As a senior golfer, I recognize that the difference in golf balls declines exponentially with swing speed. My wife, an avid golfer, can’t slice her driver because her swing speed doesn’t generate enough ball speed to create the necessary spin. She commonly flys her driver shot 145 yards, occasionally 175, with a skip to the right when it hits the ground. But, she’s always in the fairway. I’ve bought the lady Precept, Titleist ProV1, Bridgestone E6 soft, and she finally settled on the Calloway Super Soft. I have discovered that at our age that the slower your swing, the more important “feel” becomes. So, the 5-700 difference in spin rpm becomes meaningless if you don’t hit the ball at the optimum speed. The difference you saw in the 2 balls you tested, would be statistically zero if I did the same test. I appreciate your comment about there being so little difference in the performance of balls, as I was about to give in to the hype about that self repairing resin coating and the massive difference that was being claimed in the advertising. They’re great balls, no doubt, competitive with any premium ball in the world, better than some. But, are premium golf balls the right choice for us “old guys and gals”? In my wife’s case, the Calloway SuperSoft is worth every penny. She rarely loses a ball and they come in pink! As for me, the Wilson Elite 50, Duo and Zip sure seems to work well.

I play ProV1X. When temps dropped below 45f last winter I tried the Supersoft and really liked it. Allowed me to have some feel with the ball. In fact it felt a bit like my ProV1X in warmer conditions. My wife plays the supersoft, her favorite ball.

Been using Chrome Soft and Truvis, but recently changed to the Supersoft. Great round the greens, love the soft feel. I tend to hit the ball high so the lower spin numbers have made longer/full shots more controllable. Haven't noticed any problems with stopping the ball. Also 2/3rd the price..................I lose them before wearing them out, lol.

Same. I used to play Chrome Softs too, but just switched to the Super Soft. I also hit my shots very high and found it fairly easy to control my draw with the super soft. Distance was spot on too. I’ve also started putting with the ERC Soft ball. Love the feel and look with the 3 lines. Haven’t hit full shots with it yet though.

I like using supersoft or superhot 55 on windy days but most of the time it's chromesoft x. I know it's clicky, but I find it to provide the best feedback for me in terms of sound and feel. Chromesoft is a very playable ball too but, it's a little muted for me, hence the X. Another Callaway ball I like and a little more affordable is the superhot 55. It comes off fast like the supersoft but has a little more feedback...harder cover as far as I can tell.

Thanks Rick. Definately Supersoft is my favorite as putting with a soft ball really feels great and builds confidence. I find the reduced spin also helps reduce slices on Drivers. I hate losing these beauties! The Yellow ball helps my poor eye sight. They also now come in funky matt finish greens and reds to freak out your playing partners!
My other go to soft choices would be Wilson, DuoSoft or 50/50. Thanks again, love your videos!

Been a Chrome Soft guy for a couple of years mostly due to the putting feel and muted sound. Was always a Pro V player but just don't enjoy the putter feel and that 'click' any more. I don't see much, if any difference, between a lot of the 'premium' balls in terms of playability. So a players' choice is usually just something like sound/feel/price/(maybe funky Truvis colours?) as most other metrics for the amateur will remain constant enough as to make next to, if not actually, zero difference over 25 rounds a year or whatever you play.

been quite a few years since I used a Callaway golf ball, but always liked using them when I did. I would very happily try the supersoft ball, as I really love the softer feel balls and will happily put up with a bit of scuffing for that additional feel around the green. I think the supersoft would be great for windy days and playing links golf, where keeping the ball down and making chip n run shots would be the order of the day. As much as like a ball to be able to spin nicely off a wedge, there are times that will forgo that.

If you test the B330s, include the RX models. Not everyone who subscribes to your channel is a millennial. P.S. I can't believe someone out there actually went through the trouble of inventing a tool specifically to cut a golf ball in half, but I guess the industry folks need it, at least to check quality control.

To all that came here for a supersoft ball review... Yes, low spin. Yes, low spin makes the ball fly further and roll further (opposite to what Rick apparently thinks), trajectory is the king.
Low spin mean also less SIDE SPIN. Your slice will be less "slicy". Your hook will be less "hooky". This ball is a good choice for higher handicap golfers.
No, you will not stop it that easily with your lob wedge flop shots. But let's be honest, as a high handicap golfer... do you really use those shots around the green?
And something that Rick did not mention. The soft ball means "low compression". It means that this ball will compress easier, with less force, with a slower swing, not that greatly delofted face... You will get this "exploding" effect even if you can swing your 7 iron only at 60 or 65 mph.
The problem with all tests is that they are made by pros, swinging at lightspeed, excluding bad shots, bad contacts, and only the best of the best strikes.
Supersoft balls, like this Callaway, Wilson supersoft duo, or Bridgestone E6 (my favorite), will help you play decent golf even if you are a beginner, hitting with more toe or heel of your club, a bit flippy, and so on.
I had one used Bridgestone E6 ball that I played 5 rounds with. Lost it eventually in a lake with a topped shot - but it held fairways like enchanted.
Bought more, they are good but I still miss this magic one.

I don't buy a whole lot of balls since they are so durable , since my brother and I always walk, we typically find at least 10 balls a round. Calloway's are super popular find a lot of them. Decided to try out orange Supersoft's ...They do feel different , and are not as durable for sure. I can usually get 2 rounds out of the same ball, but this one needed to be retired after one round. They are easy to spot tho and my eyes are getting pretty bad. Made no difference in scoring, the greens were soft at this course (Fox Hollow PA.)and any ball would have stuck.

I'm a low hdcp still. Former club champ (mid 90's) . Mostly play execs. Just tried the supersoft and love it. Less spin is my friend. I hate watching a pin hi ball spin back off the green.

I played the same supersoft ball for at least 54 holes and I couldn't find a nick or a scuff. I don't know where I got the ball but I ordered a dozen . Best ball I've played for the price at $19.99 a dozen.

I am a fairly high handicapper, still working on basics but I play 'confidently' :) Would it be better to look at Supersofts or would I benefit from the Chrome Soft?

Would you pick the Supersoft or the Titleist DT TruSoft? @Rick Shiels Golf

I play with the supersoft ball. Love it as it is longer than other balls I have used (or found!). Maybe give the chrome soft balls ago and compare. Thanks for the review and very useful

Interesting- thank you! MyGolf Spy likes to say “soft is slow”. That doesn’t appear to be the case here
Compression numbers would have been interesting.

I just started playing 5 month ago and i have made a lot of progress!! I’m to the point that I’m no longer losing too many balls, so I’m gonna stop playing the top flite and switch over to Callaway. Super soft.
Im sure that’s an upgrade 🤣😂 for me at least

You can use your fancy expensive golf equipment but I will challenge you to a round with me using my second hand shop clubs against your best you can come up with?. It’s all about the swing and the consistency

I've just started up golf again after a 17 year lay off and I managed to pick up 2 dozen new supersoft off ebay pretty cheap. I'll lose them in no time and then I'll look at something different.

If the distance is there, why care about spin? Seem supersoft out performed the other two. I hit supersoft farther than any other golf ball. My swing speed is around 90 mph.

I have only used a hard golf ball because that is what I was given because I've never had my own bag before and beggars can't be choosers, I will buy a wide variety of soft and hard and test what I like when I finish my bag.

people buy a new 500$ club on the promise of 10 yards....here we see 8-10yard advantage on a supersoft ball.

Chrome Soft X got shredded by the wedge it seems....At 11:43 you can see that the Chrome Soft X had tiny little hairs/shreds after the wedge slamming from Rick. The Chrome Soft regular did not.....

Squishy balls compress and compression negates spin.

Actual honest marketing. I'm impressed. I hope that's rewarded, I've thought for a long time honesty in marketing would help both the sales and the customer.
