Their songs are produced by the duo of Leez and Ollounder, a korean duo. However the girls are very involved with the thematics and genres they want to try. Since their sound is pretty unique (kpop song structure + rock/metal inspired riffs), Leez and Ollounder have said that when they compose for Dreamcatcher they only think about the 7 members, so most if not all of theirs songs are tailor made for them. This said, some members do have songs where they took part in composing, and the numbers of these songs have been increasing on each album as they grow more experienced.

As the group has gotten older they have been getting more and more crediting input on their music. Also, not sure if anyone said this, but a lot of Dreamcatcher's releases are done in arcs (Nightmare era and Dystopia trilogy).

Actually most of them are took a part in production, they helped in writing lyrics, composing, or even making choreographies.. But most of the songs are produce by the team producers that concist of two guys named LEEZ & OLLOUNDER.. They created so many great songs with Dreamcatcher, and also somtimes work with another artists... But the girls pretty much talented in production stuff.. 3 of the members even have their own selfmade songs that include in the albums.

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip your spine out when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
Musically, BEcause is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's adlibs is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done.
About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you".
The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.
Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?

Pink Fantasy also incorporates rock/metal in their songs. So, Dreamcatcher is no longer the only girl group to do so, but they were the first.

BEcause is definitely on the lighter side for their sound because it was a summer release, but they kept their signature dark fantasy concept with the MV being inspired by the horror movie Us.
As for Boca, it’s also kind of on the lighter side honestly!The other two parts of the Dystopia trilogy are Scream and Odd Eye, and they both go a lot harder. Their typical sound is very rock and metal inspired, but they’re super versatile and cover a huge range of genres in their b-sides too!
I feel like you might enjoy reacting to a guide next! There are several really good ones out there that all will give you a good sampling of their music and an overview members’ voices/personalities/roles in the group. I’d honestly just pick the most recent one.

boca is part of their dystopia trilogy, based on the (originally japanese) wise monkeys proverb: hear no evil (for this the song is called "scream"), speak no evil ("boca"), see no evil (the song is called "odd eye"). the songs (each one was the title track of an album or mini album) were released in exactly this order: first scream, in february 2020, then boca, in august 2020, and lastly odd eye, in january 2021.

every song is different and they have songs from soft ballads to metal. they are known for genre mashing usually with rock influence. most of their music is produced by leez/ollounder who were with them since the start so they are like family. a few of the members have written/composed a few b-sides. of course that's not their ticket. it's all about the music and the performance and it's top tier in so many ways. I'd recommend just checking out a few more music videos and their dance practices if you are into choreo. once you got a better grasp of their sound, you can try a guide on the group/members.
'scream' and 'odd eye' are part 1 and 3 of their dystopia trilogy, respectively. the dystopia trilogy is a criticism of the internet and social media. 'because' is about one's internal struggle between good/evil, sort of like jekyll and hyde. a recurring theme in their discography is to never give up on your dreams but most importantly retain your individuality and morals in its pursuit. another good song to check out is 'deja vu'.

Glad you liked what you heard! You should definitely check out the two other installments of the Dystopia trilogy, since you watched part 2. Part 1 is called "Scream" and part 2 is called "Odd Eye". It's actually a really dark concept covering some very serious topics. The trilogy addresses harassment - Scream (using a witch hunt as a metaphor), (cyber)bullying and telling those people to shut their mouth or they'll shut it for you - Boca, and not allowing technology and similar vices to lock you into a false sense of utopia while the real utopia crumbles around you (metaphor or not).
All of their title tracks incorporate that rock sound and have darker concepts (serious, dystopian, and/or spooky - As you saw. lol). Their first few title tracks started of very j-rock/j-pop but branched out over time to blend their signature rock style in between or with other genres. Their B-Sides are a trip because the rock requirement goes away completely. They have rock B-sides, for sure, but they also have, a lo-fi ish jazz song, a reggae style song, ballads, EDM, some that I'm not even sure how to describe via a genre (that's on me though), and lots more. They're a very versatile group.

BEcause is a horror song about Doppelgangers, inspired by Jordan Peele's 2019 movie 'Us'. Dreamcatcher went to watch it together and they decided to make a creepy song inspired by it. It's also inspired by the b-movie 'Dollhouse', an old cult classic.
Boca is part 2 of the Dystopia Trilogy, which deals with the woes of the online world of ours. Cyber bullying, harassment and cyber violence. It tells the bullies and toxic people to shut their Boca. It's part of a backlash in the Korean society, after many idols and actors passed after being treated like that by toxic people and crazy fans. At the time of the MV was filmed, three young artists passed and two others before them. The part about too many angels dying refers to that. The contrast in the melodies and visuals in the song represents the battle between Utopia and Dystopia, the two different places we're going with our technology, as we stand at a crossroads.
Boca is the Speak No Evil part of the Trilogy, Scream is the Hear No Evil and Odd Eye the See No Evil part.

Dreamcatcher (DC/Deukae) is an unique 7 member girl group. As far as I know, it's the only K-pop group which *CONSISTENTLY* infuse pop with rock/metal instrumentals within *ALL* their *TITLE TRACKS*.
I prefer calling them K-pop/rock group.
Their songs incorporate different genres blending rock/metal/synth sounds into the mix. Thus creating an unique blend of sound, which has become their signature. They're also known to produce dark/creepy concept, and their MVs are mostly story based, connecting one song to another.
On the other hand, their B-sides holds a *HUGE* variety of genres and experimental fusion creativity. Ballads, EDM, jazz, funk, reggae, hard metal/rock, just to name some. Their versatility seems infinite, as they continue to surprise us everytime they comeback with new songs.
Even the idols themselves show their creativity by taking part and getting credited for the composing, writing, choreographies of some of the songs too. They have also done numerous covers, adding their own twist to the songs, making it their own.

I recommend you Scream(part 1) and Odd Eye(part 3) which are have a different vibe to taste, Odd Eye, some hip hop and Scream, edm.

Nice reaction. Dreamcatcher is my top favorite K-pop group ! When I went to see Dreamcatcher's New York concert 3 years ago, I was amazed at their great vocal and dance skills, and I, my friends and all the audience were enthusiastic about the three-hour performance. It gave me goosebumps and admiration to see them dance and sing brilliantly at the same time. The concert fever still makes my heart flutter. As always, Dreamcatcher is Dreamcatcher. Dreamcatcher are the one and only group that has really stood out to me, reminding me of rock bands I used to listen to, where they have a signature sound that runs right throughout all their music and title tracks. That's helped along by Leez and Ollounder who are effectively two hidden members of the group, not just doing the composing and producing but the instrumentals, guitar/drums etc, and working together with the members as a whole team. They're one big happy (and chaotic) family (the members and all their supporting staff) which feels rare in the industry.

@@AggressivelySweet hehe, Dreamcatcher can have that effect, I did the same when I first discovered them. They have Japanese releases too but those are on another channel and I'm not sure how picky they are about copyright. These really brought my back to the rock music I used to listen to :D

A quick description of the members, based on these two MVs,
JiU - Leader of the group, oldest member, Lead vocalist and Lead dancer. She had the opening lines in BEcause and has sleek, long black hair in both videos. If you watch Scream, her hair is bright purple.
SuA - Main dancer of the group and a vocalist. She sings in both pre-choruses and the bridge of BEcause. In Boca, she also sings in the pre-chorus (white dress).
Siyeon - Main vocalist of the group (an absolute powerhouse) In BEcause, she has short black cropped hair for part of it, but longer brown hair in the rest of the video. In Boca, she sang the chorus + also hit that crazy note at the end.
Handong - Vocalist, chinese member. In BEcause, she had the long blonde hair. Sadly, she did not appear in the Boca M/V as she was in China at the time working on another project.
Yoohyeon - Lead vocalist of the group. She had the shorter blonde hair in BEcause, and caught your eye in the dance practice. In Boca, she sang both pre-choruses (brown hair with light streaks).
Dami - Main rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist. She is probably the most recognisable member. Brown hair with grey ends in BEcause, and Blue hair in Boca.
Gahyeon - the youngest member, a Vocalist and Lead rapper. She had the bright red hair in BEcause, and pink hair in Boca.

well a lot of fellow insomnias already told you almost everything. I just want to say that you are maybe the first non Argentinian reactor to ever make the conection between BOCA and Boca juniors the Football team. The fun fact about this is that the 2 special edition of that album (Lose myself) are in blue and yellow, exactly the colours of Boca Juniors, it may have been a coincidence, but me as an Insomnia and a Boca fan, just love that.
Also BOCA mv got 50M views the 12 of december, this was the first time a Mv of Dreamcatcher got that many views, and that day is know for being the "Dia del hincha de boca" (the day of Boca fan) because their are called "la doce" (the twelve)

Thanks for the reaction :D Dreamcatcher is my favorite group and as you have probably noticed they rock :D They do produce their own songs (there is at least one song that they produced on almost every album), with the help of the 2 geniuses of music LEEZ and Ollounder (who are in charge of most of Dreamcatchers discography).

The group is under exclusive contract to their agency, Dreamcatcher Company. Their song writing production team (Leez and Ollounder) are not. They write songs for other groups, but they have written almost all of Dreamcatcher's title tracks and most of their B-sides since they debuted in 2017 with the song Chase Me. Leez and Ollounder created their unique blend of rock and k-pop. Their MV's are made by an audio visual company that specializes in making MV's for Kpop groups. How all of this comes together is only known to those involved in the process. Some of the members have collaborated on the composition and lyrics for a few of the songs, notably Dami (rapper) and Jiu (group leader). As they've developed and matured as a group their creative input has greatly increased.

Dreamcatcher is a 7member girl group with rock and edm influence however they are extremely diverse,They can range from rock to jazz and beautiful ballads. They come from a small company once called Happy Face Entertainment now called Dreamcatcher Company. They have no wins at this time due to bias and manipulation in the kpop industry not favoring them becuase they are " unconventional" with their concept.

I love Dreamcatcher, Metal was my main music style years ago. I love the songs Piri, What, Chase me, but i guess i love all theirs songs tbh. Because its fine but they have better songs like Boca.

So excited for this Nelson 😁😝 been listening to so much Dreamcatcher at the moment. Just wondering, have you seen my further comment on the teaser for your producer reacts video? It's a reply to your reply to my original comment - I provided a whole bunch of reaction suggestions for both Dreamcatcher and TXT with links. I've pointed out songs that I believe are most likely ones you will prefer or are the commonly popular so you can avoid them if you want (as I know you usually prefer not to go straight in with reaction for those ones) and ive suggested other diverse songs for both groups.
