Love your videos and books. I am a silversmith, but am new to soft soldering. I have learned a lot from you, many thanks! But if I may offer one little tip in return... When you are hammering metal on a bench block, hold the end of the piece OFF the edge of the block. Less likely to hammer your fingers! 😉
That is so cool, i do srsined glass & leadlight, i also make jewellry & wire work but to mix the two im so excited, Thankyou for being generous & sharing, i just ordered yr 3 books from amazon too ❤
Thank you for the inspiring video! I have tried this however the solder doesn’t stick to the copper wire, wondering if there’s any trick higher temperature? Stronger flux or I need to use specific copper wire
Try cleaning the wire. Make sure it is actual copper wire. Make sure it is not coated with something such as plastic. Clean the copper well with steel wool before soldering. Allow the copper to heat up for a moment to allow the solder to adhere. Make sure you are using fresh flux. Try a higher temp.
Thank you for sharing your talent. This was very helpful! I'm new to soldering. Can you tell me the wire gauge you are using please? Can you use different gauges of wire?
Hi, if I don't need to create new shapes, just "connect" jewelry parts (pendats, cabochons in metal casing) I already have, can I use this method? What metals can I work with, and which are not for this method? Thank you.
You certainly should use some type of protection, even if its just soldering outside or near a window with a fan but I always recommend a fume extractor and a mask.
I link the tools in the descriptions below the video, look for a fume mask, ask at you hardware store, I'll link more in the future, thanks for watching!

Great tip, thanks!
Thank you so much for your videos! I’m venturing on to soldered jewelry and your videos are simple but informative.
Thanks for watching!
Laura that is beautiful. I did something like that with a labradorite crystal and put the pieces around it. Love to solder..

Great! I hope you enjoy the books! 4th one coming this summer stay tuned!
@@LauraBethLove Thankyou awesome looking forward to no.4 😁

You can use any gauge

hi thanks for the video!! how come you used a copper wire instead of a silver? im new to soldering, just wanted to know the info about it
I use both and for most tutorials and experimenting I use copper because its cheaper to work with

It depends on the metal, you should be able to with copper or silver
Such a cool
Piece!
on the silver wire, is that craft wire or a special wire like tin or sterling?
It's in the description below video
Thanks for the video. Beautiful piece. What temperature do you set your iron at to melt your Silvergleem?
It’s different for every person you just have to experiment with your iron. They are not all the same.
hi! i just wanna try soldering. Do you think it is okay to start soldering without mask? if i like it i will buy a mask later

Great Thanks Had to sub as you have a great creative talent!
How do you clean your piece?
I just used soap and water and buffed it with a cloth! Thanks for watching! 🌻
do you just open a window when soldering, or also use an extractor/regular fan? thanks!
Hi yes I use an extractor & purifier, thanks for watching!
Nice video!
Ciao ma la base in che materiale è?quello che sciogli e applichi sopra è stagno?il liquido come si chiama?perdonami ma non capisco la tua lingua😅
Copper wire and lead free silver solder, links to products used are in the description below the video
I’m curious would the solder ever tarnish?
Over time from being exposed to air, yes, just like sterling or copper it will eventually tarnish and need a quick polish.
Hola, qué tipo de soldadura usas?

Thank you so much! I love your tutorials. ❤
BTW, what kind of paper do you solder on? And what kind of mask? Respirator mask? Thanks 😃
