    Quick correction I own the Mini light, and the top knob does have a spring on it. It works just like the regular Mini matte box. At least mine does. Great video it helped me decide. I appreciate it. Keep up the good work.

    Today I have received the lite version. It DOES have the spring loaded knob on top and I use it with my canon 24-70 f2.8, which had a thread of 82mm. With the matte box on it my circular ND filters from urth fit just fine.

      That’s cool! Congratulations on the purchase! That’s cool you’re has the spring load ratchet style tightener for your flag. Yeah I had someone similar ask about the ND filters also, the one I have is the Tiffen ND filter and mine is to large of a diameter to fit in either one. I’m sure people will be able to fit different ND filter, it’s about the dimensions. That why I mentioned that I had the tiffen. Congratulations on the box, and thanks for checking out the video!!

      Thanks for checking out the video! As far as the trays. They both come with the 4x5.56 tray for you to add your own ND filter. Now per Smallrig it does show that the lite has the ability to take a 4x4, bit u need to purchase that tray separate.

    Thank you for giving over the differences. I went with the mini but the light option looks better. Especially due to the 1/4 under the matte box for adding rods to keep it in place. The mini always spins out of place.

      Thanks for checking out the video!! Yes that is a great point that I did not mention. The lite those have a a tendency of moving around. And the mini does not because it has the option to hold it in place from the bottom . Not only does it hold it in place, it help support the weight of your lens and anything you choose to attach to the matte box if you use the bottoms support. Thanks again!

    My lens' filter thread size is 67mm. I have a 72mm VND filter and step up rings and I'm planning to buy the mattebox. Am I going to use the (stacked) step up rings from 67mm to 72mm to attach my VND filter to my lens then use the mattebox's 72-95mm ring to be able to attach the mattebox?

    • @FelipeAlmeida_media
      @FelipeAlmeida_media  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      First you would use the smallrig set up ring included with the Matt box in your case it’s the 67mm-95mm. That will secure the your lens to the Matt box. The other side of the smallrig set up rings has threads and you will attach your 72mm VND to it that way. The thread size is the same of your lens thread. So then you use your normal set up ring to go to 67mm to 72mm.

    This video and the way you answer people's question is pretty frustrating. Listen, one of the most important parts for a lot of people here is the possibility or not of using an 82mm Tiffen Variable ND filter with this product. On the video you go over this aspect very quickly. But watching it several times, and looking at your somewhat careless answers to people, it seems pretty obvious to me that if you FIRST place the mattebox on the 95-82 adapter ring AND THEN screw on the 82mm Tiffen variable ND then you would be able to use it with it. Why not?! Could you please explain, pointing to the EXACT issue, without being vague (for instance, mentioning where the filter hits, or gets blocked by something), why this specific solution wouldn't work, if that is the case? Thank you!

    • @FelipeAlmeida_media
      @FelipeAlmeida_media  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry that your all frustrated, I have answered these questions in the past and for the most part people are ok with what I have explained and it doesn’t come off as vague and seem to work for them.
      So I’ll give you an explanation and hope it helps. The diameter from edge to edge of the 82MM Tiffin filter is larger than the diameter of the 95-82 adapter ring. As you know the tiffin thread is 82mm and not the actual size of the ND filter. So it does not fit because the tiffen ND is larger than the actual whole in the Matt box where you insert the lens through . And it also does not fit from the front either because the Matt box gets narrower from the front to the back and as most Matt box. so it doesn’t even fit in the front. It’s why in almost every explanation that I have given on this video I’ve told everyone that I purchased a 77mm Tiffen so I could fit it in this Matt box. And as you probably read some other people have other brands that are 82 mm that fit just fine that are not tiffen. Hope this clarifies it for you and it helps.
