For "Old viewers of the channel"... and "those who have been watching for a while"... that's me on both counts..! Great to get the Porsche back.. thanks both, my Sundays are complete again..😂👍🏴
I can't explain why but I love this channel. The interaction between John en Dom is unique. They deserve a tv show on their own. Discovery Channel, wake up 🙂
Really enjoying all the 356 content. I feel some of your pain having bought a 356A coupe replica shell ( without subframe ) and am designing/building complete chassis from scratch.
Awesome, glad to see the 356 is making progress. It's never an easy or fast road to do these right, and it's certainly not cheap! Too bad Trevor isn't a channel sponsor to offset some of your cost😁
I have been saving this episode for Tuesday. You and John are a special dessert for me,thank you so much for sharing this with us. Cheers From California 😎
I enjoy the variety of projects. About the Aerocar, check out The Old Rheinbeck Aerodrome. They have been working with aircraft engines for at least 65 years. Though Cole Palen no longer is alive, there is plenty of expertise there. Also The Smithsonian Air and space Museum will definitely have info on you engine. I have been working on an auto project myself a 62 MGA in similar condition to your Porsche. Also building a desk out of a piano, bringing back to life an old outboard motor, building a utility shed and even a project like you people do in the repair shop, making something out of a wedding present that my grandfather gave to my parents.
Dom the minute you said we are working on the porsche today i thought i heard clown music then i realised i did hear clown music the ice cream van was coming down the street🤣😁great to see just a bit of work on the ol vdub cheers from down under
Nice to see some more progress on the Porsche though I totally enjoy all of your videos. I am amazed at the skill and ability that you and John possess to accomplish such a complex task, well done !!! I am also looking forward to following your journey building the Aero Car.
The single rear bumper tube is most likely correct for your car. The early teardrop cars had them. The parts book stated that they should be replaced for split tubes because the police didn’t like them. Info from ‘The 356 Porsche’ by Dr B Johnson.
Greetings from the good side of the pond, Torrance, Ca, U.S.A., At 8:22 you talk about how depressing it can be. I found your channel on 10-08-2024, binged 'till 4:00 AM, caught up today, (12-09-2024), and had to mention that I've been renovating/restoring a 250-year-old French ''comtoise Morbier'' grandfather clock I've had too re-stain, re-sand so many times. So many times in the past 3 years, I have wanted to quit. Thank you for sharing your persistence. I cannot wait to see the finished piece!
Awesome! I originally subscribed for the 356. I have been entertained all along but was worried that I'd have to sit thru the (interesting) Areo Car build before I saw the return of the 356. Lo0oking forward to more!
With the spot welder put some insulation tape on the end of the arms. It can arc out through that spot and not give as good a weld. On the slug test, fold the two pieces back, stick it in a vice and peel it off. You should hope for at least a 3mm measurable slug in stuck on one of the parts and a hole in the other. Don't rush the welds too, if the tips aren't water cooled they can change resistance as they heat up and again the weld can go bad once the tips are hot ! Usually happens more on thicker gauges !
Ahh... Dom. Thanks for another ep and for teaching us lot stuff we may or may not know. Trevor, if you're reading this then cheers for helping the lads out. Jon, you the man. All that measuring and then you finally did it. The only way you could top it?! Probs have the Supervisor onsite. Just sayin'... 😉😉💪💪
Hi Dom' ? I'm so pleased Jon loves the spot welder and releaved that it does what it says on the tin . It was always my favourite when l used it . And so pleased to see progress on the Porsche . Dom' , as l always say , the cheapest part of a car is buying it ! Take care .
Great episode, as I said at the start - this is the best TH-cam project out there right now. Looking forward to more updates and cup cake flavours soon.
As part of the "Old Viewers' of the channel great to see the Porsche back on the screen. How abot some "Old Viewers" merch? ..white stick, zimmer frame etc! Keep it on going please. 😉
Next time, maybe John can select the muffins for getting to play with his favorite tool, and I don't mean you Dom, I meant the spot welder he he ! Looks great, maybe you can check the current fit vs your digital model, or have you done that already to fit the bumper mounts ?
Absolutely Brilliant Dom i actually cheered when i seen what the episode was about. A panel a day and it will soon be a car again.keep up the amazing work guys.
Great work Dom and John. Great to see you working on the Porsche again. It been way to long, missed having my Porsche restoration fix. Keep up the amazing work!
Having done a couple of restorations on tr cars I found its best to concentrate on one area at a time then it doesn’t depress you. Keep up the good work guys.
Hi Dominic I’m so glad you put in your video that it does get depressing in from time to time doing these vehicles. A lot of people stop doing them. Hopefully they will give them the motivation to carry on.
Great to see a 356 update 👍 With so many awesome projects on the go at the same time I’d say it’s best to do what you want to when the time is right. Don’t be pressured by us 😈 Love the channel Dom 👌
At first, in the beginning of this series I thought this to be a car that I sold to a gentleman in the UK; same color, same general timeframe and definitely same condition (Northern New England). But mine was a 1960 T5 Coupe. As one who's familiar with the challenges of these rusty old 'Tubs,' taking mental health breaks is critical.
Wonderful. It does you good to look back and see how far you've come. Massive progress too 🎉 You're both hilarious! Thank you. And do you know what, it was the cake ... cake always works in this house! 🎉
Hi Dom! Thanks for long awaited Porsche episode. I know WD40 products are good, but for bolts as rusty as the ones on your bumper, get Wurth's Boltex. We use that stuff at work and it is incedibble. You literarly see the rust melting and pouring off of the part. Bolts on which it will not work will have to be cut with an anglegrinder. Keep up the good work mate! Good going!
Dominic, many thanks for the clarification. I probably missed that prep detail in the editing. Hope the project runs to what looks like a great conclusion
Dominic - have a look at the Porsche factory “made by hand “ film on you tube- it shows the spot weld team assembling the floor and body sections and there’s a close up of the application of the long jaws spot welder. In fact they are reasonably straight but are random - but alot quicker as you said! There’s no guide of where to weld - it’s all by eye and they add two welds on corners. Brilliant progress and thank goodness for Trevor!
For "Old viewers of the channel"... and "those who have been watching for a while"... that's me on both counts..! Great to get the Porsche back.. thanks both, my Sundays are complete again..😂👍🏴
Thanks for sticking around!
I like the variety on your channel, but I do appreciate when the 356 makes an appearance
Watching you two work together is as entertaining as the content 😂
John is so funny at times, I always enjoy watching the videos were both of them are working together.
Hate to say it, but John’s hat always reminds me of my colostomy bag on a particularly bad day.
I can’t help wondering what it smells like.
Thanks
Thank you so much!
I can't explain why but I love this channel. The interaction between John en Dom is unique. They deserve a tv show on their own. Discovery Channel, wake up 🙂
Itrs so satisfying when a panel you seem to have been working around for ever actually fits properly 😀 Great stuff !
It really is!
Lovely to have a Porsche episode, thank you both!
As a mate of mine said, "it's not a big job; it's a whole series of little jobs." [definitely a better way of looking at it.]
Taking shape Dom and John, well done.👍👍
Thanks 👍
Really enjoying all the 356 content. I feel some of your pain having bought a 356A coupe replica shell ( without subframe ) and am designing/building complete chassis from scratch.
Finally all caught up on the Porsche videos!
Great to see the progress, give us an idea how expensive that rear panel actually is !
I think all the prices are on Trevor’s website
I love this restoration project. BTW, it’s a Porsche, not a porsh
Awesome, glad to see the 356 is making progress. It's never an easy or fast road to do these right, and it's certainly not cheap! Too bad Trevor isn't a channel sponsor to offset some of your cost😁
Great surprise today in this grey and changing world....
Great to see you back on the 356 Dom ,try not to leave it so long till the next step 👍
I will try not to!
I so much enjoyed returning to the Porsche. Installation and surgery on the rear skin was satisfying. Looking forward to the fore skin.😜
I have been saving this episode for Tuesday. You and John are a special dessert for me,thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Cheers From California 😎
This 356 update was great! Here’s to the next one.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you
So delighted Porsche is back.😂

Love it Dom! More Porsche content needed!
YAY! Porsche content! I was starting to get worried!
Great stuff! I thoroughly enjoyed this episode....
Happy to see John again and that you are making progress on your Porsche. I think the muffins sound delicious!
Porsche came from the state I live in!!! Good things come from PA!!!
I like the teardrop lights better! Looking good!! 😊👍
Dom the minute you said we are working on the porsche today i thought i heard clown music then i realised i did hear clown music the ice cream van was coming down the street🤣😁great to see just a bit of work on the ol vdub cheers from down under
Excellent episode highly enjoyable especially with John your glamorous assistant 😅😊
Nice to see some more progress on the Porsche though I totally enjoy all of your videos. I am amazed at the skill and ability that you and John possess to accomplish such a complex task, well done !!! I am also looking forward to following your journey building the Aero Car.

Bravo!
Zoom zoom 😊
rusted nuts and bolts, heat them, let them cool down completly, WD 40 spray, THEN loosen them... ; ) love your channel, doing well👍
Starting to look almost like a Porsche. Can’t get over John’s pleasure at your discomfort while he’s using the spot welder Dom!😂
Great work you have alot of projects to juggle good on you .
John needs he's own channel 😂😅
He hasn’t got time for that!
Absolutely great to see your working success and progress at the Porsche🔝💯👌🏽👍🏼
Got to say, Sicilian lemon muffins really do sound the job!
The moment we hear John's laughter we know we're in for a great episode, and great to see the progress so far. :)
What an excellent episode Dom and John. My favourite Sunday evening viewing. 👍
Im sure everyone is agreement that we need to see more of Ash!!
Ahh... Dom. Thanks for another ep and for teaching us lot stuff we may or may not know. Trevor, if you're reading this then cheers for helping the lads out. Jon, you the man. Super Impressive as always ... that is looking properly cool!

The Porsche is the only reason I watch this channel.

Beautiful panels with such craftsmanship!
Great to see progress on the Porsche
Having done a couple of restorations on tr cars I found its best to concentrate on one area at a time then it doesn’t depress you. Keep up the good work guys.

It's alawsys sad and amazing how long fitting a "simple" bracket or whatnot can take...
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Yes more Porsche work
Great update, really enjoyed it. I'd be standing back and enjoying how good that new panel looks on the car if it was me.
Great job you guys, what a smile on Johns face when he has the spot welder in his hands.
Brilliant work Dom and John.
Been wondering what was going on with the 356...glad you've made some more progress
Wonderful. It does you good to look back and see how far you've come. Massive progress too 🎉
You're both hilarious! Thank you. And do you know what, it was the cake ... cake always works in this house! 🎉
I think it is. When I get pissed with my 1750GTV I remember that it was once just a rusty shell and now it's painted and on it wheels
Lovely progress lads. Big steps taken in this episode. It was worth the wait!
It’s going to be beautiful.
Hi Dom!

Nice work lads. That was worth waiting for 👍
"Job's a good'n" the quintessential channel tagline.
Love watching these videos all the way over in New Zealand
Hooray! The 356,were rejoicing!
Wow, great video! Thanks a lot from Vienna!!
