'plateau' as a metaphor: you're climbing a mountain, you got to a flat part (the plateau) and you have to travel on the same height for a time, before being able to climb further.

It can mean both a temporary and an absolute inability to climb higher.
You can also view it as local hill climbing: For you to get higher up, you have to dip down a bit first. You see this in many games when you have to unlearn bad habits, and you get a lower mmr until you've managed to compensate. The Select All Army hotkey in SC2 is a classic example.
It's a great video and all, but not at all a guide on roles. It's a casestudy on this game specific, and what happened here, but not what the title says :/
Loving the HOTS resurgence. There will always be LoL/DOTA2 fans that shit on the game, but the fact is Hots has less toxicity and is an overall more fun game. Played LOL for five years religiously and became bitter. Switched to HOTS. Have never needed nor want to go back to the salt mines.

I just watched the video and actually couldn't find the part that's supposed to be a basic guide for all the roles. Did I miss anything? :S

He mentions during the draft that which role you should pick depends on your mood and goal--pick your best role (highest WR) when you need that win, after a tough day or work or something, but if you are trying to learn and a loss wont ruin your day then go for something else.
I do agree though that this isn't really a guide video so much as just grubby having some fun on stream.

Exactly the build I go for as well. Kerrigan is very underrated imho. Great match!
one of the reasons i love this game and this sort of game is that its two games in one. It's like chess with long term macro strategy, but at any given time the enemy's position can allow you to completely ignore the strategy because there are tactics possible that lead to a win. The moment you have a kill on the enemy's core, nothing else matters. just be the first to kill core. everything you do during the game needs to be part of your positional strategy, keep your forts defended, keep up in exp, keep your position strong. the enemy will likely overextend and you can counter attack as long as you stay strong. you position yourself to attack while being defended, always looking for tactics if an enemy steps out of position or makes a bad macro decision. of course, having the teams with all different heroes is like having different pieces in the chess game, that allows for completely different strategies. different maps is like playing on different chess boards. and like chess many strategies and tactics are viable. you have a freedom to have your own playstyle. i know a lot of hyper agressive chess players. im much more defensive and positional, but always looking for tactics and i try to let the position dictate my playstyle. love chess and hots lol.
oh ya i was going to say theres 2 different types of learning in this game. learn how all your actions affect the macro game and learn how to play the maps and the objectives based on your team comp. but completely different is the fighting and teamfighting. this is where the tactics are. just catching someone not paying attention, out of position. one of your teammates lands a stun on an enemy you have to be in range then its possible to just full dive them. any time they are out of position. its a great game.

TLV are my favorite hero in the game. I don't split them up but I run them together instead. Most of the time nobody has any idea how to play against it like you said. They are extremely funny and I usually still end most games with by far the most xp and more times than not most hero damage as well. It is both a blessing and curse that so many people don't know how to play them.
You probably enjoyed that relatively recent patch that made grouped up vikings better then xD

I think Dva is the only hero I have zero wins with and when I play her I feel completely useless. Glad to hear she's considered the worst, thats what I thought of her as well :)

plateau means a graph thats shows your rising skill and finally its flat and doesnt rise anymore :D

plateau as seen in a graph... you have valleys, peaks, and plateaus. graph time vs level of proficiency and if you have a plateau means that as much as time passes, you dont seem to improve as much.
I only play 6 heroes as I want to be experts at each. So far I'm not that good at this game.

Do not agree with that tier list at all.
Artanis is not bottom tier, neither is qhira, genji or valeera. 4 sec AOE Blind and longest silence in the game are teamwipe abilities. Artanis is however locked to shield/block build to be reliable in higher elo. They all lack a bit of clearspeed, but you should not pick valeera if the team lack clearspeed anyway. rehgar and malf is far from top tier nowdays, they are both B tier imo.The only thing that's great is clense, the healing of both these are meh. if anything, lucio and ruby decard should be put up to top tier. And brightwing is more than viable after the buffs, she's also is a good counter to any squish hero that need to jump in. If you pick blink and healing dust you can also burst heal with dust+D+blink. The 20 dust talent is also fun and good with healing dust. The dust talents apply to all targets on 20, works like a better storm shield. medivh is top tier, but you need to know how to play him and not die, ever. same goes for mephisto. the dps he can do is nutty, especially on 20 with W build (broken hero dps imo). Q build meph i agree is low tier. maiev is also a top tier hero, just hard to play
That's your opinion and that's great. My tier list would put chromie in S rank, not very difficult, crazy burst damage and very good heroics, very safe. But that is at my level of play, mid platinum.
Remember that all tier lists are opinions of said people. And as Grubby has said, if you can play the hero, it's better to play it over first timing S tier heroes. I have 80% winrate with Kerrigan and 90% as Rehgar (20 and 10 games respectively), are they very good? No. Situationally, but I can play them way better than Grubby's S tier Ana/Malf or yours S tier Deckard/Lucio thus netting me more wins and enjoyment (just by playing those heroes, playstyles).
@@osvaldas96 im not saying they are bad, if you are good with a hero you can do great. Would struggle more on higher elo with the worst ones tho (D.Va, stiches, probius, vikings) . Heros are tools to win, in other words, you can win or loose with anything. And how you play affect the entier team, soak is the most important thing you do in this game, but you need to win teamfights later.
It's the overall powerlevel of the character i'm talking about and how well they fit on a team. A s tier will fit on any team and got great potentional to carry. And i would not put decard on S tier a few patches back. and if your team does not pick up potions, you picked the wrong hero. not sure if lucio is s tier either. He is a bit weak early game and he ain't got a root/stun, but after 16 he's insane. ana is 100% s tier, but again, she can be rough for a newbie to play.
So i just dissagree with some of the positions on his list. Nothing else than that
