Oh man...you are INSANE! You do ALL THAT every time you buy a gun?!?! I love it. For all the guns I buy...I'd be wasting years of my life. Hahaha I learned a lot. Keep it up!!!
I don't own one. I am used to shooting 44 and 357 magnums. However, this pistol is extremely light for a 44, and the short barrel doesn't help in the recoil department. I like it so much I would have to shoot it. I think firing 44 special would make it bearable, and magna porting could make it enjoyable. All that being said I think the 327 might be best for me . An 8 shot 357 with a 2" barrel. It still has the titanium cylinder and the scandium frame 23.2 ounces. My everyday carry used to be a sig p226, but I sold it. So I am considering the 327 or maybe a 10 mm probably another sig.
The titanium cylinder is prone to pitting and eroding when high velocity light bullets are shot. I put a S&W 629 cylinder on my Model 329PD and never looked back. Stainless steel is more durable than the grade of titanium S&W uses to make their cylinders.
Was it a simple swap? Do you replace the ejector also or use all the PD parts and change over the cylinder? Which cylinder do you use? I see a 629, and 629-1 on Midway USA
@@Bowstringdotcom I just swapped the cylinder out and used it. No problem. The model 329 is the same as the model 629 and model 29 just different materials.
Those wood grips are nice but you might wantcto get some X-frame grips. They have some cushioning built in. The 329PD is a beast with full power 240 grain bullets. A good shooting glove will tame things also. The 329PD is made for all those times you need an easily carried revolver with a fair amount of power. Fiocchi makes 240gr JSP ammunition that is below advertised velocity and great for practice.
very interesting presentation,,,,I am planning on getting new one but will do your basic step checkup anyway,,,,interesting enough when I was watching your video my eyes cought something @5:29,,,- crane has #854,,,then @11:11 you had mentioned #854 engraved on that plate,,,,wired experience but now I know why I did notice that number on a crane,,,it looks that all removable parts have #,,,it's like an automobile vin#,,,,,,thanks again
I wonder if the 340PD and 329PD are stubborn like that because the little blast shield steers some of the gasses from the cylinder gap up and over the top of the cylinder. I also noticed your test didn’t include hammer follow? That said I’d be shocked to see a 340 or 329 shot enuf to have that issue 😂
Some of the channel viewership was interested in a longer format video with a slower pace. Its possible that another video may release that covers the breadth of that material in a much shorter video. Thank you for the feedback.
Yeah I’ve watched too many videos of people shooting that and I already know I wouldn’t like it. Hell I sold my 3” 629 durning the pandemic (for more than I bought it new!👍🏻😏) because the blast and recoil made it not fun to shoot with the fancy wood grips other than 44spl, no one wanted to shoot it with me! I ended up getting a 8” Raging Hunter with those gel pad grips and the weight and magna porting it’s a dream to shoot! Although the trigger isn’t quite as nice as the 629. 🤷♂️🫤
You’re like that dude in Toy Story 2 who painstakingly fixed up Woody. 🤠
He has a name bro.
@@joemo1033 Geri is the mans name. I didn’t realize this channel had such die hard Toy Story fans 🤣😂
Thanks for an outstanding video, it's very clear and well explained throughout.

I have the 329 nightguard. It doesn't have the terrible titanium, and it feels great. Love mine.
Excellent video. Very informative. I have heard several varied opinions regarding the 629 PD. A good carry gun, but not to be shot often.

Those grips are PURRRty!
Ahrends grips. Unfortunately they have shut down and are no longer producing grips. If you see them in the wild snatch them up!

Does the different weighted cylinder affect the timing at all?
How long was it before your original cylinder, pitted and eroded?
How long was it before your original cylinder became pitted and eroded?

@@nhwnhw02 lots of people recommend that, I can see why, but I find these grips are great with the recoil.

How cool would it be to heat up the Titanium cylinder a little and get that gold/blue/purple colors out of it? 😂
Man I thought you said you were in upstate NY. LOL.
DUDE … I’m in Ogdensburg…
Might as well be in Ottawa.

Add a cup of distilled White Vinegar.
Is the clean lube equal parts of the atf,k1,and mineral spirits?
Bingo
You could've covered this in about 3 minutes.

Would it be safe to drop all the parts in your ultrasonic cleaner
Depends on the solvent solution in your cleaner.
