    My experience with the smartcarb is very consistent with this review. It’s been a total game changer for my KTM, including allowing me to overcome very challenging tuning issues that my Lectron could not solve. Simple to adjust on the fly too. And yes the customer service is extremely good.

    I recently purchased a 2022 Sherco 300 SE Factory and added a Smartcarb at the time of purchase. My tuning experience is similar yours. I was expecting the baseline clicker setting to be a little rich, but reasonably close to where it needed to be. Now 3 rides and 2 fouled plugs later I think I’ve got it pretty well dialed in. Mine always ran great above 1/4 throttle, but was too rich on the bottom end. I’ve lost exact track of exactly where I’m at, but I think I’m 50 clicks leaner than baseline give or take 2-3 clicks. One thing to keep in mind is that the clickers only adjust the jetting below half throttle. Above half throttle is controlled 100% by the grind of the metering rod, and the only way to richen or lean the fuel mixture above half throttle is to install a different metering rod. So as long as you have the correct rod for your model of bike, you only need to worry about adjusting fuel to the bottom end (1/4 throttle and less in my experience).

    That thing sounds so clean and meaty! Think I’ll look into this for my 2020 300 RE. Also trails looks fantastic. My kind of terrain!

    I don’t if you ever try this, but if you look at the power valve cover on the left side of an Xtrainer engine there is a spacer there that the RR doesn’t have. It gives more volume to the chamber. This part can be added to an RR, it also has slightly longer bolts that it needs, which can be ordered with it. I notice that S3 makes such a part for Sherco 300.
    If you look at the parts schematic for Xtrainer cylinder assembly there is the four bolts, spacer and an additional gasket that makes up the assembly.

    Thanks for this. I broke mine in yesterday and played a bit with the clicker. Went leaner at first but wound up going richer. Still have to find that sweet spot.

    Parabéns pelo video caro Luís! 5 estrelas! Pensa nisso! Grande abraço!

    Thank you for the exteded review Luis, this is excellent. My own PERSONAL opinion is that millage comes second to performance, especially if your riding involves hard terain (hard enduro). No question about it, added millage is a great bonus to have, but on my PERSONAL list it ranks below- performance & response, ease of use, cimplicity of tuning and service.
    Is there any chance Steps to Podium will be able to offer a discount cupon for a SmartCarb 🙂?????

      Thank you Ariel! 😄
      I feel you! Again, I can't say if the SmartCarb is worth its price or not because of that, every rider has different preferences and priorities, so it comes down to personal preference 👌
      There's nothing expected, but if there is, I'll let you know! 😁

    I dont think there is a huge point to this test... no matter how good the SC vs TPI is... a lot depends on the rider and riding style.. IMO You need to compare same rider on same terrain riding similar to have a good comparison. I have gotten 50% more fuel economy than a riding buddy, (on the same bike) while riding faster through the exact same terrain. You are also doing a very long ride mostly open/flowy terrain. Still a good video! Thanks!

    Hi, so the sc2 runs on 36mm, enough also to go sometimes on a mx track? doesn´t need to be a 38mm on Beta 300 RR? gracias 🙂

  • @jboive
    @jboive ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool - but I was hoping for a bit more scientific approach. Too many variables here to say much about fuel consumption.
    Just got a Sherco 300 SE Factory 2023. My plan is to do an before and after in a bench on the same bike on the same day. Run a liter of fuel in the bench. Swap carbs do it again and compare the distance. Using the same gears, speed and rpm of course.
    We’ll see how it goes.

    Hey my friend I have a quick question if you don't mind answering. What metering rod do you run or do you change them depending on the terrain? Or do you think the AQ-11 does it all?

    • @StepstoPodium
      @StepstoPodium  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly, yeah, the AQ-11 does it all quite well, but I found the DF-11 to be the bomb for hard enduro more specifically. Tons of bottom end!
      For more flowy and fast stuff, I like to stick with the AQ-11 :)

    Olá Luís
    Mais uma vez muitos parabéns pelo teu trabalho sou seguidor do teu canal, principalmente pela informação bastante técnica que transmites, muito bom, Obrigado
    Eu estou já há muito tempo tentado em adquirir um carburador destes, um Lectron ou um Smartcarb, mas agora e apesar de ser mais caro, estou mais inclinado para um SC2.
    Tenho uma YZ250 que já tem muita preparação para andar em trilhos muiiiito lentos, e um Smartcarb SC2, no meu caso iria ter 2 vantagens, menos consumo, e melhoria de reposta em muito baixas rotações.
    A pergunta é, adquires-te o teu SC2 no site americano ou aqui na Europa?
    Obrigado.

      Olá Luis e muitissimo obrigado! Acredita que valem muito essas palavras e dão ainda mais motivação para continuar a fazer mais e melhor!🙏💪
      Fico contente que te tenha ajudado de alguma maneira 😊
      Em relação ao carburador, tratei de tudo com a empresa, por isso não sei como sera com o distribuidor europeu. Contudo, penso que é apenas umas questão de logística entre o europeu e o americano, todo o apoio ao cliente pode ser feito através do pessoal nos usa :)

    Did you ever have backfire or "pipe bang" how did you deal with that? Just lean out a bit?

    • @StepstoPodium

  • @TubolMotoadventures

    • @TubolMotoadventures
      @TubolMotoadventures 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StepstoPodium I thought it is rich by default from factory.. If you go 50+ richer then they sent u a lean initial setting.. is that correct?

    • @StepstoPodium
      @StepstoPodium  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For my bike, sure, but the factory setting is always just a reference point. For some cases is a good starting point, for others it's just a reference point. It depends a lot from the fuel you use and the bike (no, they don't all come exactly alike)

    Afinal qual a poupança em relação ao carburador de origem?

    • @StepstoPodium
      @StepstoPodium  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Posso-te dizer que para um percurso com o ritmo que foi, com o carburador de origem, teria gasto entre 11 e 12L/100km, sem menor dúvida!
      É mesmo uma grande poupança.

    Fiquei convencido de vez. O mal é mesmo o preço.
    Hoje em dia o pessoal troca de mota facilmente e investir assim e depois deixar ir não é fácil.
    Vender a parte também não é qualquer pessoa que compra e também estás limitado porque o carburador só da para beta.
    Mas tou tentado 🙂

      Luis has the 36mm size SC2 model SmartCarb which is not only for the Beta 200/300/Xtrainer. In fact it is compatible and adaptable to nearly any 125-300cc 2-stroke dirt bike that uses a carburetor. Luis could take this 36mm SC2 to a Sherco or TM or any carbureted KTM/Husqvarna/GasGas, and more. All he would need to do is contact us for new tuning baselines which we are happy to provide to any SmartCarb owner whether they are an original customer or have acquired it second-hand.
