This is a pen created by Wing Sung. Its cheap, durable, reliable, has a nice nib and has a piston filler. What else could you ask from a pen that only costs $3.
This pen has a Lamy style 0.38mm extra fine nib made from stainless steel.

The main risk with buying great Chinese pens like this one is, that you will buy more. Like the Jinhao Shark and the Jinhao 992, 993 994. X450, X750 and the 159.
Not to mention the Wing Sung 601, the Wing Sung 3001.
I bought 4 of these 3008 pens in different colours for £8!
I know that you must be very busy making pens, but, in case you haven’t noticed, they have updated the pen with a different style of nib.
I have a few 3008's, all your comments spot on & I can say these are consistent . I also have experienced receiving a different pen that ordered. Agree with Richard need to find seller who ships as ordered. I have a 580 & this is a mimic. Some changes for the better, disassemble easily no tools, biggest downside is the Lamy/Platinum style nib. Difficult to find varieties of these style nibs. Like B nibs. Thanks for sharing.
Fair comments there. I wish these pens would have something other than a lamy nib, nothing wrong with them, in fact most are really good, but they aren't what I would call 'exciting' to use. Thanks for watching :)

Has anyone experienced that the nib is very easy to extract, and even with a shake it slips off? I have!
I have two of these and the caps don’t really move around much, I do screw them in tight, they only wiggle around if I don’t screw the cap enough.
My body is well constructed but my nib let's me down.
But my Wing Sung 3008 is very reliable.
Thank you, JPL, for this excellent review. Sorry you didn't get the silver pen and even the nib was not what you wanted. I'd be tempted to send a message to the seller expressing your disappointment. They might do the right thing and send you the correct pen free of charge. They only have to check your order details to confirm their mistake. Worth a try! Having said that, I quite like the gold colour 3008 and as you said, Wing Sung seem to be producing some great pens. I mean, a piston filler at this price is really remarkable.

JPL Another great review. The Caliarts Ego is another fine TWSBI 580 clone except it uses "Pilot" nibs. .
It should be noted that when UNposting the cap, it's possible to pull out the inner piston workings! Ask me how I know...
One thing I found is the screw that controls the piston actually has small notches in it to keep it from spinning freely. It can be hard to lock in but it should keep you from pulling it out.
I bought this pen because of this review. It's definitely hard to beat for 2 dollars. I have been using this for about 3 weeks now and am happy with my purchase. It is uncomfortable if you use it posted and the knob to turn the piston is a little shaky. The piston is solid. Its just a plastic piece that fits over the actual end piece to turn the piston. The plastic also feel like a bic crystal. Even with these negatives I would still recommend this at a price of under 2 dollars on ebay.

Also, great review. Most people seem to like the 3008 but you're the first to say the nib is buttery smooth. You should tell the seller about getting the wrong item too.
I bought one of these and was concerned that the fill knob may be turned thus emptying the ink out, however I found there is a positive click that locks the knob when turned to maximum fill and a positive action is required to turn it into the fill position. I find this to be quite a nice pen to use
Glad to hear that your pen writes great :) About the piston locking mechanism, that was a newer addition to the 3008 that occurred after I reviewed my pen.
I like the WS 3008 but a recent discovery is the 3009. Similar pen but it has a faceted/ergonomic grip and - unless I've just been lucky - it feels more sturdily and solidly put together. My go-to piston filler is still the Wing Sung 698, but the 3009 has become a close second. The market has been recently flooded by a whole slew of brandless pens claiming to be a Wing Sung 3008 but they are sometimes of a dubious and flimsy quality.
This thing is amazing, i got the version 2 which has a click locking mechanism on the piston filler when it is fully retracted, overall in price and quality and the fact that it is a piston filler, id say this is the best fountian pen in terms of price ive ever had.

Also, can you exchange the nib with a regular lamy nib? You mentioned it's a "lamy style nib", which got me confused.
Hello there. I watched your review before I bought this pen. I love everything about it, except for the ink, it writes just a tad then it doesn't write. I have washed it with luke warm soap and water three times, let it sit straight up, and on it's side.. I was gentle with tapping to see if anything happens on a napkin, still nothing. I am using a recommended ink, but what are you using for ink??? What do you think is wrong, and how can I fix it????? I really love the pen feel and want to use that pen.

I bought a 3008 on eBay and got what seems to be a 3009 with an ergonomic grip with a totally clear cap with a 3008-style clip, no branding on the whole pen. I got it for under $2 US. It seems suspicious.

I recently bought a 3008 and the nib isn't great. The slit from the hole to the tines is much too wide so the ink is difficult to get flowing. When it does write it's very smooth but then it stops and you have to mess about with it to get it going again. Is this the same for the majority of users?
Dang that's a shame, most people have had a good experience with them, me included. The place most people to go for help is either fountain pen network or reddit /r/fountainpen. Wish I could elp but I don't have enough experience in properly repairing lamy style nibs. AN alternative if you don't want to fix it is to buy a lamy stlye nib off ebay for like $3, they should fit

You have to specify if it has a crappy Lamy grip that forces you to write horizontally (most don't). China now ships a lot of shitty Lamy Safari grips without informing the public.

Took your advice from the 3003 video and ordered one of these. Also ordered the 3003 just bc I've never used an EF before and I liked the look of it and it was cheap enough.
Uh oh just realized I also requested silver and the .5mm. Hoping I get what I ordered.
Hopefully so eh. Both are great pens anyway :)
You could easily complain to the seller that you received a gold one instead of silver. They will probably end up refunding your money and you get to keep the pen.

Does someone know if there's a way to make the pen a bit drier? Sometimes I need to use it on cheap copy paper and most Chiese EF pens are very dry and don't feather even on the crappiest paper. But the WS3008 is a firehose and feathers every paper I have.
Idk but i normal widen the tines for thicker and wetter lines so i guess you could tighten the tines. Im not sure tho...

most genuine wing sung pens will have the wing sung logo on the nib.
