I think it's a very important video because many people who don't have the chance to train with a proper coach or a coach at all other than TH-cam and tiktok, miss these super important milestones to go through when you compose a form :
    - judges are tired and won't focus all the way, and they can tell your level within the first few seconds. So the opening is key. I would say the ending is also something worth perfecting.
    - occupy the whole carpet
    - and maybe the most important: most athletes not only train everyday, but they train the same taolu for years! Too many people don't even have the fundamentals to perform a correct compulsory but go directly to optional forms and change it every now and then...
    Thanks for sharing!

I liked being able to watch her do the moves while she talks. And amazing how she tosses and catches sword. And so fast!

Awesome stuff! It made me re-evaluate how I currently start my individual nanquan form. I have some thinking and planning to do! lol.
If the beginning showcases your strong points, did she say what to do if you don't have any strong points? lol. >__

this is good stuff - a lot of lion dancers can benefit from this too - as creating a lion dance routine has similar concepts - at least for me - but maybe it cause I train in wushu so I understand the fundamental of creating a form and judges thought process

Interesting!! that's a really good point. Are discussions about this type of thing happening for lion dance anywhere online? Like forums or informational youtube videos?

@@RebeccaChinn there a pretty big fb group to discuss lion dance
But sadly. A lot of lion dancers are still close minded and dont share as openly as wushu people.. Maybe that my view is different since my wushu background is so strong and heavily influenced

@@wawawho18_adventures ah I see ... Do you think people are more likely to share info like this directly from coach to performer/ amongst friends than in a more open setting like TH-cam? I feel like most wushu knowledge is passed from person to person, rather than via any "resource" out there.

@@RebeccaChinn oh yeah for sure. If you find a circle of lion dance friends, they will share heavily among each other.
