Kid N' Play (1991) | Saturday Morning Cartoon ( 2 Episodes)

- Kid 'n Play is an American hip-hop duo from New York City that was popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The duo was composed of Christopher Reid ("Kid") (born April 5, 1968) and Christopher Martin ("Play") (born July 10, 1967) working alongside their DJ, Mark "DJ Wiz" Eastmond. Besides their successful musical careers, they are also notable for branching out into acting.
Kid 'n Play even had their own NBC Saturday morning cartoon, Kid 'n Play, for one season from 1990 to 1991. On the show, Kid 'n Play were regressed to teenagers, but their recording careers remained intact, as did their comic personas. The real Kid 'n Play appeared in live-action wraparounds of the cartoons, but voice actors (again including close friend, Martin Lawrence) performed in the animated portions of the show. The show stressed positive role models, teaching kids how to get along and stay out of trouble. However, something must have gone awry in the production process, as all the audio for the show has all of the voices drowned out by the music. A 1992 Marvel Comics comic book based on the cartoon lasted nine issues. --Wkipedia

I appreciate you posting this classic. These kids don't even know about this!
I feel so young, I was born in 92 and I don't remember this cartoon at all. 😂
How we went from this to where we are today is beyond me. Saturday mornings were the absolute best, and these kinds of shows were the best part. Seeing ourselves and stories we could relate to was a joy. Such a simpler and better time.
Akin to the House Party films, Play was the less responsible member of the duo, cooking up rich quick schemes, while Kid, the more responsible member, would usually be made to clean up messes. Oftentimes the issue would be resolved by the characters’ girlfriends, or sometimes by a elderly jazz musician named “Old Blue” who wore a blue beret and plays a saxophone. The lessons ranged from serious to lighter fare. It’s like the 90s version of Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids.
Eating a bowl of King Vitamin in front of the TV .
Me to. It was a treat to have King vitamins
I remember king vitamin
Best cereal on Wic
That and cap,n crunch

Damn we had fun back then!!!!!
Funny thing about the late 80’s / early 90’s, they made cartoons out of some pretty adult movies (Kid ‘n Play, Robocop, Ghostbusters).
We loved it lots of lessons
Those weren't "pretty adult" LOL. They were always watched by kids and still had lessons...It's not like they were making them about Basic Instinct or Texas Chainsaw, that would be "pretty adult" lmao.
@@samaraisnt Robocop wasn’t pretty adult? I’m sorry I gotta call b.s. on that
Ghostbusters wasn't adult movie, it was silly and fun
The 80s & 90s birthed the best cartoons of all time. 💯💯
Awwww!! I miss the 90's.😩
makes me remember the MC Hammer cartoon...pure great memories
Yo comming from a young cat, the 80s and the 90s had the best music and entertainment
210 Reace facts, but the fashion was simple and funky fresh or super dope! The 80's rap music had no curse words either.
Fax!! It made more sense,, Now they have dumb ass cartoons and entertainment that make no sense🤦🏾♂️
@@Shortyb1977 HEavy D baby - don't forget not to curse! :)
Smooth cartoon.
Bring it back!!
Not ashamed to say that I used to watch every episode on Saturday mornings. Was it before or after the Sylvester and Tweety show? Anyway, these brothers could rap.
In most places, it aired at 10am EST, and usually Bugs Bunny and Tweety came on ABC afterwards at 11.
🤯My older brother told me kid n play had a cartoon show I didn't believe him tho🤯
U just took me way way back 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
They need 2 bring these throw back Cartoons back on Saturday and Sunday on Cartoon Network or Boomerang
Damn! My childhood is back. Y’all peep Martin Lawrence voicing the homie?
I was 16 when the Kid N Play cartoon came out and I dug it! They were the 1st hip hop act to ever have a cartoon, I watched religiously right before the New Kids on the Block cartoon came on
1991 was when X-Men and power rangers 1st came out. I was about 7. It played that Friday ON TGIF and the that Saturday morning. Best days of my life. When I pass and go to heaven I hope god put me right back in the 90s. Even if it's jus for a while.
I agree!! Die and wake up in the 90s…… This must be Heaven!!!! 😁😁✊🏾✊🏾💪🏾💪🏾💯💯
I actually remember watching this...and New Kids On the Block cartoon show.

Had no idea this existed! 90s baby here. This was randomly in my recommends! Happy I clicked. 😊

Dang this was definitely a throwback. Great uploads, keep it up.
In most renditions of the show I could find, the background music was so loud that it drowned out the dialogue.
@@MrChaotic4 really? That's interesting. I wonder why it was like that.

yes and then as soon as the Saturday morning cartoons went off you outside playing! like this was some good times
@@themagnoliaproject864 no cartoons started coming on at 3 everyday Monday through Friday just a lot of cartoons came on Saturday that started at like 7 that morning and went to at least 10-11

Saturday mornings were life!!!! Absolutely lived for them!!!!
Omg.. I remember I used to watch this.. good timez
Kid 'n Play was large 'n charge back in the days...music, videos, movies, cartoons, comic books, trading cards, tv appearances, merchandise...Saturday Morning Cartoons (6 am-12 noon) was the sure shot until some self righteous politicians decided that it was too much violence, branding and the like for kids to view.
Back in the days when I couldn’t wait for Saturday morning. Damn I remember this.
I remember a bowl of cereal and this cartoon! Peace!
I got a bowl of cereal right now watching this shit at 34 just like that old days into football season START!!! Lmao
Why isn't kid & play voicing kid & play? 🤔. These dudes sound nothing like them🤣.
The check 💰 NBC couldn't afford an appearance and the voice overs. The 30 second appearance probably cost more than they were trying to spend on either. Lol
Is it just me or did Play sound like Bill Cosby when he was eating the cereal??🤔🤔
Funny thing is that the friend is played by Martin Lawrence and it's actually his voice 🤣
Gary Coleman & Kid N' Play both had cartoon shows in the 80s and early 90s. I wish I'd been alive then...
Well issa first time fah everything i was 3 when this show was out issa my first time watchin it but i grew up in the 90s on kidd && play i nvr knew about a cartoon at all && i so love it man brings back that 90s feel good GREAT TIMES FAH ME !
