To the question of - should people of the 'acquired sex' have the same protections as someone of the 'biological sex' - I would say no, there should be a defined difference between the two and both should be protected. However, that doesn't solve the practical application, if they are different (which they are), how can, and how should, we cater to that as a society - the hospital ward is a great illustration, same goes for toilets', changing rooms, the workplace and sports (even education).

What about men protecting their mothers, wives, daughters, and grandchildren? Surely they don't want to see men invading the remaining safe spaces for their female kin. It's everyone's duty to protest the absurdity of it. If a person holds strong religious beliefs are they allowed to refuse to comply? Can you imagine a man being allowed into spaces for burkha-wearing females? or is that different?
They can make laws that affect women because they are in power. Unfortunately, some women are complicit in this madness because they want to be caring, and 'inclusive', which I find to be quite divisive in the current context. We need a government and ministers willing to repeal the nonsensical laws, and put in place laws that elevate science over ideology. I trained as a midwife 46 years ago, in those days when a baby was born, we fill in a form, you tick the box male / female. Does it means the hospital form is now indeterminate as far as gender goes? these judges are so out of touch with what the public want. they go easy on child SA cases, go easy on immigrants, and come down hard on words and emotions..... how can we hold them to account? what is our recourse, as the public?
My local supermarket joined the women’s and men’s toilets together, I asked at the reception desk if a female staff member could please go in there to make sure no women where in there at the time as I didn’t want to invade there privacy , I got really funny looks from the staff , but guess what a fortnight later they saw common sense and reverted to male and female after many complaints, at last 😊😊👍👍

CHECK out the case of five nurses at Darlington hospital uk.they did not wish to strip off in changing room with a man saying he is a woman...he is in the changing room..they are in some other inferior room.five! Highly qualified,precious women.

I'm currently dealing with a case where a medical practitioner was accused of misgendering a patient whilst talking about giving medication to a biological male who identifies as female. If they gave medication designed for a female for which they identify and there are issue then could be done for medical negligence, amongst others, but the medication was required to be sex specific

We need a government and ministers willing to repeal the nonsensical laws, and put in place laws that elevate science over ideology. That such a tiny minority of people have managed to change the way the whole of Western society thinks and behaves is astounding! Ask me 20 years ago if this was possible I would have said no. Now, it feels like we have gone back to the Dark Ages.
We need a new Age of Enlightenment, but we don't educate our young people to be able to achieve that, more's the pity. They, too, are being educated into this madness as the norm, and are unable to educate themselves out of it because those books and that thinking has been banned.

My local supermarket joined the women’s and men’s toilets together, I asked at the reception desk if a female staff member could please go in there to make sure no women where in there at the time as I didn’t want to invade there privacy , I got really funny looks from the staff , but guess what a fortnight later they saw common sense and reverted to male and female after many complaints, at last 😊😊👍👍

If a man can be a woman in all legal respects then there is legally no such thing as women and absolutely no protection from sexually confused or fetishist men who covert womanhood. In fact these men will have more rights than the women because the gender recognition is its own protected characteristic, if a woman offends a man by asking him not to undress infront of her daughter, she is the one in trouble. Its utterly despicable and will lead to more children not being allowed to go into changing rooms, more women self excluding out of fear.

I'm currently dealing with a case where a medical practitioner was accused of misgendering a patient whilst talking about giving medication to a biological male who identifies as female. If they gave medication designed for a female for which they identify and there are issue then could be done for medical negligence, amongst others, but the medication was required to be sex specific

I've been a Labour supporter all my life. The present "government" has changed all that! So Starmer has become PM with a landslide majority - what good has it done for him or the party? The sooner things are changed, the better. I do not accept this govt. as my govt.
You think this was something that has come to fruition because of the Labour government, elected just 108 days ago; you think this sort of thing moves that quickly?
And, yes, you do live in a democracy; not an ideal one, because "first past the post" often produces ridiculous results. But neither of the two main parties want to change it. Just because you don't like the result doesn't mean it isn't a democratic form of government.
Then those two thirds are equally to blame for not voting..

JKR helped a good bit with this latest one as there's been so many tribunals for women being bullied and sacked etc it's hard to pay for it all. Over 5m of ordinary people's money has been spent fighting this lunacy

Women to men does not affect men, men to women makes women irrelevant when it comes to sports, obviously there will be other things but in most cases women can not compete with men the man would usually win.
It has happened to men, it's been happening for the last 60 years. Gender quotas and such in workplaces. You are experiencing what men have had to put up with for likely longer than you have been alive, but you only started opposing it when it started to affect your "group", which is ultimately why it will eventually win.

Gender is assigned at conception and is a matter of nature and science, no law can change that. If someone thinks they "were born in the wrong body" then that's a psychological problem, not a biological problem, and should be treated as such.
It seems, as with most things these days, we pander to the minority.
Any law which states that gender can be legally assigned is taking women's rights backwards by a century.
