    Hey guys, this is a 2002 Honda TRX250EX Sportrax that belongs to a friends boss. It had been sitting outside under a tarp for 10 years without being moved or started. I get requests for kids quads and mid-sized bikes, so I thought this would be worth an edit! These are the types of projects I used to do that built my skill and ability into what it is now. I hope you enjoy and for more content like this, please consider subscribing!

      Seems like you are not setting up your video tags correctly. You should have WAY more views than you are getting. Something is causing your videos to get knocked down in TH-cam listings. Also, I HIGHLY recommend posting links to your videos on twitter and reddit, along with having links to both those sites on every video.

    I few years back I purchased a 2009 TRX250X for my daughter. She went from her Polaris Predator 50 to this 250 and was the absolute best thing for her. It is white/black. Placed pink flames on it and she has loved it. She is 16 now and has not grown out of it.

    My dad got me one just like that for my first quad, I always loved it. Best part about those quads is how easy they are to wheelie, definitely great for learning how to use your foot brake when needed. I know the one I had is still going strong on a farm nearby. Definitely would like to get another one, or another 300ex

    I’ve got the same quad. My wife used it when we went riding. When we moved houses I prepped it for storage and it sat for over 10 years. Purchased a battery today, fuelled it and she started after a couple of tries. Great video mate.

    I had a 250ex and I trail road a lot and the rear suspension sucked. If you get a front banshee shock it bolts right up to the rear mount on the back of the Honda. It made a night and day difference.👍🏼

    My dad got a sweet deal on a 2003 250ex for my sister about ten years ago. Had a Procircuit pipe, K&N air filter, and some nice aluminum nerf bars. Seller's kids had no intetest, and it was extremely low hours.
    It wasn't properly jetted, so I fixed that. We found it super tippy on the Hatfield Mccoy trails, so it got Tusk extended rear wheel hubs, ASR +2" A-arms, steel braided brake lines, better tires, and eventually it got an extended steering stem. Quite honestly, it's a little beast.

    Cool video, the TRX250EX is still super popular around So Cal...... BTW Michael, pay close attention to your water/cleaner level in that HF sonic machine. I had same one that failed because I filled it too far up....... That junction where the metal tub and plastic housing meet is NOT sealed......liquid can get past it and down under the machine (where the electrical bits are). On the replacement I bought I sealed that joint with Yamabond 4, just in case ;)

    • @MichaelSabo

      Good call with the Yamabond! Sadly that cleaner did fail recently; almost definitely from over-use and abuse. It sure served it's purpose though; these video clips were taken 5 years ago and it only recently broke in 2021; not bad for a 100$ harbor freight cleaner!

    The snake was waiting for the mouse to come back to the nest. It inadvertently saved that quad from more damage, mouse would have chewed the wiring and air filter for sure.
    So this was a Sabo/Snake collaboration restoration

    Just found you on here the other day and have been watching several of you videos. Good stuff ! I like watching your stuff, I do small engines for a living. You might try some berrymans carb chem dip in your ultrasonic cleaner. I started using it a couple of years ago, I swear by it! Big difference from the other crap I have used. It just does better hands down. Any how there my opinion, and you know what they say about them. Keep the videos coming, we will all be watching!!

  • @Slane583
    @Slane583 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    These little 250EX's have been around for a very long time. It's original predecessor was the Fourtrax 250X from the late 80's which was more of a true sport quad. I think the 250EX shares the bones of the Honda Recon 250 hence why it's shaft driven and has the weird engine shape. My friend and I always considered one of these little sport quads for just messing about on the trails to give our bigger utility quads a break. But they're just so pricey for what you're getting. Personally if I had the cash on hand I'd skip buying one of these things new and just go find a really good used Blaster for half the price. There's very little to them and there's a butt-ton of go-fast goodies for them. :)

    • @MichaelSabo
      @MichaelSabo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true on all counts man! Even though pricey, I'm still happy Honda is at least still making them 🤘

    • @trojanhead7149
      @trojanhead7149 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These things are absolutely bullet-proof tho, so there pretty worth it.

    • @Slane583
      @Slane583 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MichaelSabo I agree. Maybe someday the other brands will get the hint and try battling Yamaha for the sport quad crown. I'm kind of disappointed that it's only Yamaha still making sport quads. But, as with the case of the 250EX, at least they're still making them.
      On a side note, have you ever considered looking for a beat up Honda TRX 700 XX? They're a bit pricey when you find one, but they're nice to have because they're different. And being a Honda I'm sure there's a crap load of oem parts available for it. :)

    • @Slane583
      @Slane583 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trojanhead7149 There's no doubting that. But for me, even if it's a small beginner quad I still like knowing if there's aftermarket performance parts available for it. Because I see it as gaining a bit more potential out of something before someone fully out grows it and goes for something larger. I'm not sure about the 250EX because I never had one.
      But I did have a beat up Blaster in my later years of high school that we put a 240 big bore kit in and did some maintenance to such as new bushing, bears, cables, and brakes. If you wanted to put the effort into it you can make a Blaster a scary little quad with all the parts you can get for them. Plus they're simple because it's just an old fashioned air-cooled 2-stroke. There's nothing fancy on them, like the 250EX it just works. I have no beef with Honda's because I learned how to ride on my fathers ATC 185S. But again, I've never owned a 250EX so I don't know if there's any go-fast bits for them to get more potential out of them. :)

  • @stopbuysell1040
    @stopbuysell1040 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should try doing a Yamaha Blaster build off. They reasonable price to buy, plenty of modifications can be made to make them competitive. Standard 17hp, with porting works a decent exhaust, carb work you can get 30 hp out of them.

    You know Mike youre good enough at this now you can start taking stuff in and make money on the side. Charge them 50% per hour of what a shop would charge and make some extra money, get video and do something you love. I taught a 19yr old how to do it and he makes a couple bucks on the side and he’s learning more as he goes
