My wife I and drove from Chicago to Moab in February 2021. Couldn’t stand being locked up at home because of the pandemic. This was the best spur of the moment decision and trip we have ever made. Visited Arches park on Valentines Day and then visited Canyon Lands the next day before sunrise. Parks were empty. Such a beautiful trip. On the way home, visited friends in Breckenridge, Co.
My Dad grew up in the very small town of Escalante, Utah, so I spent countless summer days of my youth in Bryce when visiting my Grandparents. I love it there. There is nothing like it anywhere on the planet - - at least not that I know of.
Super Bowl Sunday is the absolute best time to visit Zions . The weather usually is mild and the park is basically empty. You can dive the shuttle route since they aren’t running at that time of year. I honestly wouldn’t do arches any later than April as the temperature is perfect!
Hello we are planning a road trip through the southwest America start and destination of Los Angeles... California, utha, Nevada, Arizona for three weeks at the end of April... while researching we came across your videos... respect, really breathtaking pictures ... many
Kevin, another great video! I moved to Denver quite a while ago and have spent a lot of time in Utah. Such a beautiful state. I always take the cutoff once you get in Utah as you make your way to Moab. Can't wait to get back out there very soon. Thanks for the video. Kirk
Thank you! I have been to Utah probably 1-2 dozen times, so this video has some footage from across the board, probably most months. But the majority of the footage in this video that we shot while road tripping with the 4Runner was shot in April!
Probably will drive through capitol from Bryce to get to green river but will want to see factory butte , b hills and goblin valley on the way if possible. I got a compact 4x4, do you think I need something bigger for any of those?
Planning a trip and have been sifting through tons of videos etc. Yours really hit the mark! i appreciated all of the side details, had completely forgotten about Bentonite Hills! How much time do you think you need there?
I love your videos. I was thinking of making this trip this summer in our rv. I'm curious which drone you use the most? All of your videos look great and I am looking at buying my first drone!
Thank you so much John! I have used a variety of drones over the years, but the one that I’ve been using for the last 2ish years is the DJI Air 2S. It’s a beast, and affordable too
@@KevinEassa is that the DJI Mini 2SE? I didn't see an Air 2S at their store. There is an Air 3 for sale. I was looking at he Mini Pro 4 but it is a little expensive at around $1000
Did you see that right when you are saying "it'd mean the world to me if you subscribed and give this a thumbs up...." there was a thumb-shaped "arch"/hole in the one of the rocks in your video! Very well timed!
Most of the trails in here! One of the best parts about the Mighty 5 NP's is that there are an endless number of trails that are shorter 1-3 mile hikes and also plenty of places that you don't even need to hike at all. Some off of the top of my head - Double Arch, Park Avenue, Schaffer Trail Overlook, Mesa Arch, any viewpoint in Bryce, Temple of the Sun/Moon, Hickmann Bridge, Zion Canyon Overlook, Zion River Walk/Narrows
For the mighty 5 parks you can take any tiny sedan. The places that need awd or 4WD specifically, I note in the video per location. Marlboro point would be a no, maybe temple of the sun and moon, others like hanksville factory butte you shouldn’t have any issues. Hope this helps!
That's nice Toyota let you borrow 4 runner! What kind of shoes or sandals do you recommend or wore for The Narrows trail? Looking for good non slip sole.
not sure if you're around to read this Kevin but i had a question. Do any of the parks require a pass besides the one you stated? or any of the trails?
The Federal National Parks Pass is the one we get every single year, it's good for all of the Mighty 5 National Parks. It is also good at some National Monuments and other places around the country. Utah state parks you pay for the day separate from the federal pass, or if you are going to visit enough of them there is a 'Utah State Park annual pass.' Most trails you are good to go. But certain trails you do need a permits (examples: Angel's Landing, The Subway). Hope this helps!
My best recommendation would be to fly into Salt Lake City and rent a car! You could either do a round trip car, or fly in to SLC and then fly out of Las Vegas after Zion with a one-way car rental. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Definitely! But some national parks have special parking for RVs longer than 22 or 25 feet, so just something to be aware of. But tons of people do this in an RV
After how many days do the views start to loose there magic, after how many days are you like, okay, more cool rocks, seen this 100 times already. Did this happen after day 5, day 7? I watched someone's 8 day itinerary and they were like , Arches, blah... but early in the itinerary, they were gaga over things that didn't look nearly as nice. I was planning on spending 3 weeks doing the big 5, but now I am second guessing my decision and wondering if I should consolidate it.
As a local Utahn, I can say that these parks never get old. I've been coming to these parks my whole life and I still haven't seen a fraction of what I want to see. And they are very diverse, actually.. It's really hard to get the scope, the beauty, the magic in a video. I would love to have 3 weeks to explore this area even though I've been there so many times. Petroglyphs, dinosaur 🦕 tracks, fossilized sea shells, NASA's secret Mars station in Capitol Reef, and, and.... There's too much to even mention and those are the little bonuses. If I was trying to put in too much mileage too quickly for my first time in heat of summer with the crowds, I might get overwhelmed. If you do your research, This will be a trip of a lifetime!
@@KevinEassa Sorry I am not really familiar with the difference. I've always thought of every monument as being off limits to drones, especially if you have to pay a fee to get in.
@@KevinEassa I've come to realize, that whenever you see beautiful scenery and plan on taking some aerial shots of it, chances are 99% of the time it is not allowed, be it federal, state, local or some business-specific rules that prohibit unmanned aircraft. Most of the time I just lug my drone around with me without ever unpacking it because of the restrictions everywhere. LAME!
@@goatmototours They definitely don’t make it easy! I wish the permit process was easier for some places. Thankfully there are apps that help guide where you can and can’t. B4Ufly and Autopylot are great tools
It's going to take you 2 hours to drive from Green River to Canyonlands! And you want to get there for sunrise? That is not reasonable. Better to spend a few extra $ and stay in Moab. Time is precious on vacation.
Is it allowed to fly drone in the spots that you chose? I am planning to take a Utah trip during thanksgiving and was wondering if I should take my drone.

What is the name of the skinny black tower at 5:50?
I've always known it as "The Spire", however it's official name - believe it or not -, given by rock climbers, is Long Dong Silver Spire.
