On my 340i I fitted the ps4s and the grip is insane. Only available on 19s though which is why on an m140i I would at least consider bigger wheels. You can always sell them separately when you sell the car. Before that I almost went with goodyears asymmetric 5 tyres but I couldn't get then on the front only for the rears. Very good tyre though and worth looking into

I’ve had Eagle 🦅 F1s on my M3 twice and now my Mustang and with the exception of the 3 hours a year we get of snow ⛄️ I highly recommended them 😉

Berts FocusST I was using my M3 as a daily commuter as well and they easily cleared 14000 miles and at least a 3rd of that was spirited driving in summer months. Admittedly there were no track days but the performance and the wear rates certainly made me consider and actually choose them over recommended tyre upgrades from the mustang community. And even one guy took my advice and chose them and they are really really happy with the price performance and look. And another plus is the design is fantastic for rim protection for when the wife uses the cars 🤫

I've changed from PSS to eagle f1 asymmetric 5 on my m135i and they seem alot more stable in the damp! Should consider as they are probably on par with the ps4 but slightly cheaper

It is good to find someone has the same opinions as me on certain tyres. I had Bridgestone S001s on the front of my car being FWD & found they tramlined a lot, & recently got a slow puncture on one of them thanks to a nail in the tread. So I put the two Bridgestones at the back after a repair & the Michelin PS4 which were on the rears moved to the front. Tramlining has reduced although the grip is not as good as the Bridgestones. The tread is still good on them after 15000 miles of driving with them so I will keep them until they wear out. If I had to go for another set of tyres it would be the Goodyear Asymmetric 5 having owned the Asymmetric 2 for a different car in the past. In the rain they were excellent but like the Michelins they have soft sidewalls which made steering not so precise so that would be my concern in getting the Asymmetric 5. I have heard good things from others about the F1 Eagle Supersports so it would be good to see how they perform on the track but also for normal road use in all conditions.

I have Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports on my Quad's summer wheels. When they go back on with the arrival of the warmer weather we will need to replace the rears after 5250 miles. Excellent tyres in the wet and dry with loads of grip and good feel.
I do have a heavy right foot though and some more torque, so your mileage may vary ( no pun intended ).

The only choice for the M-Lite should be the PS Supersport, terrible wet grip but the dry grip is phenomenal, I've done 15K and two track days on my set of Supersport's, still with 4mm remaining. In my experience, "Cheap" performance tyres have good dry grip but the wear is terrible. Very odd but check Costco tyres, always seem to have significant discounts on the PSS! also, great videos, keep it up!

I second that. I have an LSD and the MPSS. During cold and wet winter months I rarely apply more than 20% throttle from slow speeds. On dry and warm days they are sensational. I can floor it, in Sport+, from stand still or low speeds with no wheel spin.

Great to see another video Mark. Tyres. Looks like you’ve made the same mistake we all make, buying cheaper tyres thinking we are saving money. The choice of tyres your looking at going for (good years) I think you will find them great on the road. Few people I know who have them on their st, say it’s a great and feel it’s better then Michelin, for me, when the time comes I think I’ll pop PS4s on the RS unless there are better tyres when the time comes.

I recently changed the PSS on the back after about 6.5K ( no track days ), read a review of Maxxis Victras VS5 in Evo magazine and took a punt. So far so good, superb in the wet better traction than PSS and far less prone to aquaplaning. On a par in the dry. Wear - will have to wait and see, its mostly been wet. Ive made mistakes in the past with budget tyres, but these are excellent. Will try fronts ( PS4s on front ) will have a better idea of outright grip.
    Get that suspension changed !

BS RE-71R is awesome...I changed from PS4S to RE-71R. The tire wall is more hard. In corner, they can give you more stable feeling. In wet condition, PS4S is very good. But RE-71R also is acceptable with his grip.

Also, as a guide, I've done 16k miles including one full hard track day on them at Cadwell (tuned Golf R pushing out 373bhp and 395ftlb) and I've got a few mm left on them still. May even consider them on my e46 m3 when it needs new rubber.

Mark, if you’re anything like me your rears will be toast but the fronts will still have loads of life left in them. I’ve got a mapped 330d with a quaiffe lsd so have similar fun to you 😂
Anyway, I had all 4 tyres fitted new at the same time and the rears are down to the wear markers whereas the fronts are still fine. Do you just swap all 4 so they’re matching anyway which seems a waste throwing away 2 perfectly good tyres?
I cheaped out last time and got maxxis which to be fair have been alright but want to get F1’s next. Problem is, I can’t bring myself to change the perfectly good fronts. Convince me 😉

There is a lot of chatter on babybmw.net about those Eagle F1 Supersport tyres, I think you'll be very impressed.
Also worth noting that the Michelin Pilot Supersports come with two sidewall ratings, I think they are 88Y and 92Y... the 92 offer a harder sidewall so more pointy steering and less squish on cornering. I reckon you'll get through many tyres this year so thought you'd like to know 👍
    Keep up the good work!

Hi! 👋🏽 I watched your video with interest. I have an M140i too, but I don’t race it at all.
My problem is that I had the Michelin Pilot Super Sports on from new, and in the four years I’ve had the car, they have developed some cracking on the shoulders. The forums say that this is due to them getting too cold 🥶 (Between 2018 and now, we did have some snow and it was pretty cold). I was thinking of getting the Michelins again, until you mentioned the Goodyear Eagles.
Have you formed a more rounded opinion on them at all?

I never got around to trying the Eagle F1 SS on my car. Apart from a short drive of Lewis' car which had a set fitted I don't really have enough experience to form an opinion. What little time I did have driving on them they felt good though.

I test drove an M140i with high expectations and was very disappointed with just how fidgety and dangerous the car felt on a very slight damp rd. it was all over the place with Just half throttle if that ! Borderline dangerous. Now I put all blame to those Bridgestone potenza runflats. I’ll have to try driving one with the Michelin’s

    • @johnjackson12
      @johnjackson12 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@adamdar5121 I only had them on for a month because of the flat tyre I was forced to change them. The biggest thing you notice is road noise gets a lot quieter. Then smaller bumps are ironed out a lot more. Big bumps still crash a bit but I put that down to having 19" wheels. Traction is MASSIVELY improved, launch control didn't work with the potenza the rear would just wiggle all over. With the ps4s Michelin no problem at all and feels more confident in the wet as well. For me with run flats it doesn't make the car feel as premium as it should. And that was coming after owning a seat ibiza fr for 6years

Lots of tight curves,s bends, hair pin bends on daily commute of 60miles.Great even wear across the tyre.
New tyres dont come with as much tread as they used to many yrs ago.Hence shorter life for tyres generally.Added to that the appalling state of minor roads and b roads with patch repairs that are never surface level with numerous negative or positive cambers and the high grip surfaces added to roads at various roundabouts etc.

I have the goodyear eagle f1 on my e90 m3. There crap compared to ps4s. Soft side walls, not great wet grip and not much feel just snaps away.

Potenza s001 were great, conti sport 5s were crap, assymetric 3 were OK, PS4s are incredible. Khumos are great for normal cars but for a high powered car I'd have something better. My wife has the PS91 Khumos on her Q3 and they are great, but 150hp isnt to hard to handle

Get yourself a set of track wheels then you can run the track focused tyres on them and a fast road tyre as daily use?

    • @MarkCup70
      @MarkCup70  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

That's not going to happen. The last time I had additional wheels I ended up needing to buy another shed, I had 22 of them for my 172 Cup at one point 😊

@@MarkCup70 lol! Problem is they're aren't good enough daily tyres that shine on the track, I've got Michelin ps4s's on my s3 which are a great tyre but not as good as the toyo r888r or ad08r yokohamos on the track, it's always going to be a compromise between a great track tyre vs a great daily tyre.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports are amazing I have them on my 240 running around 460 bhp. They even put the power down stupidly well in the wet despite almost an extra 100 ft/ib and HP👐👐 Can't get PS4S on the 18's so these are the next best thing.

Try continentals..they are soft but the grip is enormous from the first kilometers!!and working very good on dump-wet conditions!!!
They are soft compared to Michelin tyres but no need for warming etc etc..

Unstoppable Gamer the Khumo’s are soft too, hence why they wore out so fast in Mark’s car.

Have you not tried a set of factory set of Pilot Super Sports? By the way Pilot Sport 4's are NOT Super Sports as you said in the vid. PSS in 92Y all round are only £380 the set at costco with the discount code :D

@@MarkCup70 i suppose you alreday know about Michelin Pilot Cup2? Great trackday tyre, will give you what you felt missing in your 4s tyres. Cup2 also have superior longivety. Also good for daily use, only a little slippery when wet/cold.
