This is one of my favorite songs from when I was a kid. It makes me just as happy today when I hear it as it did when I bought the 45 in 1971. RIP eternally, Ms. Jean Knight . I thank you so much for the joy you gave us with your soulful music. You will never be forgotten ❤💫✨
Rest in peace Ms. Knight! This song was definitely her biggest hit! I still love it til this day and I always will! My prayers and sincere condolences go out to Ms. Knight's family! 😢😢😢😢😢😢🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Yess just fifteen when this song hit now fiftytwo years later thank you Ms Jean Knight for that female anthem Mr big stuff rest well with our savior 🕊️
I was still in elementary school when this song was recorded. I THINK? that "hot pants" were the fashion then as well as Afros. I remember the dances that my older relatives did back then. Family cook-outs and parties were so much fun!
Reading the comments, yes, this brings back memories! This video epitomizes The sound, the LQQK of the 70's! Many of the Black girls and women (and men) wore the Afro just like this. I was 14 in 1970 and I lived it! Thank you for the post!!
Boy! That's back in the day there. I was just a little boy then. Back when life was not as bad as it is today. God is in control, and God is Good Amen and Amen 🙏🙏👍😊🤗😁😀❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love old school, it had meaning, the artist were authentic and iconic, can't beat it, every song today is about sex and nobody understand that you can be beautiful and sexy fully dressed, but a different time, different values, different respect for self and others
AMEN TO THAT!!!! A woman DOES NOT NEED to show all her goodies with skimpy clothes, she can dress modestly and STILL drive a man to like her and wanna get her attention.
When I was in high school, i TRIED to get this girl's attention (her name was Larizza) she was ONE year older than me, but when you're in high school? ONE YEAR makes a HUGE difference, and she was very sweet, and would playfully sing this to me "Who do you think you are? mister Big Stuff" she wasn't being mean or "putting me in my place", she would simply do it to sort of "put things in perspective" because well, she was just too much woman for me, and she simply saw me as a little brother type. My feeble attempts at flirting with her, might have seemed "cute" (but harmless) because she knew I wasn't trying to disrespect her, I just wanted to get her attention and HOPED that AT LEAST she would be my first kiss (but she wasn't) . So whenever I hear this song, i think of her.
RIP Jean Knight (January 26, 1943 - November 22, 2023), aged 80

Early 70s, she was a great example of a strong woman!
