    The Matte Box Mini Lite (3575) from Smallrig is a super compact and yet capable matt box for people working with compact cinema cameras like the pocket 4K, Sony FX3 and FX30 - And obviously all the hybrid camera shooters out there.
    The size matches these types of cameras perfect without adding any extra bulk.
    The Matte Box Mini Lite let's you use circular filters like variable nd-filters, cpl and more. The filter tray let's you use square 4x5.65 filters out of the box and with an additional purchase you can also use 4x4 filters.
    Made out of sturdy plastic, carbon fiber and aluminum alloy. The Matte Box Mini Lite gives a sturdy impression while still being incredibly lightweight.

    Great video! Thank you 🎉. I have an 82mm pro mist filter and an 82mm variable nd filter. Am I able to attach both of these to the Matt box or will I need a different size for one or the other?

    • @ThomasFransson

      Most likely you should be able to rock as usual since the extra filter builds outwards and the mattbox gets wider and bigger the further from the front element it gets.
      That said, I have seen one comment here about one brand of 82mm vnd's having a thicker outer diameter. To big to fit the matte box. So that's the only thing to keep in mind probably.
      Sadly my pro mist is 72mm (yeah I know =/ ) So I can't add it directly to my 82mm VND to test it out for you.

      Thank you!
      It would definitely work, the adapter kit - 3383 contains a 55mm adapter ring that'll fit the lens. The matte box is very light weight so I wouldn't worry.

    Hi Thomas can we use the square filter and at the same time a circular filter, polariser for example.

    • @ThomasFransson

      Yes you can, you would need to pop the square filter/filter frame out when adjusting the circular filter though.
      For some types of shoots this might not be a major inconvenience.

    Should I get this or the non lite version, as far as I’m aware the non lite adds a screw hole on bottom to lock it in place, and I saw some comments saying that’s important but the normal mount looks good enough idk.

    • @ThomasFransson

      Yeah that's one of the benefits, that mounting point allows you to mount the matte box to rods instead of just having the on lens option. If you're switching lenses often on a shoot this may be a perk.

    • @ThomasFransson

      I use 82mm vnd's but that's the largest size this matte box can handle.
      There are vnd's with grips and super thick outer rings that may be an issue to fit though.

  • @Cash.22Me
    @Cash.22Me 4

    I have a question about the vnd with this matte box. So i have an a6700 and sigma lens with 55mm diameter. I think of buying a vnd, but not sure if i have to buy it with the same diameter as my lens, or a bigger one. Using vnd with matte box in the way you showed it I'm afraid of getting some type of vignetting, cuz filter will not be attached directly to the lens and will have a little space from it. Can you give me your opinion on this? should i buy vnd with the same diameter as my lens or have a bigger one? Thank you!

    • @ThomasFransson

      When it comes to filters i always recommend getting a larger diameter than your current "biggest" lens. Preferably 82mm as these will fit almost every lens you'll come across (before moving into some cine lenses and what not)
      On smaller lenses 67 or 72mm might be a more compact alternative. And apart from elevating any risk of vignetting from a bad filter or matte box adapter ring, it'll probably save you money down the road if you buy a lens with a larger filter diameter.

    Sir , have you tried 4x5 Fixed ND Filters stacked when u are having to cutt over 8.6 stops which is max limit of your VND ??

    • @ThomasFransson

      I have not, I've only added a solid circular ND behind and in front of my VND when shooting with some really fast glass. I typically only run into these issues shooting outside running and gunning - so a square filter would obstruct the VND and make it more difficult to make adjustments on the fly.

    • @NihalUsman

      @@ThomasFransson you mean , we will have to slide out and adjust it , again slide it back in there , but , other than that , even it is circular filter stacking or the method i said above, both will work right ??

    • @ThomasFransson

      Both will work.
      I'd use square filters for longer more stationary shots where they lighting will be fairly consistent. And circular if you’re moving the camera a lot.

    • @ThomasFransson

      Yes, absolutely!
      Cirkular mist filters if you need access to the vnd when running and gunning.
      And you can slap a square mist filter on to the matte box when shooting in controlled environments.
