I know what it feels like to be betrayed by a lover. Although in the case of Ariodante, it was a trick played by Polinesso and Dalinda in disguise, but Franco truly portrayed the sorrow and hurt of being betrayed by love. It hurts so deep in the heart and you cannot live with such pain that death would seem the most welcome solution. But mixed with that hurt and sadness is anger and a passion for revenge from the grave. To express all of that in this very moving performance by the great Fagioli shows a master artist and method singer brought to tears because he honestly felt the pain and betrayal from Ginevra. Thankfully the audience was there to bring him back and applaud him with comfort and relief.
Just unbelievable beautiful - I met and listened to him some years ago and was blessed that evening with his voice. But I've never ever watched an artist with real tears running out of his eyes!
A pity one could not hold back one second or so, for him to come back to the world. Beautiful rendering. Heart warming. Thank you still, even after so many years
I love the technique he has of being on the top-end of a middle-ranged note without going flat. Given the dark middle range he has, I find his breathing and support his true genius.
Just returned home from seeing Franco Fagioli at the Theatre de Champs Elysees in Paris. He worked magic on my son whom I was able to bring along with me. But the acoutics here are fantastic! Perfect for Baroque and a small ensemble (SO much better than in a theatre, even one as beautiful as the TCE) - in this recording - in this church (where, I know not, I presume in France as he whispers "merci beaucoup" to the audience when finally he comes back to earth! This recording is a jewel, capturing an absolute magic LIVE moment, the artist at his zenith, the peak of his artistry and physical capacity and prouesse. The "Duende" was all around!
I don't think Mr Handel has ever heard his sad and lovely aria sung any better. Franco is a wonderful interpreter of baroque music. He brings it alive again. Bravo!
@@vilhelmhammershoi4631 Probably just so different the divine Tatiana, that one's first thought or feeling of it being so different, can be somewhat repelling, but once I really started listening in the mindset of a completely different interpretation, he soon became divine to me as well
He wouldn#t have recognised his name as Mr. Handel. Geog Friedrich Händel was German and to call him Handle illustrates British suspicion of all things foreign. Even in Spain he's known by his proper name Haendel, In a country where the Renaissance painter Albrecht Dürer is called Alberto Durero.
He lived in the ages of castratos, when some people had angelic voices the like of which will never be heard again, because of human rights and stuff. So yeah, I'm pretty sure he heard it sung better, not that Franco is not good, but common, be real.
Franco and he’s beautiful ensemble was in Birmingham UK last Sunday. The concert was amazing and so moving. I had the privilege to meet Franco and shake his hand. A truly memorable moment never to be forgotten. ❤️🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶
It’s the most beautiful song it’s a musical poem it reflects the duality of humanity is heaven we can do such incredible beautiful and useful things yet we are equally creators of awful things may be peace
Kiss the beautiful tears! This is a common expression when people are very impressed. The poem was born. Under the title "kiss the tears." Inspiring Franco Fagioli!
Though a different voice and a different temperament, the emotional expressivity of Franco Fagioli somehow reminds me of my youthtime favourite Franco Corelli. The contrast between "Infida" and "Io tradito a morte in bracchio" at 10:55 is a true masterpiece of expression. Anger and despair, simply superb.
Listening to this aria again and again, you discover more fine gems, like the "high jump" in the "Io tornero" at the end of the B part at 07:14, the slight delay at 07:29 when he starts very softly and the "grembo" at 09:39. None of us has heard Carestini, but it is a privilege to hear this version.
I'm sure I lived in this era. Handel, beautiful music. This music instantly brings me back 100s years I could almost feel what it was like in those days. Same when I listen to old Chinese music. I quite like counter tenor music.
Hermoso…..franco Fagioli excelente como siempre! 👏👏👏👏👏

He actually had tears in his eyes at the end! WOW!
Yes, Franco puts his whole self into his art. If I had a voice like his, I would too!!!

Una maravilla, voz e interpretación.
If Handel is in haven and gets a wish to do whatever he wants, I bet he listens to Franco and cries with him and the rest of us.
Just unbelievable beautiful - I met and listened to him some years ago and was blessed that evening with his voice. But I've never ever watched an artist with real tears running out of his eyes!
Escucharlo me deja sin palabras, sin respiración. Transmite emoción en cada nota.
The world’s greatest Counter-Tenor!

I have been lucky enough to hear Franco sing this live twice and have cried both times. So so beautiful!
Yes you are so lucky, Judith. I tremble each time I start to listen to this on youtube.
Er hat ein wunderschöne Wärme Stimme..... Ich habe viele Countertenoren schon gehört....
First time. The beautiful man who sheds tears.
You are the giver of inspiration to people.
what a wonderful sensitive voice,,,,amazing

Such a deep pain and sorrow in his voice in this moving performance - to the point of tears !
What an artist !!!!!!
Realmente, sí es para llorar.
I can't believe such angelic sounds emanate from this mortal's throat.
And the Angels descended from heaven! Franco Fagioli must be one of them! Bravo!
Meraviglia

I think an artist who is abundant sensitivity.
Franco Fagioli `s sensitivity makes me love even special experiences .
