    ℹ️ About the Episode:
    Each season, we like to do an episode recap to break down what we learned and provide some tips in case you choose to follow in our footsteps. This season-the National Park Blitz-we have a lot to cover: the national parks we visited, the campgrounds we stayed at, helpful resources & apps, hidden gems and tips for visiting national parks with dogs. This episode includes a map of this season's route and all the national parks we visited. We had previously visited the "Mighty 5," including Arches, Bryce and Canyonlands. National parks we were able to "scratch off" our map included Capitol Reef, Mount Rainier, Olympic, North Cascades, Devils Tower and Wind Cave. Yet, the national parks we revisited were even better the second time around! It's impossible to see it all on the first visit. By going back, we can dive a bit deeper and explore further to discover even more.

    In purchasing my NP Pass many years ago as a senior I asked the clerk when it expired considering my large purchase price of $10.00. She said "sir, it expires when you do!" Sure been worth the money! Great episode....thanks for sharing all the info and great scenery. Oh, and even at $80.00 a year it's worth every penny!

    My kiddos and I have enjoyed this season so much! We did our own national park blitz with Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons. My smallest loves pointing out things in your videos that he has seen in real life, it melts my heart. Thank you for giving my family the continued encouragement to get out and create memories 💕

    Wife & I love your videos and have been traveling much more now! You mentioned issues with having to leave Charlie when not full hook-ups. A savior for us has been a battery/electric Dewalt jobsite fan. Now our dog would stay in the truck all day if she could. Even when at campsite she prefers the back seat of truck. I think it’s her safe zone and she’s very quiet. We will open all windows about 2”, pop the sunroof up to vent. We put the jobsite fan in the back seat with her. Keeps the air moving and keeps her cool. Now 85 degrees in full sun is a no but it works well in camper or truck in many situations. Also works well for us when at a Harvest host warm night or even outside to stay cool or help blow bugs away from us. Battery lasts for hours & hours.

    This recap was awesome. Because of this season, I bought a National Parks Passport book and have excitedly begun collecting stamps and stickers. As I am planning Route 66: The Second Half, for next year, I have already checked out my Passport book so I can bear off 66 to include some parks, forests, historic sites while I’m in the general area.
    But most importantly: I’ve listened to you and “I’m just doing it!!!”

First by purchasing our first travel trailer early this year to get out and explore this wonderful country, and now I have just created and uploaded my first video to my new youtube, Get Out and Explore with John. I hope to inspire others as you have done for me. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

    Over the course of four months this past summer we visited Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Devils Tower, Yellowstone, Glacier, Grand Teton, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Mesa Verde, and before heading back to Florida we visited the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
    We ran into friends in Moab, who recommended that we try the GyPSy Guide app. This app gives a narrated guided tour of many of our national parks. It knows where you are via your smartphone GPS and doesn’t require a cell phone signal. We used it for Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Grand Canyon, and Mesa Verde. It is an awesome app and we were grateful to our friends for recommending it.

    Jasper was happy to see more Charlie on this. Over the years, traveling without a dog, we preached to each other that flexibility was a key to the adventure.
    Now, knowing we will be traveling with Jasper (der Jester) aka “Ooze”… that mantra will be even more important to maintain.

We will start our adventure in Colorado Springs, then, Ouray, Moab, Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Rock Springs, Yellowstone, Tetons, Redfish Lake, Boondocking in Oregon, Olympic National, Coeur de Lane, Glacier National, Devils Tower, Custer Black Hills, Badlands, Medora, St Cloud, Napierville, Lapeer, Jackson Center, Cleveland Buffalo, Finger Lakes and return to Mass. We wanted to stop in Capitol Reef but the combination of road construction and nowhere to park with a trailer and kitty sort of cut out some of the things. It's very pretty!

    Beautiful recap. Hubby and I are starting to plan to go west next year. We have the Sr pass for the national parks and hope to put it to great use.

    The National Park Pass also gives discounts in other Federal campsites!! More then paid for my Senior Pass the first year!! {It use to be called Golden Eagle Pass, I liked that name alot better!!!}
