I've been researching the Seamaster 300M for almost 2 years and purchased one this week. 3 minutes into this video and I've already learned more than I thought I would. Thank you, I appreciate the info, time and making this video.
Congrats on ur purchase! I’m looking into the same watch. Huge purchase for me as it took a lot of saving. Do you still have this watch by chance? Thanks!
Great video, nice image quality, but with some inaccurate infomation... The service for the 8800 caliber is 5-8 years (Omega) but acctually is much more... @Matt Phelan, already mentioned this. Also, for this caliber it is not an issue if you set the date between 8pm and 3am! I have this information directly from the Omega butique in Munich, from an Omega expert... so, you can set the date whenever you want.
The dial is used the other way the bezel 0 is the only illuminated one so you set that to reflect the end of your dive with the minute hand starting at your total time
My bezel has a mind of its own. Sometimes it’s ultra smooth, easy to turn…sometimes it’s super hard to even budge. Other than that I’ve only owned mines for 2 weeks now and it’s super nice to look at. One of the best in my own collection of 20 watches
I bought my watch (or more accurately my wife) as a 25th wedding pressy, in the last few years I have worn the Apple Watch as its functionality is fantastic, style wise it cannot hold a candle to the Seamaster it spends most of its life on a watchwinder.
I just bought this last month, black dial, love it! I plan to wear it every day for everything.. I'm surprised they say avoid all those activities, especially shooting, don't Navy seals have Tudor watches? I really don't want to baby it.. I'll go swimming with it.. take it in the shower, its my only nice watch and I want to live with it.. a piece of art on my hand, real craftsmanship.. just hope the servicing down the road is not a pain..
Everyone loves the blue.. I have the black.. its great.. the blue is more flashy, and the blue makes it look cheaper in the sunlight to me... it doesn't match with as much, black goes with everything and is more sophisticated : )
@@bobjones6649 Yes the modern versions of the Seamasters have a more bling bling/shiny vibe than previous versions. That's very common with ceramic divers anyway. I could say the same about the modern submariners. I personally purchased the 2012 no wave ceramic model. The design is closer to the 90's model. You're right, the black one is more elegant (even I love blue in general)
Hello, I have this watch in white and blue. My first swiss watch. I would like clarification. How do I know if I am in position 1? To wind the watch I need to turn the crown towards 12 o’clock?
hello, please. help. i need to find out the right referece number for this seamaster 300 m steel bracelet as i bought mine with rubberstrap on it. thank you
I really like this watch, but I have to say in wearing it for almost a year I have not had any complements on it. Don't regret buying it in the least though.
hd31 disagree! Black dial is too much like Rolex! Blue dial is nice but common. Gray dial is classy and blends with the steel Bracelet for continuity. Blue bezel sets it all off! Love it!
Soldiers have been wearing mechanical watches for decades, with a lot of rough riding on terrain and of course shooting rifles. I've done it myself with watches a lot cheaper than this one. I think especially things like golfing and mountain biking should be fine.
This watch does not lose time! Which is awesome. I get +4 seconds per day when I'm wearing it, and +1 to 2 seconds when its still. The best thing with the watch not losing times is that you can just pull out the crown, wait a couple of seconds for the computer clock to catch up, and then press it back again. No need to change the minute hand.
Wind the watch forward until the date changes. Then you know you're now in the AM hours. Continue to wind until you get past 4am and into the safe range to continue to manually set the date from there.
Daniel Jimenez Fernandez I have it with a steel bracelet! It’s beautiful! The silver dial blends continuously with the bracelet and the blue bezel pops!! They’re not as common as the all blue or all black! It’s a special piece 👍🏻I don’t know how to attach a photo on here since I’m on my iPhone but I assure you it’s a beautiful watch👁🌟👁
why cal 8800 not allow to set date between 8-2? tag heuer aqua racer 5 manual book did not put any note like that. also omega cal 9904 did not warn us. rolex sub also not warn any about 8-2. is that mean cal 8800 its way behind?
Vicky Sieto Hey friend. This rule applies to any watch that has a quick-set date feature and not only the 8800. The 8800 is one of the nicest movements out there currently in terms of timekeeping, magnetic resistance (15,000 gauss), and durability. The 8800 in many ways in ahead of other high end movements.
Michael Branyon Jones thanks for the info. I check many watch use guide. I really curious 😜. I dont have many watch knowledge so i try to get information. As i read on some web even aqua racer 5 should not set date on some hours. The only one i still looking is cal 9904
I wonder you neglected to mention how much a Omega service would cost, these services dismantle and reassemble watch are far from cheap . Many watch lovers just about can pay for their luxury watch. Also TH-camrs CraigShipp and WatchChris state they never services watches unless there faulty. My personal experience l have a Seiko 5 bought in 2000 for under a $100 , watch still working its runs a bit fast ,but thats small fries. Servicing watches is a con ,if your watch has a fault or not service price will be the same in most cases.
Hello, in terms of changing the date, how does the watch know in what time zone it is 8pm-4am? When I purchased the watch, I set it to ET, but is it based on that? I wanted to know since I travel a lot. Thank you!

Yusaku Fudo Hey friend. Co-axial refers to the type of escapement used in the watch while chronometer means that the watch passes multiple timing tests to be within a certain +/- seconds per day tolerance. I hope this helps and finds you well.
5:49 with all due respect, this is just for omega to get more money from service. The quality must be abysmal if it cannot hold the water resistance for more than 1 year... cheaper watches can do this for 10 years without service (the $60 Amphibians for instance)... is Omega trying to tell us that they cannot engineer something similar in a 6000 USD watch?!
Just spot to an Omega rep at a boutique today. The Coaxial movement means getting your watch sent in for am overhaul every 10 years is what she says they recommend.
SHS, Short Hand Syndrome - a deficit found in lower end mechanism watches. It takes a powerful mechanism of GS to carry those solid broad long hands at high frequency, maintaining high power reserve and keep precision. Connoisseurs called it, HPP, High Performance Precision. Oh, yes, skeleton hands are certainly a deficit. Definitely not in the taste of connoisseurs.
Oh dear, Tim nice but Dim recommends servicing a Co Axial Master Chronometer watch every 3-5 years when the very purpose of George Daniels’ creator was an accurate movement which reduced friction and the subsequent need for servicing more than once every 7-10 years 🤦🏻
In other words, don't wear this watch at any time besides diving, but then only if you're gently diving. This stout sports watch isn't suitable for anything having to do with actual sports.
Just got it for 3 months, which 2 in service, after a month i sent it to omega's service because of the problem in the date changing, after 30 days i received with another problem on the lock mechanism which it was ok when i sent it first, really really disappointed by the omega's service, awful experience never will buy a omega's product again.
A. H. Is a pity you have this bad experience. I am fan of both brands (Rolex/Omega) and no one gave me problems so far. Problems happens even in “the best families”. Omega is not a bad company at all. With my best regards

Excellent video. Thank you. A must watch for all seamaster owners
What is the best solution if I don't wear the watch for a long time? Thanks for answer😃
Amazingly thoughtful and concise review.
Really appreciate the “hows” and the “whys” when setting and adjusting.
Great for a newbie like me.

how many people realistically send their watch in for full service every 5 years?

yes

easiest thing to do is just set to 6 o clock before adjusting the date..that way whether its morning or night it is out of the danger zone.
good stuff. thanks Tim
Thanks for your kind words and thanks for watching!

Not if your wearing it. Wearing it Charges it up. If it’s dead, then you manually wind it up.
