I have had my Tiburon V6 for 17 years. I have had no problems at all in 17 years. The only repairs I have done is a rusted water pipe, new clutch, new radiator, 2 light bulbs and general service items and its still going strong 250 000 km later. Still has original shocks in good condition!!! Amazing reliability and value for money
@@reedy9427 Depending on how much you drive it, oil changes are gonna be the only monthly expense. Brakes every 6 months or so. Clutch also depends on your driving. Well I'm sitting on 218k miles on my 06 Tiburon SE and my clutch is just now starting to go. Only major work has been a timing belt at 160k. Slightly modified and still a daily. Got it for $5k 10 years ago with 70k miles and have been all over the country in it now the only thing I hate is the cost to replace the seats because they are starting to rip totally my fault and I love the way the factory seats feel on long drives
I'm an original owner of a 2005 Tiburon GT. Still have it 13 years and 123,000 miles later. Ark N2 exhaust, hot shot headers, and an Alpine supercharger. There's no reason to get rid of it.
Hey I'm a new tibby owner, same year gt v6 too. But I'm a little lost, to be honest I'm a 17 year old with a 2jz dream lol. But I love my Tiburon and want to start modifying it. It's a little late in it's life cycle at 120k miles on it. But it was owned by my grandpa before me so it's mainly highway and old man miles lol. I just did the timing belts, clutch, fly wheel all that jazz for around 2000$. But now I want to start modifying it. I don't want to turbo this thing or anything, it's a little late for that but. What would you recommend starting with? This question goes for anyone that views this lol

Mistic pearl green factory paint. Brembo breaks. Over 575 HP in Colorado 475 lb/ft Just letting everyone know how customizable this car is. I loved it and almost died in it. It was great.
I didn't think these motors had enough meat in the cylinder walls to bore it out to a 3.0? Was always told that it was basically already bored out to 2.7 from factory.
It had an issue where the flywheel would break down and cause the clutch to grab. You would have to pump the clutch to get it out of gear. I had the clutch & flywheel replaced with aftermarket parts and it ran great after that. I had this car as a teenager and ran it so hard the exhaust fell off. Were talking redlining it minimum ten times a day for seven years, I would go through 1-2 sets of front tires a year. I still tell people how reliable it was for me.
are most of these parts universal or they made especialy for the tib? I want to supercharge mine but I cant even find an aftermarket intake manifold and bigger throttle body for it.
That is misinformation. Porsche only helped with the suspension on the RD Hyundai Coupe. Not the Tiburon. Don't get me wrong, they still handle beautifully.
Love these, worked at a Hyundai dealership for 12 years. Owned two of them, and had a large clientele of persons wishing to mod them rAther heavily. Very reliable, withstood insane amounts of abuse. I am going to have to stand with you. Great review.
I own a Hyundai tiburon gt v6 , these are a damn good car. Super fun and reliable. Super underrated. They seem to not hold their value like they should. I get a lot of questions about mine, and People keep asking me if I want to sell it. Deffinately never parting with mine. Hidden gem for sure !
in 2019 my friend bought a 2006 GT for $100 dollars, the previous owner let all the coolant leak out and it killed the engine. He bought another one from a scrap yard that was totaled, swapped the engine, basically rebuilt the engine, made the car basically new again, and I bought it for $2000, which honestly is a great price for this coupe
I got my 2004 V6 Tiburon about three years ago. It only had 50,000 on the clock and I bought it for £900. Hand down the best used car I've ever bought.
That is exactly how I feel about my Coupe. 112k miles on the clock but drove like a new car. Pulled away nicely, quiet at idle, economical on fuel, especially on motorways, and everything in it working and new-ish looking. even on budget tyres the fuel consumption and handling are very good. Not the best I've ever driven, but not too bad at all. I will definitely be buying another one.
Best car I've owned. Bought it for $800 2 years ago. It now has over 400k miles on it still runs like it's new. Recently the transmission has finally started slipping, plugged the code reader in and literally the only code is "Transmission assembly". Damn reliable cars I must say.
I owned one. Its a damn good car. I drove it new and drove it to 230 thousand miles on 1 timing belt. If i changed it. I would still have. Surprised on its reliability and structure
I had a 2003 Tiburon GT with a5 speed and honestly, it's so underrated. The handling was un-Hyundai and the power was all there (for 175 HP, it was quick) I bought it for 6 grand and it was garage kept, so clean... I miss that car so much. Too bad some snob Iranian kid (no offense to anybody thats Iranian)ended up buying it and crashed it a few weeks later. Reliability was good as long as you took care of it. If I had one thing to say its rust. Rust is the main reason you can't get a good one for cheap. They rust so much kind of like the Celica as most were driven in winter. So in all before you buy a Tiburon: -Watch for rust -Get a GT with a stick for best quality -Get yourself a mature owned one who almost never drove it in winter, 90% of people drive them t the ground, avoid those ones if you want a car that's gonna last for more than 1 year. -Prices are decving, likely anything for 3000 and under is a shitbox with problems.
Ι'm 38 years old...married with two daughters....i bought it in 2004 and i still own it......(picture on the left),it's the 2.0 version......there is NOTHING NEGATIVE.....don't listen to shit!!!!!the car is amazing, the torque... the acceleration, the top speed (210km).....i'm very pleased with its performance and of course i'd never sell it no matter much my wife growls..........
@@tannerhartl5175hey bro.... i forgot to mention that i've made a couple of mods....ECU chipping..... exhaust system replacement......and a pipercross free air flow filter in the stock filterbox!!
I'm wondering since I'm not Iranian do I have a special advantage where I'm pretty much guaranteed to not crash a Tiburon? I can think of a few other motorized transportation devices Americans don't want to see an Iranian driving..New Yorkers especially I would think.
Got an '03 V6 GT for $1600 CAD, as my first real car when I graduated college. All it needed was a cat converter and new brakes. What an absolute blast to drive. Light, powerful, and sexy. Other than a burnt out clutch(my fault) it never did me wrong. I miss that little ripper.
I lived in the US for 3 years, and bought this car when I just arrived there. An 05 with 128k miles for 2700$. Great deal, I never had that much fun driving a car ever. Not to mention it was really good looking, crimson, slightly lowered, full leather seats. I miss this car so much I actually dreamed about it last night (and that how I ended up on your video lol). Not tbh, I had a ton of engine issues with it, and I probably had to spend 7k$ over three years fixing them. Still my best driving experience to this day.
The reliability on the delta 2.7's is actually amazing ive had 2 now one i got at around 200k which had very low maintenance and blew up but after maybe 15k without an oil change lol and my 2nd I've had since 87k miles and all i do is run seafoam through the crank case every oil change and she runs mint its at 160k now and gets railed every single day i expect the motor to last a while
I got an 07 GS trim with a 128 hp I4 engine and it's super fun to drive at [THE SPEED LIMIT] on the way to college. Most I've had to do to it as far as maintenance goes is tighten a bolt here, oil change there, and a battery change and a radio swap. The radio was $50, battery was $120, oil change was done by me and I don't remember how much the oil costs. The car itself was $6500. Great value, super reliable, and surprisingly practical.
I got an 07’ Tibby named Randal, these cars get so much criticism for so many reasons it’s finally nice to hear someone uplifting the car lol. Great vid mate
Much respect for this video!!! I hve an '06 GT and this car has been a head turner even being over 10yrs old. My paint is still clean and shines bright after a wash and wax. The engine is still strong and quiet. I hve 2 honk my horn smetimes, actually alot, becus pple walking in the way cant hear the car behind them at low rpms. My only problem is my headlights need 2be restored or replaced, but the high quality Led bulbs I hve in still gives the casing a good look. I wish there were more vids about the Tib like this on youtube.
Owned a 03 gt 6spd. The only two problems I had with it were bad gas mileage and wheel hopping when launching. Other than those, I had fun with the car without any major problems.
The only issues I have with the tiburon is it has a timing belt that is a pain to change yourself or expensive to pay someone else to do it and it is a front wheel drive car. I would suggest getting a manual transmission if you can find one. The throttle delay in an automatic is a buzzkill.
I have Tiburon 2.0 - $3000 i installed Handsfree door lock, alarm, engine fuel pump block when someone trying to stole the car, vibration sensor when someone shake the car, GSM calling when activity is happend, Bluetooth audio reciever, multimedia wifi with OBD2.0 Guages and car Diagnnostic with ELM237, Navigation, GPS tracking and many more!
@@tanicwhisper0647 Oh, it's so cheap to maintenance. The parts for my Tiburon are totally classic parts from Hyundai Elantra and some other Hyundai models around 2002 year. Also, some KIA models have the same parts. Don't worry... You can check that by simple go to the parts store and ask for random parts for Hyundai Coupe and you will see.... :-)
Ive had a 03 santa fe 2.7 v6 since 06 after many mods and many burnouts later at 277k miles she finally snapped a timing belt. Rip og betsey. she will return to the streets soon
I own 16 year old 2.0 GLS. Nothing leaks, cranks or breaks at all and the engine runs like new, looks and holds great. This car really is a gem, if you look after it.
I still have my 04 Tib GT & I Love it! Dc headers, Injen cold air intake, Ark exhaust & I put some new shoes on her! The car is fast enough for crap roads in New Jersey
Bradley Richards Fantastic! Tibs are underrated. My 04 is solid. I wish they made more aftermarket parts for them. It’s hard to find turbo & supercharger kits for them. You can pice them together but that can be a pain in the Ass. I wish you all the best with your Mods! Later Bro!
Had a 2005 SE V6. The car was driven hard every single day for 10 years....200,000 miles when I traded it. Had to put a clutch in it a 180k, a radiator shortly after, and I think a fuel pump around 150k. It was amazingly reliable. I drove mine through college and after and the only thing that wasn’t solid on this car is the clear coat on the plastic pieces. Outside of that, the interior was made well, the seats held up beautifully, the mechanical stuff was almost indestructible, it overheated a few times on the way home when the radiator tubs blew out, but was fine. Favorite car still to this day.
Had a 03 2.7 5 speed got it for 1200 as a first car. Beat the absolute hell out of it every time i got in it and it just kept coming back for more. Had the car going 240km+ many many times. Very fun cars. Was a very good car to have in highschool.
I recently bought a red 2003 Tiburon Tuscani GT and i am in love with this car!! i paid $2000 ad it had only 138000 miles and the only problem i have with it is everyone borrowing it and not wanting to give it back lol!
I am an OG owner of an SE V6, and frankly it has been a great car for the past 15 years. I always said it was under rated. Plus a couple of simple mods recently, gave have it new life.
Had mine for about 2-3 years now, got it 2nd hand for 6k @ 170k kms.. have had to do a water pump and clutch but other than that this thing is a beast and a pleasure to drive. I recommend
I've have 2. Both 2004's, automatic 4 speed and now a 6 speed manual. My first Tibby, the automatic eventually died out. I bought it in 2014 and it lasted until last year. Engine ceased. 😭😭 My son is rebuilding it for himself. In Feb. I got the manual and aside from needing maintenance that was not done by previous owner, it's a gem. I love the pick up and 'G's' when hitting the gas and rapid shifting. It goes! This car as well as the auto will be with us forever if I have a say. I'm even looking for another to buy next year for my youngest son... Or maybe myself. I absolutely LOVE TIBURONS! Next car on my to get list will be a Genesis RS someday. I like the TLC needing, no longer produced type cars. I'm sad Hyundai is not making either the Tib or Genesis any longer.

I’m the proud owner of a 04 Tiburon GT, every time I go to a auto part store and they need the vehicle specs they’re impressed with the fact it’s the 2.7l 6 speed. Where I live I see maybe 2 others every few months. Mine is black on black with a Borla cat-back. Very nice sounding car and if I down shift at the right RPMs typically around 2-2500 I’ll get some nice burbles and pops. Looking to get a 2011 Camaro SS next year but may keep the Tiburon as a winter car! Definitely a car you don’t see often.
Have had my 2003 GT for about 8 years now. Got it at ~130k miles and now I'm close to 190k. I love it to death. Only time I've ever had it in a shop was change or rotate the tires. I have done a lot of work on it myself but there's so much info out there if your willing to do the work on it it's no problem.
@@sikacreative It could be. I actually just recently sold mine. Before I sold it I ended up changing out the AC compressor and both front strut assembly's. The engine had a small oil leak as well. I say that I only had it in the shop once because I found it really easy to work on. Since it is an older car if you're comfortable working on the car I would reccomend it. I always found good resources online when I worked on mine.

I just have to say the door handles are made out of flimsy plastic that will brake and the bcm which controls the blinkers and other lighting has a faulty relay that is soldered onto the control board directly so it is difficult to replace and it goes bad often making your hazards blink constantly.
I owned a 2008, the last model made for 3 years. It was my first car and the only reason I sold it was because it was my fault for body kitting the hell out of it. I never had a single problem and I just changed the oil and brakes. Little things here and there nothing major though seriously this car really was a great first car.

Got mine for 2900$ about two years ago. Do all the work myself very easy. Never given me a problem aside from a dead battery 1 year in. Somehow the battery was never changed since the date of manufacture (2006) and lasted all the way to 2018 and never any problems before. Super reliable great daily driver, Fast, Fun and all in total great car in my opinion.

I've owned one in the past, nice to drive and go better than you'd think. They have lots of torque. It wasn't much slower than my R33 running 10 psi of boost. Once u put a Cold Air Intake on the Tib, the induction noise is super loud and does improve power. I like the look of them and they aren't that expensive
My 1995 Hyundai Accent that I bought used in '06 for $300, spray painted it black and red inside, and out and used Honda Accord parts to keep it alive to this day, after being in the middle of a four car pile up, and bouncing it of a freeway divider face first at 60+ mph, and bending the frame, which I straightened myself. Has almost 200k miles on it with over 190# psi in every cylinder, that I still run the left lane with while 1000 watts of digital sound fill my ears and my soul, backed up by bone rattling bass! Is finally starting to give me transmission issues! But for a lousy $100 I can get another one at the Pick-n-Pull and have it swapped out in mere minutes! Okay those minutes add up to hours, but you get what I'm sayin', right?! ;)
I bought one of these nine months ago, a 2008 GT for under $3grand. I had not much of an idea what I was doing, buying this car, but I thought I did good and sure enough I did. Loved your video

If you haven't heard of any problems, then you haven't been listening to owners. A lot of owners never admit their issues, but they exist and they are common. There's several DIY's for mutliple issues that needed to be addressed as Hyundai wouldn't. I've owned 2 of the 97-01 Tiburons, I will say they are FAR more reliable with no issues. But, the 2003-2006-ish were nightmares. I owned a 2005 with low miles. It had electrical issues that even I couldn't fix, and I'm an electrician and mechanic. The A/C had grounding and conductor problems that caused overheating of the wiring system. I tried all the DIY recommendations, including up-sizing several other wires. Having no A/C in Texas makes the car worthless. The sunroof worked only when it wanted to, leaving it stuck open at times. The switch needed replaced, only to fail again. Common problem. The rear hatch release almost never worked. Cleaning sometimes helps, but most of the time doesn't. Common problem. The Kenwood radio glitched all the time. Common issue. Then, do a search for timing belts snapping causing catastrophic damage. Sure, most of them are due to the owners not replacing them, but sometimes it happens prematurely. The cost and time to fix 2 heads is more than the car is worth. Hyundai under-sized the belt for the load that's put on it. In the end, mine had so many issues, I gave it away. I'm still daily driving a 99 Tiburon with the 4cyl.
I still have my 03 Tibby GT. it's older, has very few dings for it's age, but still in lovely, shiney and reliable shape. Best part is the younger 20s crowd keep asking "what is that!?" And when i tell them " 03 tiburon." It's alwas the same.." An oh three......what?...wait This this isn't a NEW car?" The ONLY car I like better than my 03, was my 98 sunroofed tibby. But this is a very very close 2nd .
I beg to differ; the timing belt was quite easy to replace with quite basic tools. The biggest problem was getting the crank bolt out, I wound up using a massive breaker bar and a flywheel locking tool, while some others would just wedge a breaker bar against the subframe and bump the starter. Past that, all you need is about $300 worth of parts in the form of a timing belt kit, MLS water pump gasket and a jug of coolant, along with a ratchet, a set of sockets, and a torque wrench. I could have the old belt off and the car back together, burped and ready to run in an afternoon. Really simple job compared to, for example, servicing the timing chains on the Nissan 350Z VQ35DE.
I have a 2004 tiburon great car 150000 miles 5 speed. It does kick butt. I had to change first clutch at 70000 miles they told me that was good . No belts were changed till 140000 miles that was luck because they were ready thank you

@@robertaccornero7172 I bought a Tiburon and the clutch went out a week later..I googled it and they had a double flywheel issue that Hyundai never made a recall cause it would recall every car.. maybe if you googled it and read some people's stories you would be more informed on the issue before you try and tell me I can't drive a stick..my last 10 cars were stick and I never had a single clutch issue and I owe a Harley Davidson night train and several dirt bikes ...it's not me asshole it's the double flywheel

No Name did you tune it? And did you tune it on stock ECU?
Damn - have a vin I could follow? Might wanna pick up that car when the owner is ready to sell.
You forgot that the suspension was designed with Porsche ;)
That is misinformation. Porsche only helped with the suspension on the RD Hyundai Coupe. Not the Tiburon. Don't get me wrong, they still handle beautifully.
Love these, worked at a Hyundai dealership for 12 years. Owned two of them, and had a large clientele of persons wishing to mod them rAther heavily. Very reliable, withstood insane amounts of abuse. I am going to have to stand with you. Great review.
Just got a Hyundai tiburon 06 gt v6 and I got to say I’m loving it more and more everyday. They said this car is like a gem and it really is 🔥
I own a Hyundai tiburon gt v6 , these are a damn good car.
Very true but you are taxed into poverty for owning a 2.7l in the UK today.
Woah 900 euros thats like 1300-1500 dollars in American money
That is exactly how I feel about my Coupe. 112k miles on the clock but drove like a new car. Pulled away nicely, quiet at idle, economical on fuel, especially on motorways, and everything in it working and new-ish looking. even on budget tyres the fuel consumption and handling are very good. Not the best I've ever driven, but not too bad at all.
I will definitely be buying another one.
Do you wanna sell this
Best car I've owned.
This car is great. The stock standard exhausts sound amazing and it drives like a beast
bought mine for 900 sitting in a backed up drain puddle rusting. 2 grand later and its got wheels, lowered, and a whole new sound system inside
i bought one with some rust any tips for getting rid of it
Hes right I have almost 200k on mine.. daily driver love it. Had the timming belt done and its feels like new
how much that run you?
I still have my 97 tib i bought new when I was 19 and it still runs fine and never did any major repairs
different car this is the GK hes talking about.not that little 4cyl
@@Tommyblueeyes I realize that, I am just stating that my car lasted all these years without problems
Lol those old tiburons are ugly as fuck
So in all before you buy a Tiburon:
-Watch for rust
-Get a GT with a stick for best quality
-Get yourself a mature owned one who almost never drove it in winter, 90% of people drive them t the ground, avoid those ones if you want a car that's gonna last for more than 1 year.
-Prices are decving, likely anything for 3000 and under is a shitbox with problems.

Have mine since 2006 bought it brand new , Has never given me a problem
Got an '03 V6 GT for $1600 CAD, as my first real car when I graduated college. All it needed was a cat converter and new brakes. What an absolute blast to drive. Light, powerful, and sexy. Other than a burnt out clutch(my fault) it never did me wrong. I miss that little ripper.
This car in NFS:U sounds like it's saying, "Hellooooooooo." At least it did in my childhood.
LMFAO
man i played this car in nfsu2 it has great handling Lol
Fastest car in nfsu
I got a 2007 gt for $4700 and it only had 68,000 miles on it. I love it. It’s super reliable and fun to drive.
How is the car now? Did it last past 100,000 miles?
Great vid mate
dani perez I just bought an 07 tibby last week. Haven’t taken to naming her yet. But so far I love it. 6 speed manual with a smooth clutch. 😍
I have a 2003 Tiburon Gt I put Lambo doors on... I absolutely love this car, paid 4500 back in 2013 for it.
BlackZero Rs Is maintenance easy for the car and are the after market (including factory) parts affordable as well as common, to replace?
@@tanicwhisper0647 Oh, it's so cheap to maintenance. The parts for my Tiburon are totally classic parts from Hyundai Elantra and some other Hyundai models around 2002 year. Also, some KIA models have the same parts. Don't worry... You can check that by simple go to the parts store and ask for random parts for Hyundai Coupe and you will see.... :-)
I had an 04 GT…I miss that car so much…she hugged those turns like nothing else…
Had a 2003 GT a few years back, favorite car...until a few days ago when I got the 2008 SE. Hands down my favorite ride of all time lmao
Ive had a 03 santa fe 2.7 v6 since 06 after many mods and many burnouts later at 277k miles she finally snapped a timing belt. Rip og betsey. she will return to the streets soon
Just got a 2008 tiburon SE and I love it. 6 speed with only 124k miles
Dude I have the same exact car! The SE v6 6-speed. Haha nice do you also have the red and black interior? And how has it been so far after 9 months?
I have 128k miles on mine
I own 16 year old 2.0 GLS. Nothing leaks, cranks or breaks at all and the engine runs like new, looks and holds great. This car really is a gem, if you look after it.
I still have my 04 Tib GT & I Love it! Dc headers, Injen cold air intake, Ark exhaust & I put some new shoes on her! The car is fast enough for crap roads in New Jersey
i have an 06, and i also live in jersey, plan on doing something similar.
A tad late, but i picked up my gt two weeks ago for an absolute steal! It’s an excellent car all around.
Had a 03 2.7 5 speed got it for 1200 as a first car. Beat the absolute hell out of it every time i got in it and it just kept coming back for more. Had the car going 240km+ many many times. Very fun cars. Was a very good car to have in highschool.
My Tib was a 2006 Limited Edition GT and I had mine up to 155 MPH.
I can get an 04 gt spec
Ed. For $1000. It's got sum dings, but is it worth it?
I have 1993 Hyundai S-Coupe, and i had two 1996 and 2002 Hyundai Tiburon. I love them
I recently bought a red 2003 Tiburon Tuscani GT and i am in love with this car!! i paid $2000 ad it had only 138000 miles and the only problem i have with it is everyone borrowing it and not wanting to give it back lol!
My brother owns a 2002 Coupé with a 2.0 liter engine, a V4. Looks no special, has no special engine but the performance is literally mind-blowing
I4 not V4
Nobody cross shops a tiburon with a wrx sorry to say good car but really dude it’s direct competitor is the same gen eclipse
Agreed eclipse and Celica are the 2 immediate competitors that come to mind for the tib
Also the 99-02 Cougar as well very similar to this car in performance except its lighter and has a 5 speed instead of 6.
The comparison was regarding interior, not the hp
And the eclipse has 100 more horsepower.
False🤣 I’m currently looking at both

I have done a lot of work on it myself but there's so much info out there if your willing to do the work on it it's no problem.
hey man, what kinda shape is this car in now? I'm currently thinking about buying one around 140k miles, u think it would be a safe buy?
@@sikacreative It could be. I actually just recently sold mine. Before I sold it I ended up changing out the AC compressor and both front strut assembly's. The engine had a small oil leak as well.
Was looking to buy an 07… thanks for this transparency.
@@grdsga They got progressively better as the years went on. By 2007, I believe they had most of the electrical problems fixed.

I have one negative thing to day; it has a rubber timing belt that is a pain to replace and when it breaks it bends valves.
I'm so glad this is my current first car

The only problem the engine has is its an interference engine just change the timing belt every 60k miles and these engine can run over 250k miles no problem with regular maintenance
Weak in power, but not weak as in will break down. It isn't fast but the UK is covered in cameras or gridlocked, so speed is unnecessary
I've got one of these it's a 2005 2.0l 16v 143bhp gls all leather. I got alot of extras on mine as just as they face-lifted. 58 thousand full history £1500 in 2016. I got all the service manuals and service myself had no problems with this car not missed a beat in 4 years I owned a vw polo and that was exactly the same. I love my coupe and I still have my vw polo still drive it perfect order and that's a w reg 2000 so 20 years old. Look after them and they will look after you. I looked at the audi tt 225 and Toyota celica also Ford focus but settled on the coupe glad I did
10k tf just get the gensis. 10k around here I can buy 6 of these things 😂
Lmao fr
I had this car for a while and I don't have too many nice things to say about it. Maintaining costs was pretty expensive because it had some issues all the time and when I finally thought that it was ready to be driven without constantly repairing something, engine blew up. Had to change the whole motor. After that I bought Volkswagen and wouldn't go back.
Before you buy: early 2000s Lexus IS300
GS and IS 300 aka Toyota Altezza 😍
Get a G35 instead
Got a steal. 2005 for 2k, 60,000 original miles, just needs new struts.
