Dont sink/waste BP points into thatch, go straight for wood. You can survive the first couple of storms until lvl 5 without it. Use caves or just live through the storms.
You Will NEED Thatch later tho! I use it in almost every cave so you can reach the higher up metal nodes etc & Thatch is the best for that as i can just make it when u get to the cave by quickly picking some bushes, a LOT easier & less dangerous than picking bushes AND chopping a couple of trees to make wood. Plus some caves need a LOT of floors due to having deep water. BUT if you said just at the start of the game to avoid Thatch & got straight to learning wood then that's true, not sure if u just meant only at the start or not :)
@@VirusOfCyrus I have no idea idea if things have changed since you posted this (they may have made wood structures cheaper to make) but 100% don't bother with thatch even for caving. Just be prepared and take some wood with you, or harvest some outside, literally takes no more time to harvest enough wood than it does harvesting sticks, as a matter of fact I'd even say it's easier to harvest wood than sticks. Plus you can just make a few wood floors and pick them up as you go, recycling what you've already built.
Tip I wish I knew in my first couple of hours: You can right-click and repair your broken/damaged tools. Seems obvious now, but I was throwing them away in my early levels.
point is that you shouldnt be able to get it anyway since you are wearing a space suit. air you breathe is either by processing oxy rocks or bottles, so how do you get ill then?
recently found yet another bug. building underwater. yes build everything underwater. you can also set fire underwater and cook food this game is best game of the year.
speaking of skinning, as soon as you get into the animation, you can swap to another item. The item you swap to will lose durability instead of the knife (and if you're feeling extra savage, you can swap to an empty slot and lose no durability on anything). This is extremely helpful in case you want to preserve your knife for some reason.
I know this a 2 year old video. But there are a few things to mention. When you get to using steel tools, I keep my iron pick axe after making the steel one...because the steel pick can harvest the higher tier ore. So I use the iron pick on all the lower level stuff to not wear out my steel pick as fast when I finally get to the higher tier ores. Or you could just bring a basic anvil workstation with one steel bars to repair while you're out. Then with fighting bears, as long as you get to a river with deep enough water to make you swim...you're faster then bears in water, so can swim backwards and just stab it in the face for easy crits that kill it very fast.
The bear tip is 100% a game changer. I used to die to bears all the time because you simply can't outrun them and I thought my only recourse was to face tank the bear and hope I could do enough damage. "Bull fighting" them makes them trivial and I now actively hunt bears because they're such good sources of xp and resources.

Yeah, I would like to see many more talent points. Especially as a solo player. Respec is a necessity too but personally I don't have any regrets with what I chose, just that I want more points..
3:50 you don't learn all the blueprint points by 99, out of all the current available blueprints, you end up with about 6 you can't learn since not enough points, so skip the thatch blueprints
btw, the tip about dodging bears, does it also work on polar bears? got no issue with normal bears as i kill em before they reach me 2-4 headshots simple as that.
This is 100% correct. Sadly at the time of making this video though that was not a option. You can even see in the video there is no L slot on the left of the hot bar.
I still laugh at the fact you can breathe underwater because air-tight oxygen suit, but you get pneumonia if you stay in a cave too long, and the projectiles cave worms launch at you cause poison clouds, which apparently, when breathed in, poison you.
The bear strategy does NOT always work on polar bears for some reason, sometimes they’ll run past you, other times they’ll turn on a dime. learned the hard way
something i noticed against polar bears its a bit different, instead of going towards it and to the side or just sidestepping you have to run diagonal forwards towards it, its pretty similar but that crucial change makes a huge difference fighting polar bears
My tip...avoid map as long as you can. Enjoy the being lost..and exploration as long as you can. Its a novelty that dont last near long enough imho. Other that that one this is a good list for those that need to know
Worm spawns in caves are endless for me. One cave had 4 to 7 in it based on the map you linked. Think I have killed about 25 in that cave so far, possibly more. They just keep coming back.
Player tracker Module is useful in missions where it is specifically mentioned that you won't be able to see the map or other players. Typically it's only true for some hardcore missions.
Instead of killing your friend, just get them to exit to character screen. Then they won't lose their HP/hunger/thirst/oxygen from being revived.| You can share a spawn point on 1 bed with 8 players, you only need seperate beds for sleeping.
i was like, when i wear a spacesiute is my oxigen as long as not bein under water. then i tested it. yes you can stay like ages under water. i never died of lack of oxygen or water or food jet.
I just learned a trick...if u "DIE"...unconscious & can't be ressed, solo, extra hard mode...just start the mission all over again by going to the NEW block...u have to buy all ur stuff again, but at least u don't have to start from Ground Zero with NUTHING, right? Just make sure you have some CURRENCY to buy all that stuff again!
At the beginning of the game, my FPS is above 70, but after a few days and progressing in the game and building the house, etc., the FPS gradually drops below 20. Does the same thing happen to you?
you have added and deleted so many things fomo the map whjich it needs to keep track of. Especially all those voxels in mines... now inv item details to account for.
You won't get enough Blueprint points to unlock everything, at level 99 you will still have 38 items you cannot unlock, 32 if you use talent points to buy the 2x 3 BP point bonus in Solo tree. There are also 12-13 things currently in "coming soon" status so you will want to keep some for those Blueprints if you want to get those when they release them.
In a way. Craftable portable beacons, but unfortunately they are late tier blueprints to learn and craft. Plunk em down and you can set a custom marker.

Got festering wounds had to walk/run around and try to level with 3/4 of my stamina gone and a -5 experience debuff. 10/10 would fight a polar bear again. I love Icarus so far, I'm glad i finally picked up! Oh, and not to mention thinking oh if I die, festering wounds/deep cut will be gone. The game said nah not so fast that crap will stick with you thru death."
I love the theory behind player progression in this game- so they made the game as tedious and boring as possible. as you level up it just makes it less tedious.
#7 debunked - The player tracker module lets you put a marker on the map which then appears on your compass. This is extremely useful for navigating without having to constantly bring up your map
This can be done without the module, not sure if this has been a thing or was a recent update but just double clicking on the map will place the marker.
May have been the case when you posted this but not now. I've been killed a few times by bears, not only after getting into the water but after trying to dive down under.
It's full release, though there are still some mechanics that feel unfinished, and they've been patching to optimize graphics every couple days since release... pretty much par for the course these days. Fewer game-breaking bugs than a lot of AAA tiles are releasing with.
No more talent points??? Do you know how many talents there are and you get max like 60 or something. Instead of ending talents points at lvl 40 they should end at like 60,65 or 70
Southeast corner of C3 is the nicely lit one he doesn't have a cave de buff in. The last cave he entered in the last second of the video is in the desert, if it is the one I'm thinking of. It has two entrances, one middle of D10 and the other southeast of E11 (biggest cave I've been in).
I've played "the long dark" for a long time to know bears wouldn't simply charge at you like that.. ffs dont fight a bear like you do on icarus 😂 This game is similar to the long dark, that's what got me interested in the first place.
If you can´t find the Cave, thats on the map. sometimes the entrance is under water. i even found one where i had to mine the stone at the entrance in a lake.
Tip 11: There is an insane amount of running around in that game... inviest your talents in one Weapon skill, bow or knife and the rest of em divert to talents that increase run speed or stamina ! Tip 12: Play with friends and let everybody specc in a different Tool weapon , with enough points spend everyone is able to craft a master version of that tool/weapon ,wich provides additional stats! Tip13: When u reach Blueprint T4 always check the caves you are passing, for Gold and take it with u until you can use it ! Tip14: Build a kitchen for better buff food ! Tip15: Always use the highest Tier of tool, to farm the things u need Tip16: Dont waste talent points into Spear or Firearms ... Tip17: At the end of a mission , always take the tools/items u buyed from the workshop with you , they will be repaired in next Misson Tip18: Stone building is the cheapest and most robust of the low tier buildings ,and wood is the easyest to cary around (ignore thatch) Tip19:Try to set up your camp close to ,or inbetween misson markers. differ only for areas with high metal deposits Tip20: Let the one with highest skill do the work , and always refine or use all the materials u gather !

i stoped playing this game, even i love it to the sky. And i stoped to play, because i vas lvl 47, and one day i loged in and find out that my charackter was left behind (dont know why and how) and only i can delete it, can not use it at all. All this 10+ days, 12+ hours play a day lost? F U ICARUS! :D
due to the holidays the devs decided to bring the characters back which you lost(found that out today also and lost a character a few days ago)...you might want to check if urs is back maybe you can pick it up again.

What an aesthetically uninspired game. From the videos i've watched the most alien thing you fight is a damn cave worm? Not to mention i'm supposed to suspend my disbelief that i'm a space faring astronaut that has to use cave man tools for some reason? What a damn stupid concept. It's clear they had no idea what they wanted this game to be and went for the safest thing they could do.
things I wish I knew before buying it - 1.) all of the missions are generally the same, 2) that they would decentralize and delete my data after I uninstalled 3.) The dude needs to eat drink and smoke oxite every 2 minutes 4.) that to build a gun you need to farm for about 100 hours, and the gun lasts 20 shots. 5.) the building system doesn't work, there isn't a piece for every scenario 6.) the electrical system is flawed, no batteries, no parallel circuits, not all devices can power all equipment. 7.) bears sometimes just spawn in at random ( watch your back, even though you just looked, look again. 8.) That a storm happens every 3 minutes forcing you into a rock 9.) That the devs would listen to the silent minority and the biggest update would be you can ride an ostrich. 10.) that to do very simple things you need to build 100 workbenches and also need those benches to repair your tools, so don't go too far from home......even though you already mined alll the useful resources within an hours run... 11.) that it's simply not worth buying, for a premium priced game that uses your pc as a data host because the devs are too cheap to operate like a real company. 12.) that the dlc for the worst game ever made costs as much as most full games, and gives you more of the same repetitve garbage you've already been doing....yay

TIP: Put your shadows on low. You can see in caves without a light source
2nd tip, jumping on mount in cave glitches and makes cave same lighting as outside. So during day it's daytime in the cave and you can see everything

please swap your torch and bow @4:30 you can keep your torch lit and still use all other items without having to drop your torch

#9 cave worms - Easiest to kill with a knife. Just run up to their hole which you can see before thy come out and hit them twice in the head.

If you have a nvida graphics card you can nvida control panel to increase gamma. You can do it with other graphic cards, idk how tho

They have updated the Level cap to 99 now so you can keep getting blueprint points
only blue print points are gained passed level 40

Using a third party map = wasting your money. The whole point is to discover the map for yourself. Using a map just makes you a tourist.
i stoped playing this game, even i love it to the sky. And i stoped to play, because i vas lvl 47, and one day i loged in and find out that my charackter was left behind (dont know why and how) and only i can delete it, can not use it at all. All this 10+ days, 12+ hours play a day lost? F U ICARUS! :D
due to the holidays the devs decided to bring the characters back which you lost(found that out today also and lost a character a few days ago)...you might want to check if urs is back maybe you can pick it up again.

Its made for solo play and with friends... but unfortunatly its imposible to play solo! Its gives you penalty because you respawn, not waited that there invisible MR no one playing with you will never reviews you, you get your charackter lost int hard mode as you play solo... FCUK ICARUS once again! Dont let it be played solo if its imposible to do missions solo! whoever created this game are bigest rtrds in whole univers i tell you! Im not mad, im just saying fackts! there is non single game as this one rtrded! tbh i want my money back! Where can i get it back from this shity game?

What an aesthetically uninspired game. From the videos i've watched the most alien thing you fight is a damn cave worm? Not to mention i'm supposed to suspend my disbelief that i'm a space faring astronaut that has to use cave man tools for some reason? What a damn stupid concept. It's clear they had no idea what they wanted this game to be and went for the safest thing they could do.

1 thing i wish i knew before getting it...... its just a shit game and looks like nothing the trailer was they made this game into a shit storm
things I wish I knew before buying it - 1.) all of the missions are generally the same, 2) that they would decentralize and delete my data after I uninstalled 3.) The dude needs to eat drink and smoke oxite every 2 minutes 4.) that to build a gun you need to farm for about 100 hours, and the gun lasts 20 shots. 5.) the building system doesn't work, there isn't a piece for every scenario 6.) the electrical system is flawed, no batteries, no parallel circuits, not all devices can power all equipment. 7.) bears sometimes just spawn in at random ( watch your back, even though you just looked, look again. 8.) That a storm happens every 3 minutes forcing you into a rock 9.) That the devs would listen to the silent minority and the biggest update would be you can ride an ostrich. 10.) that to do very simple things you need to build 100 workbenches and also need those benches to repair your tools, so don't go too far from home......even though you already mined alll the useful resources within an hours run... 11.) that it's simply not worth buying, for a premium priced game that uses your pc as a data host because the devs are too cheap to operate like a real company. 12.) that the dlc for the worst game ever made costs as much as most full games, and gives you more of the same repetitve garbage you've already been doing....yay
Best tip is to not buy this steaming pile of shit.
