maternity workout? Would love to see something similar that I can keep doing!

    Seriously glad as I been so so weak and sick finally at 8 well 6 days I feel like trying a new way of work out easy and fast as I been just doing legs 9 min day and bed the rest and ate good but gained 3lb in water weight in 2 weeks since dr so it scare me :( I ate nothing bad no fried food and ate only to keep nausea down as I was most l that preg with my second and it is scarying me on the water bloat I can see belly sticking out so want try these and help my mental and body

    Skip out on the push ups, I’m in third trimester and I’m afraid of my arms getting weak and falling on my stomach😞

    The posture for regular squats seem imperfect. You should keep your back straight while sitting down.

      Feet are way too far apart and toes shouldn't be turned out.

    Got tired at 3 minutes. Couldn’t do the donkey kicks since I’m just a beginner, my legs were already sore after all those squats lol but going to keep on trying this for my little pumpkin 🤰🏻

    I just did this while folding laundry for a little boredom distraction. I couldn't feel my legs after the first 5 mins 😂😂😂 I think this is a little too harsh for me. I'm only at 22 weeks btw

    I've been working out for yearsss but I'm surprised they Don't give you any kind of time to really adjust to a New movement or take a breath... Especially in your Second trimester. I'm 26wks & I had to hit pause, briefly... Just to catch a mere two or three breaths!

      I'm so glad it is helpful and that you're listening to your body! If you want an alternate, you can always do a wall push-up. Stand about 3 feet away from the wall, and do a push up that way. Easier on the arms and belly. Keep up the great work and congratulations!!

    Is there any one else that is wondering if this is proper form? I’m just ending my first trimester and have been doing squats....but I know that improper form can be more damaging than beneficial... and it doesn’t look like the form is correct on all of these? Maybe it’s because of her bump? But she seems to be bending over and forward in the second set of squats.... any answers from pregnant women or fitness experts would be greatly appreciated!

      Great question! The big rule of thumb is to make sure your knees aren't going over your toes. If I ever felt any strain on my back (started to happen when I got bigger), I would modify my squat and not go down as low.

      @@HeatherCatlin you have a butt wink when doing your squats. That will cause problems with your back. Need to turn your knees out as you go down or toes can be turned slightly.

    When doing the regular squats you have a butt wink. You need to fix that or you will get big problems with you back.
    Problem with your push up. You need to reposition your arms as they should never going straight out. Should be positioned in an arrow.

    Make sure your elbows during push ups are at a 45 degree angle away from the body (or less) otherwise you will damage your rotator cuff
