The amount of bookending and resolution in this scene. Spares the man who first coerced him into killing for no reason. Convinces an asset to think about the work critically, as he never could himself, and prevents him killing without reason, by echoing the words of Owen's character, an asset he killed. Is shot and falls into water, but this time survives with his memories and vitality intact, this time free rather than hunted, vindicated and cleared rather than falsely criminalised. It's just a solid 6 minutes of catharsis and closure.
Unlike Marie, Nikki would know how to hide from anybody. If she was no longer a part of the program when this ending occurred someone could be in the same town as her and as soon as she gets wind of them she's gone. Remember she tore up her phone when Desh was looking for her just after killing Daniels in Morocco earlier in this movie. With the training she would have been given she would know how to disappear while still remaining in plain sight.
Bourne series are timeless and priceless. The ending is the best ever conceived in the history of Film industry let alone Hollywood! Her smile not only made me smile but brought tears to my eyes for the sheer creativity of human mind and Bourne's swimming away.....
The cat and mouse chase between Jason and the asset and vs versus (even both the way each of them see each other down the hall way at the start of the film and here at the end ), starts and ends the same
