She explained it better than my chemistry teacher.

Exactly!
same
the fact this is true is unnerving. Thank you Melissa for taking time to help us pass chemistry.
This video was very well edited and had lots of good examples and explaining! You deserve wayyyy more subscribers and views!
yes, this really helped me in my chemistry class
I used it for phy but still helped
love how she just vibin in the corner of the vid during the practice problems
RIGHT! I honestly love that.
My ADHD brain loves that part too...😂
my 4176132 mental breakdowns a day because of chemistry are no more! I can't wait to watch all your videos and hopefully pass chemistry! if I don't pass I can't get into the nursing program so I am very stressed. thank you for these videos!! I wish you were my teacher.
Haha happy to keep you sane!
@@melissamaribel 3:09 why do you round to three sig figs
@@jonahmaurer5937 because out of the two numbers that were multiplied (24.5 and 63.2751), the least sig figs were in 24.5, and there were 3 sig figs in that number. When multiplying or dividing, you round the answer to the number of sig figs that is the least out of what you multiplied/divided
i wish you the best of luck for chemistry and the nursing program!
Did you get into the nursing program?
I wish Melissa was my teacher. I've learned more in the past 15 min of watching a few of her videos than I have learned in an hour and 15 min of Chemistry class. Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work. I'm glad I found your youtube channel.
I know!! I just found her channel and I've learned so much already
She is very helpful
Finally someone who is smart and knows how to teach!! You did a wonderful job of breaking the information down for those of us taking chemistry for the first time in their life( and needing to pass it with an A)!!!!
Did you pass with an A?
Melissa, I am writing this in an honest manner from the bottom of my heart. You are truly a life saver of many others like me; my professor do not know how to teach and as soon as I saw your video, I thought it was like some other youtubers that jumps on for views but Omg, I so loved your video, you helped me a lot. This videos deserve more and more and beyond views. Thank you for everything.
OMG!! I have to review a whole semesters worth of notes for my final and I’m glad I found this vid which has all the links to the lessons I need to review. That’s awesome now I can skip reading my boring chem textbook and focus on the specific lessons I need. What’s even better you get straight to the point and explain everything clearly vs professors and textbooks. Thank you for being so helpful!
Aww you are so welcome Brenda!! Happy it's making sense and you're not bored! 😂
LOVE. The only video under 5 minutes that explained sig figs AMAZINGLY well. Thank you!
Where was this during my sophomore year when I was taking chemistry?! Oh well, its still really helpful for physics class
I am a little annoyed that a 5 minute video explained it to me better than my Teacher who took 70 minutes to explain and I still didn’t understand😂
Here's another video I did on adding and multiplying significant figures in the same problem th-cam.com/video/-djmXkaWmys/w-d-xo.html
Hey melissa just wrote my exam p2 chemistry .i just wanted to thank you and really say youre the best i aced my chemistry exams all thanks to u i love u so much i wish you also taught physical science .any suggestion of an online teacher on physics i can follow .😍😍😍😍😍 thank u for everything you really made a change in my life
It's not letting me access the video. It says it's private
WAIT WHY IS THIS PRIVATE PLS LET ME WATCH IT
Thanks for letting me know I just updated the link
we love and appreciate you melissa❤️❤️❤️
Amazing video. I was confused about this throughout my whole AP Chemistry class last year in high school. I have my first college lab tomorrow college and I needed to figure out sig-figs for sure! Thank you so much!
From sophomore year chemistry in high school to sophomore year chemistry in college! I returned to these videos and they are still so helpful!
You are so helpful it’s insane. Everything I learn in class is clarified after watching your videos, thank you!
Simple, clear, concise and pleasantly explained. Most students enter the classroom with little to no degree of expertise (IMO). Another view and subscriber earned. Bravo et Merci!
Melissa helped me get a B in Chemistry. This girl is amazing. I believe one of the greatest things about her is that she struggled at first, enabling her to become the brilliant teacher she is now. Thank you Melissa!
Thank you, thank you, thank you soooo much!! Returning to school after 20+ years and I am so grateful!! The struggle isn’t so bad now!
Thank you for this!!! I was so confused after a 2hr lecture about sig figs, you explained it so effortlessly and clear in FIVE min.. SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you, I always struggled because I didn’t pay attention, but this knowledge is absolutely vital for a physics student! This helped me now I understand
I’m taking advanced chemistry and this makes way more sense now! THANK YOU ❤️ Can you do a video on orbital diagrams please.
You are soooooooo helpful!! You definately deserve like from every person watching this video!!!!!!!
These significant always messed my numericals now melissa ma'am really explained it simply.
Doing some last-minute catching up on understanding sig figs before school tmr and I was thinking to myself, I was never gonna get it until I came across your video. Bravo! Gracias! Summed it in a less than 5 minute video compared to a full hour of notes on sig figs in my Chem 2 class
THE BEST SCIENCE TEACHER EVER, MY GRADES BOOSTED UP THANK YOU SO MUCH! :)
Really helpful!! I was just doing a chemistry lab and it mentioned sig figs and I didn't understand that at the beginning of the year, and i just watched your video. It was so helpful! Thank you!
I just learned sig figs from this video the night before my test because I missed the day we learned it. Hopefully I pass! Thank you for healping me understand this!
I took chemistry about 6 years ago in highschool, Now i am taking an online college course chem and this helped me so much!! My teacher did explain it but the way she did i was very confused with sig figs. Watching this lesson by Melissa helped to clear my confusion ! She says it in a way that my brain can understand! i took a quiz and failed it i have a test friday and now it makes so much sense. THANK YOU FOR HELPING! I hope do better : ) I will be looking at more of your chem videos as i take this hybrid chem course! Thanking God i found your videos 🙏🙏
Please continue making these videos!!! I'm in chem 1151 and your videos are helping so much!!!
Great video! I am in organic chem in college and you were able to simplify a topic in just 4 minutes where it took my instructor over 30 minutes.
Honestly, you saved my life tonight, I learned everything I needed in your video that my honors chemistry and chemistry professor tried to teach me! LOL THANK YOU.!
Rule #3 (0:44) is not always true. If there is a number like 0.0009, rule 3 says there are 4 sig figs, when actually there is only 1. She goes on to explain this BTW, but doesn't clarify rule 3. Great video!
I have a quiz tomorrow and you explained it better than my teacher ever could! Thank you!
You are so great! I am having my daughter follow your videos. I love chemistry but I would never be able to explain it as well as you do!!! THANKS!!!
Thanks you so much. I have a quiz tomorrow and I feel ready now.
Need Chemistry for the RN program. My instructor was talking in Ebonics but you have made it crystal clear. Thank you.
Melissa,
I wanted to thank you for these videos. I am a new Chemistry student and they are a really good resource. I have watched some of them over and over to make sure I have a good understanding. Thanks again!
You are so welcome Shannon!
I’m so happy to find you on TH-cam. I’m definitely subscribe to watch all your video. I just registered chemistry class hop I’m going to learn a lot from you . I’m not expecting my professor. Thank you.
NAHH SHE EXPLAINED BETTER THAN MY OWN CHEM TEACH😭😭😭😭❤❤❤❤❤❤
QUEEN ILY THANK YOU
my chemistry teacher didn't even go over how to do this, you saved me!!!
omg you're literally a lifesaver. Literally thank you so much
She really knows what she is doing, this video is very clear and understandable, helped me so much!!
This is amazing, my professor just confused me & you explained it with much clarity! Thank you!!
Wunderbar - I showed this video to my High School Chemistry Class. [California]
Wow! SO helpful! My teacher couldn’t get me to understand what is significant and what’s not, now I know!
Ms. Maribel, You're doing a great job. Your videos are a great help, as usual.
thank you for making an easy to understand and non cringe video to explain this stuff. its so helpful!!
Just subscribed, I start my 6 week chem class tomorrow so I’ll be watching your videos weekly!
Hey! your videos are great! Taking chemistry online and this is SO much better than what the school provides, love the dancing to the music as I answer the questions! / / subscribed!
Thank you so much Seco, hahah I'm so glad you like the dancing part 😂
Thank you so much for this video! I actually feel prepared for the sig fig portion of my chemistry exam!
Just a quick clarification from the video for all of you chemistry people trying to learn online: more sig figs does not lead to a more ACCURATE measurement, instead, more sig figs leads to a more PRECISE measurement. Great explanation!
Do scientific notation videos!!! Please!!
I love the way you teach. It's so easy to understand!!! I got my tonsils removed so I had to miss class and you helped me catch up so quickly! Thanks!
I learned more from this video than the less than 3 weeks with my rambling Chem professor! I keep second guessing myself with conversions..of all kinds
Oh wow! So happy to hear it's making some sense! 😊I have several videos on conversions to keep you from second-guessing yourself:

You helped me revise for a maths test and your explaining is amazing!!! I subbed 😍
Hi Melissa, your videos are very helpful! I am going back to school
Great video! Who knew significant figures could be so simple
I love your dancing during the quiz part. Thank you so much for this.
The concept is explained very much nicely. I just loved it. Now I am 100% clear about this sig fig.
Thanks for this short and nice video 👍
Great video. Thank you!!
Thank you Jon! Happy you liked it 😊
I sent it to my daughter. Wish you were around about 20 years ago.. lol
Wow!! That’s a huge compliment, thank you 😊
Jennifer Okolo said, "you deserve wayyyy more subscribers and views".......... AGREED!!! Keep them going. I admire the outtakes too. (funny)
Hi Melissa, my name is Marie Rene i always struggle with math here i am again. Now with chemistry it is worst. Please help me please by sending more videos i really enjoyed. Thank you
Late night studying for a chemistry quiz I have tomorrow. Thanks for the help! Subscribed.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your method of teaching has just stuck better with me and it is so effective it's capable of helping students taking chemistry to this very day.
i am literally in love with you thank you for consistently saving my life
thank you! needed the refresher and clarification before my ap chem exam tomorrow! this was so helpful
Thank you soooooo much for this video. My chemistry professor at SCSU is from India and can't hardly speak English, on top of that he mumble so you really can't hear anything he is saying, but I know for a fact he didn't go over the difference on how to find the sig fig of add and subtract compared to multiply and divide. Again, Thank you so very much for this. I had a test I had to complete before Wednesday and I only got 3 tries on it. The first two ended up as a 60/102 and a 66/102 but after I watched your video my final attempt was a 102/102.
That's awesome!! Congratulations on your 💯!! And yeah I've been there too many times with professors I couldn't understand a word.
idk if you will see this cause this was 2017 but im in 10th this year doing AP chem and this helps a ton thanks you are an excellent tutor thanks A BUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m so upset with the fact that my teacher taught this for days and days and no one understood and then I watched this video and understood it so damn clearly. Thank you so much 🥺
I was failing chemistry cause I was learning online half the year and it was really difficult and now I'm in person, and I had no clue what was going on, and she explained it soo much better than my chem teacher did. Her videos are helping me catch up and prepare for the regent!
I'm a teacher in KENYA 🇰🇪 AFRICA and i love this. Lemmi take my learners through ❤
i finally get it thank u!! how can a 5 minute video teach this better than my chem teacher
Why do I learn more from TH-cam than my actual class?
Thankyou so much!! Please keep doing videos. We just learned about sig figs today but my teacher went too fast. I still have some trouble with adding and subtracting sig figs but everything else is really good! I already subscribed :)
In multiplication and divison of sig figs, the least amount of sig figs in the equation is the same amount of sig figs in the result. Now in addition does that still apply but with decimal places? For example my teacher wrote: 0.02cm + 2.371cm. The one with least decimal places is 0.02 so the result 2.391 would round to what?
Please keep doing what your doing!! This video made sig figs extremely clear and it helped so much! Thanks again
this video is the only reason i didn't fail my chem test, i'm truly grateful
This was a really good video. Before coming onto your video, I didn't understand significant figures. After watching this, now I do! thank you so much!
Thank you so much! This was so confusing in my chemistry class, but after watching this, everything makes much more sense!
Thank you so much, i never knew it was this easy thanks to your help and clear teaching! Hope to see more chemistry contents!
Thank you so much.i corrected my many misconception..your questions collection are really very well.💖
Thank you for the simplicity, all the examples, and the ability to print them out!!
This was phenomenal, thanks!
Lifesaver! You explained it so much better than my teacher in such a simpler fashion!
Hello 👋 it’s my first semester at UT Arlington in Texas and I’ve been stressing for 2 weeks on this subject and somehow this was so clear in detail that my headache went away thank you you just gained a new subscriber I’ll be watching more of your videos thank you 🙏🏻 again #gomavs
On 4:03 how did yoy get from 218.5813 to 218.58 why did you remove those numbers
I was also confused 😭 but i think I got it
We ended with 218.5813 right.
So we look at our numbers again with what we added up
142.01 has 2 decimal places.
41.9903 has 4 decimal places.
34.581 has 3 decimal places.
The result should be rounded to the smallest number of decimal places among the numbers involved in the addition, which is 2 decimal places.
The digit after 58 in 218.5813 is
If this digit is 5 or more, you round up the last digit you are keeping (in this case, 8).
If the digit is less than 5, you keep the last digit as is and drop the remaining digits.
Since 1 is less than 5, you do not round up. Meaning, you keep 58 and drop the remaining digits.
Result:
218.5813 rounded to 2 decimal places is 218.58.
This comment saved my television's life.
Glad I found you. First week of chemistry and you made me understand in a few minutes what I was taught in 4 hours. Thank you
same here rn
Really mam, You explained well than others. I understand better
Bless ur soul you have saved a life
You are the only reason I’m passing chesistry. Thank you so much!
When subtracting or adding sig figs: Look for the least number of DECIMAL PLACES.
When multiplying or dividing sig figs: Look for the least number of SIG FIGS.
The best video I have ever seen about sig figs
Omg i love u lol just by this 5 minute video I think I'm understanding it a little bit better. Those zeros were killing me!!!!
This is the only reason why I'll pass my Chem test tomorrow
have my ap chem test tmr and this is literally so helpful tysm!
Thank you so much, my chem teacher is so unorganized and it is hard to learn in her class
I have a chemistry test tomorrow and my teacher does not do a great job of teaching it but you do so thank you.
The way it was explained was great she is a professional
Thank you so much, this will help me with my exam tomorrow a lot. You teach me better than teachers at school.
This was by far the best explanation of sig figs
Honestly, your videos are life-saver. 😭
I wish you were my chemistry teacher ❤️
