This concept was taught to me by my master when we would train Iron Palm only with one hand. When I asked "Why not both hands ? " He told me that it takes a really long time to be able to control its power and that can cause harm. So you always want the gentle hand. Because you learn to hurt and destroy before you learn to heal. He told me that he went to pet the dog one day and didnt realize he put so much power into it. Also that he tapped his wife on the back , but didnt realize how much was going into it. That is when he realized the lesson.
This is a teaching from Sifu Jiang yu shan i have heard this first from him. As the ancient saying goes "If you are merciful to your enemies, you are cruel to yourself." It is good to know these methods and not use them if not needed
I also believe having a demon hand and buddha heart means being able to do anything thats necessary but with the right justification. For example say you're in a toxic relationship, you need to have the demon hand to cut off that person while having the buddhas heart to not seek to hurt them for what they did you.
Be willing to get your hands “dirty” on your journey…as a participant in a “physical” reality action or interaction is as valuable as observation or neutrality.
