- Starting in 1911 with the birth of the blues, a growing problem with Marijuana, and the soon to be amplification of the guitar we see the seeds of what would become the fuzzed out blues and eventually the psychedelia of the 60's.

its awesome to watch how the early singer-songwriter blues players started a chain reaction that lasted thru decades and ended up inspiring some of the most crushing cathartic styles of heavy music, like theyre still speaking the same message as before but just evolved. Its just like someone else said in a skip james video, the blues is the roots and everything else is the fruits

Very thorough,thought provoking video. Tho I can see the through line of drugs and doom,I dont believe they are mutually exclusive. One can travel the heavy outer solar system of the mind without powdered or smoky inspiration. As a bonus the return trip will be much easier.

Thank you for sticking around. The story of the delay of this one is long... very long. Computer crash, thinking I had totally lost the script I wrote, too many nights of cramming and cramming to get as much info into this with bands and releases and quotes. I burned myself out completely and just stopped. The material sat on my hard drive and while it's still being finalized you guy can at least get caught up to speed and maybe it'll get me to finish it off. I think I need to do shorter format videos and not things with such a consuming topic like I've done in the past.

Searching for a long lost stoner metal I found a few years back by a band called Grusome (I think that's the spelling, not "Gruesome") the album is Grusome II ...BUT I HAD TO STOP on this doc that dates stoner metal back to 1911? Thumbs up brother!

If you’re going into these three videos, know it basically focuses on the slow long term evolution and for a long time it’s gonna feel like you’re just looking at sabbath and it stays with the largely surface level naming of dates and most if not all insight is spent on sabbath. It’s well put together but yknow if this structure isn’t your thing, it’s not going to get any better for you

Funny that they'd arrest the owner of City Lights for obscenities, have you seen that intersection of San Francisco? Like, that specific intersection? It is was was filled with strip clubs that also do other activities, always had since the old days.
