For PC users Hover over the "quit game" with your mouse on the left side, if you hear 2 or more menu sound (that "clink" when you select something on the menu) it means it didn't work and you'll lose the item.
IMPORTANT FOR PC USERS: Since PC has an additional option ("PC settings") when you go down to "quit game" you end up on "drop item" rather than "use item" in the other menu. There are other videos about the glitch for the PC users, but it can also work using the method from the video. But to work on PC you need to do a thing with the mouse. So, after you select OK on Brightness, don't go down to Quit Game, instead use your mouse to reach "Quit game" (highlights in orange) and so press ok on the controller (do not click with the mouse).
It works on PS5 as of April 8th 2023, using DS1 from Dark Souls Trilogy (PS4). 1) Buy the arrows and close the menu. 2) Open up inventory and go to the item you want to duplicate/consume, press X -> Change order -> X and go to the second slot in inventory, then press X again, then O. 3) Make sure the item is in focus (orange background), then press L1 and down. You should now be on the Brightness options. 4) Press X quickly followed by R1. If you get the normal inventory showing, press L1 and redo step 4, repeat until you get a screen showing "Brightness" in the upper left corner and "OK | Defaults" as buttons. 5) Press Down -> X -> Down -> Down -> Down -> Down until you arrive at Quit Game, then press X again. You should now get a dialogue showing "Use item, specify quantity", press Down -> Left -> X. DONE! 👍🏻

I finally got this to work on the switch (December 5, 2023) just want to add a few things to make it easier: 1) Drop one of the arrows first before trying the glitch to allow the glitch to use multiple items 2) if you're unsuccessful so far as many other comments have said, you're probably pressing the buttons together too quickly. Press the input button first and then press the right trigger (the button that switches the menu to the right)

@@Dark_Lord007 If you want us to help you, you'll have to give us more info on what exactly you did. Also it's R1, so there may be the problem. I think you maybe pressed it too fast or too slow. Try it a few more times. There has to be a slight delay between the inputs, otherwise it just switches the menu tabs. You can then switch it back to the settings panel and try again. Then you hit Ok and scroll down to Quit Game. If you press X then and it asks you how many items you want to use, you did it correctly. If it asks you to confirm quitting game, you did something wrong. Don't forget to also have the desired item to dupe in the second slot beneath Estus Flask. It always targets the second one so be careful to not have something like Humanity equipped in the second slot.
Hello I want to give some guidance on how to do this on console (specifically PlayStation but it should work for every platform) For it to work I higly suggest pressing X first and R1 after, this will make the menus overlapping process easier. If the duplication doesnt work or it doesn't allow you to go up to 99/999 just exit and re-enter the game, do the exploit again and it should work. Hopefully this helped someone
Hey just wanted to say, I commented on another one of your videos you uploaded a year ago under Daisy Shields, that glitch I couldn't get to work no matter how much I tried but I literally tried this one (which cut out the whole drop item arrow thing) and it worked legitimately on my 4th or 5th time I wasn't counting. So if anyone was getting frustrated and found this video, I can 100% assure that this glitch specifically still 100% works on the Xbox One X Dark Souls Remastered edition. Edit; The drop item portion is still required! What I'm doing is putting my soul consumables into my bottomless box and doing the glitch once, resetting bonfire and taking one soul out to use, redo the arrow drop part, and it works again. So just a slight addition but still EZ! If you want to pin this comment by all means go for it I just want to let others know that it does work.
Just did this as of May 6th 2023. 2 important things to note, 1: It can't be boss souls it needs to be regular souls you pick up like Brave Warrior, etc. 2: It only worked for me when i used my mouse to hover over the quit game button instead of using the dpad Thank god i dont have to do 30 hours of farming now lmao
im on pc doing this right now and i went through all the steps correctly, but pressing ok at the end actually quits out of the game, and once i reload my save, my souls get consumed and i am left with my original amount of souls, any idea on what im doing wrong?
@clout that was happening for me too until I tried going to the quit out menu and hovering my mouse over the left side of the "quit game" button first, then going back with my controller and doing the process like normal. That way your mouse is already on the quit button so you can just click without moving the mouse. I think moving it selects something else in the background. Also, if the quit game menu comes up after clicking it, just back out and keep trying until you get the use menu. It is pretty jank 😅 I hope this helps tho sorry for the thesis
Doing this exactly how it says but every time after I press A and RB to get to the overlapping screen after pressing OK it doesn’t bring me to the quit game screen it just says use item, drop, change order, reset order

Just found you can just select the option to drop 999 arrows (or any item I imagine) and follow the same steps, no need to go to a merchant 😁 Also make sure you press down when selecting quit game rather than pressing up and cycling to the bottom of that menu like you'd usually do

This glitch has made my re-playing dark souls on the switch on a trip an absolute joy. I’ve already played the original countless times so having this ability to level up indefinitely and go explore and have fun on a rerun has been so oddly refreshing.
It doesn't really work on pc anymore, you can do every step correctly, but when you click to use the item, the game will return to tittle screen and you'll simply lose the items
I just done it on PC successfully, at the last step, instead press down 5 times to press the "quit game", you hover your mouse to quit game and use controller to press it, this should do the trick.

If you drop all but one of the item you want to dupe and then drop and pick back up the 999 arrows it will allow you to consume one of the item and use 999 for however many of the item you have
If there are any doubters out there (like I used to be one.) Here is what will 1000% make it work for you if the above did not work (PS5) buy 999 arrows any arrows you can afford to buy and then drop them. Stay where you are and simply follow the above steps afterwards. You will get 999 uses of a single soul. It's time for me to go find me some beefy souls since this one only gave me rough 200k. PS: Tested and confirmed on 02/10/2023. And don't forget to grab those arrows back up for your next attempt.
Ive done it twice now and lost both soul items. Got the glitched screen and drop item menu. But it just quits out the game and loses my item. Could this be patched?
Still works on Xbox series X July 10 2024. My recommendation is that if you done everything correct until the end and it says reset order. If you look real close you can see the inventory menu behind the settings menu and make sure the use item is hovered over and you’ll know that if it glows orange/yellowish like if you were in the menu
@Alec Beegle Put you soul you want to use in second, below your your flasks. You need to see 999 arrows and then cancel the trade or cancel a drop. The brightness menu part takes finesse and time, but you will get it. Once you see the menus, both of them, only press down on the D-pad to "Quit" do not press up. You'll see the prompt
@@nichiwayt5902 I found a way to do it, you need a controller plugged in with your keyboard as well. Have the controller hover over quit game and have mousy over the bag (inventory) and click both at same time til you have quit game over the inventory

@@roribeiro6752 yes it worked for me a couple of days ago. If you buy 999 arrows, go to drop 999 arrows but don’t drop them, cancel. Then continue the rest of the glitch and it works. Really makes the game too easy though, so I recommend doing it only if you’re stuck or if you’ve already completed the game.
Having an issue, when I do the glitch I get all the way to the "use item" step but instead it gives me the drop item prompt and if I select ok it just quits me out to the main menu and all the souls are dropped from my inventory.
I had that issue but it was because when I got to the last bit after the brightness screen, I was clicking up once on the D pad to get to quit game instead of down 4 times. This is because you are simultaneously using the background screen and so you are moving your selection over to the change item order part instead of the use consumables part.
I'm using Xbox, but when I'm right at the overlapping part, it just goes back to inventory whenever I press anything. Can I you please tell me what exactly did you press at the end?
12/15/2023 still works!!! 🎉 word of advise I used switch console and changed my button order. Make sure to have buttons as default settings for it to work. 😅
Okay just want to say it still works in 2024 but you will get softband from using whatever character you did it with, So no online play 😢 but other than that it seems all good.

Not working on PC, lost a shit ton of souls because once I get to “quit game” I max the amount that I want to use, press A and it actually quits the game. I load back up and all the souls I put under my estus flask are gone

Took me a few tries but this does work, thanks. I cheaply lost a bunch of souls i was farming and said fuck it. Also stocked up on homeward bones and titanite for good measure before losing the rest 😈
On pc, when you validate brightness settings, you need to place your mouse cursor over "quit game" instead of using the controller. Then you can just press "A" and proceed normally ! Hope that helps !

If u haven't found out already you need to go into arrows and hover over drop whilst it says drop 999. You don't have to drop this it's just saving the value of the arrows

I can’t get mine to work.. what am I doing wrong??
@Alec Beegle Put you soul you want to use in second, below your your flasks. You need to see 999 arrows and then cancel the trade or cancel a drop.
The brightness menu part takes finesse and time, but you will get it. Once you see the menus, both of them, only press down on the D-pad to "Quit" do not press up. You'll see the prompt

@@nichiwayt5902 I found a way to do it, you need a controller plugged in with your keyboard as well. Have the controller hover over quit game and have mousy over the bag (inventory) and click both at same time til you have quit game over the inventory

im getting the menus to overlap but after i press "ok" in the brightness/inventory menu it's just taking me to the item menu without quanity, i'm missing the last "quit game" step somehow

Works on Switch as of March 2024. Took about a dozen tries to get the timing right.

So i just started the game i get all the way up to the brightness part, i hit ok, and it brings me back to the inventory (use item, drop, etc) menu and not the systems menu. How do i fix that? Im playing offline on ps4

@@roribeiro6752 yes it worked for me a couple of days ago. If you buy 999 arrows, go to drop 999 arrows but don’t drop them, cancel. Then continue the rest of the glitch and it works. Really makes the game too easy though, so I recommend doing it only if you’re stuck or if you’ve already completed the game.

Having an issue, when I do the glitch I get all the way to the "use item" step but instead it gives me the drop item prompt and if I select ok it just quits me out to the main menu and all the souls are dropped from my inventory.

I had that issue but it was because when I got to the last bit after the brightness screen, I was clicking up once on the D pad to get to quit game instead of down 4 times. This is because you are simultaneously using the background screen and so you are moving your selection over to the change item order part instead of the use consumables part.

Simply quit the game and start it again. Then it will work again. 😉

12/15/2023 still works!!! 🎉 word of advise I used switch console and changed my button order. Make sure to have buttons as default settings for it to work. 😅

Okay just want to say it still works in 2024 but you will get softband from using whatever character you did it with, So no online play 😢 but other than that it seems all good.

@@philipleminhtien9942 the trick here you don’t press x and r1 at the same time, is like this once you press x delay the press of r1, the way I explained it to my friend is a split second delay between the x and r1 I hope this helps
Not working on PC, lost a shit ton of souls because once I get to “quit game” I max the amount that I want to use, press A and it actually quits the game. I load back up and all the souls I put under my estus flask are gone

why the game exits the moment I press "ok" to drop the items??? Not that it matters, Im just replaying the game after 5 years of not touching it..I just want to be a cheater this time :)
There are other videos for pc users, but I've also found another method that it's like in the video:
Since PC has an additional option ("PC settings") when you go down to "quit game" you end up on "drop item" rather than "use item" in the other menu.
To work on PC you need to do a thing with the mouse.
So, after you select OK on Brightness, don't go down to Quit Game. Instead hover your mouse over it and press ok on the controller.
Took me a few tries but this does work, thanks. I cheaply lost a bunch of souls i was farming and said fuck it. Also stocked up on homeward bones and titanite for good measure before losing the rest 😈

On pc, when you validate brightness settings, you need to place your mouse cursor over "quit game" instead of using the controller. Then you can just press "A" and proceed normally !

It worked for me the first time, but upon second try it will only allow me to use 1 even though i still have the 999 arrows?
If u haven't found out already you need to go into arrows and hover over drop whilst it says drop 999. You don't have to drop this it's just saving the value of the arrows

Every time I do it tells me if I want to reset my order not the souls quantity I don’t get it
I'm doing this on my PS3, and everything goes by smoothly, but when I get to pressing okay in the brightness menu, it switches to my inventory and there's no overlapping menus. Idk what else to do :/
this is for ds remastered, not prepare to die. so it doesnt work for ps3
I recommend going to the arrows and selecting drop them backing out before overlapping the menus to ensure. It seems to help me on PS4 at least

So on pc it doesnt work, it will make you quit the game and lose the soul item without getting the souls
I believe there are extra steps since the PC version has an extra option in the menu. Many comments below have outlined the additional steps for PC users.
Did they patch this on ps5? I cant seem to get it to work. I get the menu overlap and everything but it only lets me use as many souls as i have. The arrows dont do anything?
