    I’ve been doing research on those new controllers Pit Boss has and the Loreado as well. The only thing they add to what we have right now is wifi. They don’t adjust in 5 degree increments like the Camp Chef Woodwind does. Theroretically they’re going to come out with a wifi controller for the verticals but still won’t be adjustable in 5 degree increments.

    Hello Paul! I have an Austin XL from Pit Boss at home and love it. I'm wanting to get a smoker for our camper as well, and was looking at the 700 Classic. Do you have an idea of whether 3 racks of ribs could fit on the 700 or not? If it can't, I'll probably buy another Austin XL for our camper. Thanks for any insight you may have!

    I get it that BBQ (in general) is an art form..... However, I recently saw that wrapping a temp probe INSIDE the foil could cause damge to the probe. Should the probe be inserted after the foil (or butcher paper) wrap?

    • @paulsq_
      @paulsq_  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sorry for the late reply. I’ve not had any issues doing overnight cooks so far. I just make sure I clean the fire pot out before the cook and fill the hopper all the way up so I know it won’t runout of pellets or hang up on the sides leaving a void in the middle. I always use my ThermoWorks Smoke to monitor the cook this way if anything does go wrong the alarm on it will wake me up so I can investigate.

  • @jonbuettner270
    @jonbuettner270 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow. I am surprised when you unwrapped it and put it back on to tighten the bark up that it didn’t start dropping on the internal temp?

  • @DEwayne0247
    @DEwayne0247 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the same grill and still testing everything out. I’m curious on dial there is smoke then there is all temperatures. On smoke setting it gives you “P” options to adjust the temperature…. But it looked like you just didn’t pick smoke but went straight to 200 degrees. Isn’t that technically grilling..I ask because does it not give off that much smoke if you don’t specifically choose smoke option? My smoke option on p setting zero only gets to maybe 175-180 degrees under perfect external conditions

    • @devorbacualex
      @devorbacualex 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You still get Smoke Even if you pick the temperature.
      The o lu difference is the on the Smoke option it loads more pellets based on time only. It doesn’t care about internal temp. Lower P setting will give higher temp. P stands for pause. Less pause means more pellets ==> higher temp.
      Where on the temperature setting, it loads pellets based on temp to try and hold the set temperature. For overnight cooks, temp setting is safer in my opinion. (As the outside temp varies - cold night maybe)

Excellent tenderizer tho.. so there's no need for that injection crap, poke a few holes with a fork and your good! and it goes right down in the meat. Some of that rub will find it's way after the brisket set for 30 min. Big Big difference in flavor either way..it's an old secret to those that don't know about it already.
