about the solar panel: imho the biggest pro for it is its not existing maintenance. I have not seen it being damaged by any storms up to lvl 5, while the windturbine needs to be repaired and the waterwheel needs to emptyed every now and then. Aka if you dont wanne bother, I recommend setting up some solarpanels and big battery packs. This advice comes form me, mainly playing open world, so keep that in mind.
So many things I don't agree with in this video, but this is what you feel and that is fine(I avoided Thatch since its just basically matchsticks). So this video should have been if you don't have exotics.
As long as you don't light your house on fire. Funny story, couple of friends and I had a 4x8 base 3 levels tall. All the exterior was stone but inside still wood. My buddy jumped on one night while I was far away doing a mission. He backed into a torch and set himself on fire and then proceeded to ignite the entire inside. Runs outside and watches it burn to the ground while describing it to me in discord. Lmao.
Friend and me try the game on free weekend. Bro stands around in the campfire and lights on fire. Right next to the lake, so he and his genius level decision making decide to run into the wooden house i just finished building and lights the whole thing on fire. We both bought the game as soon as the autumn sale started.
@ivanik8 lmao, that's hilarious. The game is much more fun when more than one person is playing. I haven't played in a while because my gaming friend got bored. He's playing new world and I didn't really want to play another mmo to take over my life lol
I have a sensitive to light especially flickering like and to me the wood torch is a lot better then the rag torch. It gives of the same like but the wood light flickers a lot less.
So wood and stone piles are auto-chosen for us, along with stone axe and pick You talk about not needing various things because as new charatcers you will build inside a cave. Are you serious to go into a cave where cave worms kill unsuspecting noobs (who dont have bows yet), why would we build in a cave with pneumonia as a constant companion and respawning cavewroms You say to pick Bone knife because stone knife isnt worth it, but you have to pick stone to unlock bone.. You advise to pick Thatch first and come "back later for wood", but i thought you were advising we use caves for the first few levels, you can pick Wood at level 5, which even me as a new player can get to really fast TIER 2 So by the time im level 10, i wont need a bladder because i will have my Exotic Version unlocked? Which unless im miscalculating requires a minimum of 550, assuming i play Medium mode that means repeating Live Wire 5 or 6 times, so we have to defend those scannerss from big-ass bears and alpha wolves with That and our plucky spirit? (Ok Bone knife and my level 3 character), or run Beachead multiple times for 25 - so i do this 12 times, just to unlock an oxygen cannister? Im going to stop picking at this video here, because i didnt/dont want this to be nasty But when you made this video, did you just look at the tech tree or did you make a brand new character, and without using any Workshop Items worked out just how ill-equipped one is for As anew player to this game, i find this video to be, at best, a 3/10 And if i wasnt a new player i doubt i would need this video I didnt want to be mean, but this is the most unhelpful "guide" ive seen so far, i think your out of date one was better
The wood/stone piles and beginner tools i’ll give ya, but I was saying to use the bone knife as soon as possible over the stone knife. If I had to explain that you need to pick prerequisite blueprints before others every single time, we would be here for hours. The rest is purely your opinion and I appreciate you for sharing. Good luck out there!
@GameAdvisors hes not really wrong though you make a lot of references to using workshop items but you dont get the money for those till after youve already reached tier 3 so you absolutely do need items in the blueprint tree for those
I haven't messed with electricity yet, is there a limit on how far the cable will go, or do you need to build a generate somewhat close to the extractor
There is no limit on distance for the cable. This means you can build your power source where ever you want and just run a cable how ever long you want.
@@master_macros The best method I have found to do it is just click every 1-2 seconds. Shorter spans between two connections doesn't effect the cable negatively. Regardless its definitely a lot less of a chore then farming mats for another generator right?
what are your thoughts on extra blueprint points? I have over 150 points on my main and everything is unlocked. I keep hitting level 50 over and over. Do you think you'll be able to trade blueprint points for something else in the future?
Trading them for something is one option but I like that they can and have added things where if you didn't get extra points per level you would be screwed.
Solar Panels would only be worth while if they added a power storage option so you could save up power from the day to continue powering your base at night. Otherwise I agree, it's not as useful compared to other generation types.
this has been recommended to the devs many times in their website. i think they've kept it to introduce it with the "Galileo" update so it will have more content.
really nice to see other persons point of view and confirm almost all my thoughts... icarus has been like this since its launch, a few MUST HAVE items/talents and a TON of worthless crap and even those high priority items get their ass kicked when you have enough exotics to buy workshop items sure it got much better with the open world update because finally we have some point to craft those long term tier3/4 items that were completely worthless on missions but even so there is so many items that i can't find any reason to exist...
You already have stone and wood piles by default. How do you save points by not selecting them when they are already selected? Building in a cave as a new player is a terrible idea. You get attacked by worms and have phnemonia.
I've stated in the comment already that I was wrong on the wood and stone piles sorry for that. Building in a cave is very easy as a new player. Kill worms 1 time and your good to go. To avoid pneumonia you only need to walk out of the cave 1 time every 5 minuets. Cave worms will eventually respawn but it takes ages and your mission will be complete by then. Every thing in this video is just my opinion on the best things to take and how to use them. Either way thank you for your thoughts though and sorry once again for the stone and wood piles part.
I have been playing from the since vefore the releas like you. I have to say there is so much inaccurate information in this guide. Example, wood pallets are unlocked from the beginning and nearly every item that you recommend exotic item. When you have hundreds to thousands of hours in the game you easily forget that tue exotic o2 bottle will still take you several hours to get if you are just getting the game.
Tier 1 I'm going to disagree with a few things before I stopped watching when you progressed into tier 2 those items where the hammer and wood building parts thatch may as well be paper and will be a loss in your first storm especially with no hammer wood is hard enough to keep up and since benches need shelter to function see where I'm going. I'll try and catch up with the rest of the video soon, but 38 mins is a bit much for me ATM.
It's obvious you don't need a lot of that stuff if you already have exotics. The video should show HOW to get the exotics when starting from scratch in Open World, rather than basically already beating the game in the Missions Project then playing Open World.
As someone who recently got into the game, I found this guide negatively helpful. Everything is followed by "don't bother because you'll have exotics" - how is that a guide? If you already have all exotics, you don't even need this guide because you have everything unlocked.
LMAO. "Then we've got the anvil bench, obviously going to be critically important!!!" Proceeds to go through all the tools and say they're all garbage afterwards. Nice. Very Nice. Ahahahaha
If everything is not important then why bother go into the tier 3/4 when you could just play like a caveman in tier 2? Man you can't enjoy a game huh, everything is not important because you're lazy to farm the items, this is why i don't seek guide from "advisor", they always make things not fun for the sake of speedrun. Or do you even play the game genuinely at all?
Brand new level one, never-before-played characters start with stone pile, wood pile, stone axe and pick.
He said to skip the hammer, and get thatch instead of wood....... never has he ever played the game?
Yeah I was wondering also... thatch is complete garbage
If I have enough Oxite, I stick a stack directly into oxygen slot on suit because laziness! But mostly saves an inventory slot.
This was exactly what I needed. Thank you for the guide.

yeah, really spot on for the open world players.
This guy plays the game for Speedrun LoL, everything is "expensive"

Omg if only this was recorded! Epic ! 😂😂😅

17:44 False! Stone structures DOES take damage from lightning storm wich is happening like EVERY third minutes! Frustrating as F!
When did stone pick and axe need to be unlocked, these are default recipes you know from the start. Stone structures can take damage on the Styx map.
GA, you keep saying "if you have exotic armor/tools/etc." That's cool enough. But how do I do that? Seriously.
20:00 online web Map you talking about its the one "mapgenie" ?
How can I do it to highlight an animal with arrows?
bone sickle saves pretty much time early game when u need lots of fibres for the first set of armor

There is no limit on distance for the cable. This means you can build your power source where ever you want and just run a cable how ever long you want.
However, laying cable a long distance is a bit of a chore. You have to click a segment ever three strides or so.
@@master_macros The best method I have found to do it is just click every 1-2 seconds. Shorter spans between two connections doesn't effect the cable negatively. Regardless its definitely a lot less of a chore then farming mats for another generator right?

I really enjoy how people pronounce words in their own area of the world.

wood pile and stone pile comes already unlocked right ?
yep
Yes this one was my bad and I forgot about that change.
@@GameAdvisors I love other tops though. O7

I like a tools, Weapons in tier 4

HAHA no. There in ice caves if you haven't found them yet.

Thatch is a good throw away structure to build around obstacles
It's obvious you don't need a lot of that stuff if you already have exotics. The video should show HOW to get the exotics when starting from scratch in Open World, rather than basically already beating the game in the Missions Project then playing Open World.
stone pile and wood pile are free

You dont need a guide for this..just unlock stuff as you need it. Im level 28 and i have so many extra points.
This is useless unless you are speed running/min max everything
Good game, but the missions are broken . Lol, u do one mission, then u can't do any other ones. 🤷 fix missions, lol 😆
LMAO.

Bees. Just sayin'. They didn't exist back then....
Nothing was important
I cannot recommend this tutorial
